Right, I followed the guide to the letter, and it worked perfectly until I went to replace lockdownd, it copied to my phone, but my O2 PAYG SIM still didn't work, and when I turned my phone off and turned it back on again, it's on the "Slide For Emergency" screen.

I don't have to go through it all again do I?

na, just open up iTunes (and make you are connected to the internet). then wait for it to activate again. that's all I had to do.

I'm not using the official O2 SIM though, but a pre-pay one. When I open iTunes it just comes up with the "Welcome To Your New iPhone" screen, and the phone has the "Connect to iTunes" logo and "Slide For Emergency"

aaaah, ok. I thought you were using an official SIM card (AT&T, Orange, O2, etc). I don't know what you should do. My first guess would be to redo the process but don't copy the lockdownd file over. You'll have a functional iPhone, but without the phone service. Not sure how to get your pre-paid card working from that point on though... :/

OK - I have 2 iphones in the house.
The one I'm working on now has 1.1.1 with baseband for 1.1.3. I cannot connect to wifi on this phone to jailbreak it or get it to work at all. It has become disabled during the process. Does anyone have this problem?

The phone is still connected to my Wi-Fi network, can I just redo the 1.1.3 jailbreak or do I have to go back to 1.1.1 then 1.1.2? It's just it's 11pm in the UK, I'm at college tomorrow and want to go to bed :p

Ok, what am I missing, I used the nat method first, then the method at the beginning of this thread yesterday, but I cannot get the Installer.app to find the 1.1.3 ringtone fix. I have the new baseband, jb 1.1.3 installed and running using the lockdown file. Everything works except I don't have ringtones. Is there something simple I can do without having to downgrade again?

Actually, all i had to do was open iTunes and let it reactivate... do'h. btw, lockdownd does go into /usr/libexec on the iPhone. I was copying it from my mbp to the iphone. anyways, all is good! works beautifully.

Ah! Cool then.

Well, what a day. I spent the last several hours cranking though this device in rapt amazement. Feels like opening the tire compartment of your old car for the first time and discovering it contains a parallel universe. Pretty incredible. And a little mind-boggling.

I made sure to update community sources & stick Launcher on there, as I've heard these are must-do's. Perhaps the last line to add to this guide is a link to a good "So you've Jailbroken your iphone..." thread somewhere to direct fledgeling iphone ex-cons off into the sunset.

Awesome. Awesome awesome awesome. Thanks everyone so much for the great jailbreak!

I finally got my iPhone back to 1.1.2 after three days of not using it since Nate's 1.1.3 jailbreak didn't do so well for me...

Now that the devteam's jailbreak is out, I want to try again. Will I be able to use my AT&T SIM (non iPhone!) with this jailbreak? I have it working making calls on 1.1.2 (when it was at 1.1.1 it could not make calls, but updating made it work - it also made calls at 1.0.2, so I think that says something about the baseband).

Can I do the 1.1.3 upgrade and jailbreak and still make calls? Let me know, thanks!

Hellllllllpppp!!!

I used the guide and it was working perfectly through step 24. it appears everything installed through terminal but when the iphone goes to reboot, it stays stuck on the white apple logo. I left it alone for 20 min or so and then tried to manually reboot it but its still stuck on the apple logo!!! Please help. how do I get off of the white apple logo screen?

No, the 1.1.3 jailbreak requires an official SIM (as I've just found out...)

I'm on step 21 and i downloaded the bsd subsystem but the openSSH package is nowhere to be seen in the installer. it's not in the uninstall or anything. what do i do??

Thanks for this, anyone confirm? Even if you somehow were to stay on the 04.02.13_G modem firmware (what I have), you wouldn't be able to make calls under 1.1.3 with an AT&T non-iPhone SIM?

edit: how can unlocked phones stay unlocked, but mine couldn't? Explain please.

I can only assume that the AT&T situation is the same as the UK O2 one. I cannot use my non-iPhone O2 SIM under 1.1.3 with the new modem firmware.

At step 16, I don't see an "upgrade" option. iTunes offers two radio buttons - set up as a new phone or restore from back up, with an option saying "continue." Do I hit continue while holding down the option key?

How do you do a full backup of your iPhone?

Also, after I downgrade to 1.1.1 for the 2nd time, should I just have a stock screen since I have AT&T?

Hit continue - it'll sync your call / SMS records and settings and that type of thing. If you hit "new phone" it'll recognize your phone as empty from now on and you'll lose those records. I hit new phone once, and lost all of that (amazing, even through 20+ restores it all stayed intact until I got too impatient and skipped it). Just wait the 2 minutes, it'll be worth it. You'll then get the normal "upgrade" and "restore" options then.

What about leaving the modem firmware intact, as detailed here? Will that work?

Probably, I dunno. I foolishly followed a guide a couple of days ago that told me to upgrade the baseband, without seeing the post from an hour later saying that it didn't work.

Everything worked fine but now when i plug in my iphone into itunes i get a message saying "There is a problem with your iPhone, it may be damaged and cant be activated for service" what do i do?

I'm probably being too nervous, but following step 24, the program running in terminal closed, and now the phone has been sitting at the black screen with the silver apple logo on it for a few minutes. It does not have a little spinning wheel or anything...

Can someone tell me how to do this? After doing everything in the guide, my iPhone is up and running with 1.1.3 jailbroken and activated. Last time I did this, i tried to restore it and then select a different backup so that I could have all my stuff from before but it deleted the jailbreak. How do I get my backup from earlier onto this iphone?

you cant get previous 1.1.2 and 1.1.1 backups onto a 1.1.3 iphone, they arent compatible for some reason
