Well, you have to be mindful of the situation in the world, like with the chip shortage, the pandemic lock-down etc. I was lucky to pick the ONLY one available unit in my country. So these things are normal when considering the whole state of the world right now and the production limits in China.
I ordered a custom bike frame last summer in July. Normal lead time is 4 months. I felt lucky to get it after seven months (in February), and with everything I specified to complete the build for a rideable bicycle.

My issue is they happily sold new monitors to new customers, while not replacing my damaged item. I feel a replacement should take precedent. Then handle new orders..

And you know this how? This monitor is in short supply everywhere. If the company is fulfilling orders with limited supply, then delays are expected. They can't just delay someone else's order all of a sudden because of you. All I am trying to say is delays nowadays are common thing.

I have two on order. Dell still says it’s it’s in production this week and they expect to ship tomorrow for Monday delivery. I placed order April 7.

Factory calibration?
The profiles that are factory calibrated is sRGB, Rec709 and P3 no one else is it but they are still kind of good. And you need to download the .icc files from Dell to get the best picture of the profiles. But even the "standard" one that get's created in macOS for the display are good.
So if you don't have a calibration device like colorimeter or similar then just download the .icc profiles from Dell and select the profile that you want to use and don't forget to change it in the displays OSD also.

My two displays with 3 months difference in manufacturing date works the same with RGB control that are proving that the displays in fact are factory calibrated.
Can you provide the link for the icc files? I couldn’t find them.

Thanks!

It's been 2 weeks, still no replacement. Their customer service is unreal bad...

After 2.5 hours of talking with Dell, they are now quoting me end of month...

I am torn on not wanting to give them my business and realizing there aren't many options like this out there.

Can anyone direct me to an alternative? I do graphic design and need good color. Willing to buy a fancy gaming monitor if it ticks all the boxes.
Here’s a list of monitors that may fit your needs.

Hi! I'm considering the 27" Dell U2723QE but have some questions:

  1. How steady is the stand? Does it wobble?
  2. What is the measured percentage of the P3 color space? I'm interested in the measured numbers and not the advertised numbers, as these can differ a lot — my current HP U28 is advertised to cover 93% P3 but I can only measure 80% P3.
  3. What is the Delta E after calibration?
  4. Lastly: Is the light bleed as bad, and is it as widespread as the impression I get from this forum thread?
I'm a designer and digital artist, so color accuracy and color gamut are important to me. I have a calibration tool, so I'm mostly interested in the display performance after calibration.

Thanks in advance!

I have two of the displays, calibrated with a SpyderX.
  1. It's steady enough. If I tap the corner of the monitor, it'll bounce a little bit before coming to a stop. If I try and bump my desk, it doesn't move significantly.
  2. 95% of P3 color space, 86% of AdobeRGB. For comparison, my old 2017 27" iMac measured 100% P3 color space. When I set the two up next to each other and mirrored the display, the greens looked slightly more vibrant, and the skin tones looked slightly warmer, on the iMac. That being said, I'm still happy with it for editing in Lightroom.

  3. I didn't grab the Delta E, but the paper the monitor came with had values below 2.
  4. Light bleed is slightly there if I crank up the brightness to 100% and turn off my office lights at night. In practical use, it's not noticeable.
  5. To add one more data point, the measured contrast is closed to the rated contrast - I measured 1910:1 with 75% brightness.

After calibration and profiling it’s under deltae 0,5 if I remember correctly.
I have massive data dumps of it I can upload it tomorrow it’s night here now

What software are you using? I only get contrast ratio at 14-1500:1 out of my display. I’m thinking of RMA it to dell.

Thanks for the thorough replies!

How does the Dell U2723QE compare to a MacBook display? Let’s say the MacBook Pro without XDR just to make it a fair comparison.

It’s a bummer to use my current monitor (HP U28) going from a MacBook Pro 2021 and MacBook Pro 2019. The HP U28 is fine for web browsing, watching YouTube etc. Comparing it side by side with either of my MacBooks, when doing color critical work, it simply falls too short.

Well, it’s some difference but if you run it as 1440p I can’t complain

Well, bummer. Looks like my pair of U2723QE missed their expected ship date of 4/15 (yesterday) from Dell, so I’m not getting them Monday as expected. I hope this isn’t going to be a big delay.

Sorry to hear that. Delays are to be expected with the current situation of the world. I was lucky to get the only one U3223QE available in my country. Good luck and be patient.

I understand delays (I just took delivery on a bicycle frame that took the builder seven months to fabricate), but would be happier if Dell was more realistic about it, and update me when schedule slips. I have something to use in the meantime, but look forward to improving my professional workspace.

Just curious if anyone experienced the same recently, and how long the delay was. I’m in the U.S.

Dell is quoting me 4 weeks for my replacement; I have talked to many a workers.

I ordered a U3223QE a few days ago in the UK and the ETA is 26 July ?
U.S. and UK are different markets. Trying to compare makes little sense. I’m a Naim Audio (Salisbury, England) customer – for example – but the U.S. market for Naim gear is very different from the UK market. If I order something from a local dealer, it has little bearing on what happens when a UK customer orders from a UK dealer.

I'm going to see what Dell says tomorrow. If it's delayed an appreciable amount of time I may just get a pair of LG 27UN880-B 27" instead, for about the same price.
