That's great news. I hope that means I'll get mine earlier. I assumed the US and Canada shared the same order queues as seen with the AW3423
Actually, it's not such great news now. I had already asked Dell to cancel and decided to get the LG 32" displays.

Either way, I'll have two good monitors.

FWIW: I placed my order April 7, with an original promised delivery date of April 18. Now it looks like the two arrive tomorrow 21st or Friday 22nd.

My point is, no one knows if it’s a issue or if they just redesigned something as it’s a shortage of components
One of the changes which is certainly related to the revision is the change in HDR white point. The roll-off for the PQ curve is not so strong anymore as it was with Rev A00. Dell confirmed the change in white point in a private message to me: "The HDR white point is a change by our product engineering team as per the market needs. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about that."

And I saw that you also asked which brightness setting I've used for the contrast measurements (I'm not very active anymore on this forum). I've used different settings but here are the results of the default value measured with the SpyderX at five different places on the screen: respect. in the centre, top right corner, bottom right, bottom left and top left corner:

Standard mode - brightness 75%, average contrast 1970:1.
1NzDOxQu535NkvEEnASnIlsY3yc2bPGXliLl9IAHeupRiHi4cE.jpeg

Custom mode - all RGB sliders at 100%, brightness 75%, average contrast 2100:1.
1NzDOxpFwbZxmbX6GjhZWMVyv3PGauU0TwB9PF4jZJUqblAfyo.jpeg

It looks like that Rev A00's of the U2723QE do have a lower contrast ratio than the A01's. I've measured also lower contrast on two A00, also Tweakers.net measured lower contrast with their A00. And besides that, several other users with A00 are reporting lower contrast ratios.

Yes, it do seem like that.
I’ll call dell support tomorrow and ask them to send a new one.
1500 in contrast is 1/4 of what they promised.

I call that false marketing.
I can buy if it was 1900 as it always can diff.

Any coupons available to stack to get some more $$ off of the Dell? It's been a while since I've ordered from Dell, they used to have coupons that would stack and take extra money off. Is that still a thing?

When I ordered mine I got them for $625 each (they are showing $820 "estimated value"), plus free express shipping. I didn't use any coupons. The discount was applied automatically, but I had to select the express shipping option explicitly.

I was trying out the HDR settings for mine, and quickly came to the conclusion that HDR is completely unusable with my monitor. I have some HDR videos I took with my iPhone in the photos app, and when the HDR capability kicks in, it just blows out the entire video.

Sure, it was brighter, but all of the detail was completely lost. I don't know if I've ever seen such bad HDR.

Dell customer support is a hot mess. It looks like they told UPS to return my shipment, after I told them not to once I learned they shipped my order (after the promised date, but before the delayed date). They supposedly confirmed it was coming anyway, but that doesn’t jive with UPS tracking. I still have a pair of LG 34” 4K displays on hold at Microcenter, so that might be what I end up with now.

Their order support needs work. Amazon is more straightforward in that regard.

HDR on any LCD without a local dimming backlight is a joke. If your monitor doesn't have full array local dimming (VERY few do, but the Pro Display XDR does), Mini LED (even fewer and currently exceedingly expensive in monitors) or OLED (insanely rare in monitors) forget about HDR.

Not sure if it has anything to do with dimming zones, but you tell me. This is with the monitors Smart HDR feature enabled, and High Dynamic Range enabled in the Display Preferences. You can see how the texture in the cement is completely blown out. This is revision A00 manufactured in 2021, so maybe they fixed this in A01?

I see what you mean, and it isn't fixable. The monitor doesn't have the ability to show the image properly because it isn't dark enough (like an OLED) or bright enough (like MiniLED or Full array local dimming).

Think of it this way; true HDR is like a box of crayons with 128 colors, and your monitor only has a box of 8. The smartHDR feature is trying to take that one blue crayon and replicate something drawn with 10 different blues. Detail is lost... just like you're seeing on screen.

I don't think this will be better with Rev A01, because the roll-off in the PQ curve for HDR content is not so aggressive anymore as what it was with Rev A00. In picture below you see in the right picture at the bottom the PQ curve of a Rev A00 sample. If it should follow the yellow line (which should be technically correct), then even more details would clip. So I think that A01 will clip even more details.
dell-ultrasharp-u2723qe.jpg

This is the downside of a DisplayHDR 400 monitor, its dynamic range is just too limited for detailed highlights. With DisplayHDR 600 this is already much better, but for really impressive highlights you'll need DisplayHDR 1000 or even better DisplayHDR 1400

Hmm, appears there are many catches with this expensive monitor that I'm now coming to terms with. I bought them from shopBLT, since they had them at the discounted price before Dell discounted the price, and it's beyond the return dates now.

To summarize and share:
1) It's DisplayHDR 400 certified! But... the HDR on this monitor is next to worthless. It doesn't provide the promised improved contrast or color accuracy. Instead, it makes everything brighter and washes out colors in HDR photos and videos.

2) It's got enhanced USB-C connectivity! But... Regardless of how you set it up, you get the maximum of 10Gbps to share across 7 ports. If you run it through a hub that doesn't support DisplayPort 1.4, or a MacBook Pro pre-2020, you'll need to prioritize resolution and the USB-hub will be 1/10 the speed. This ones not necessarily Dell's fault, there are lots of USB Hubs out there. But Mac users would be better off docking with thunderbolt, using only 1-2 USB port on the monitor for a webcam.

3) It's got magnets for a custom fitting Dell sound bar and its Microsoft Teams and Zoom certified! But... the sound bar costs $80, takes up a USB port, and sounds worse than a cell phone speaker.

Anyways, I've been so focused on this monitor that I didn't notice that Dell announced the Dell P2723QE. Looks like basically the same monitor, a couple less USB ports, no HDR, 350 nits of brightness instead of 400, and 1:1000 contrast ratio. Not bad to save $150 from the Ultrasharp version.

Does anyone know if the U2723QE's "400 cd/m" brightness claim is valid for non HDR mode?

It don’t have P3 either so it’s not at all as the display that this thread are talking about

Yes, the maximum brightness of the U2723QE in SDR is indeed around the 400 nits. I've measured this with my unit and Tweakers also with theirs.

I got that pair of LG 32UN880-B 32" displays today. I'll never know if the Dells would have been better, but I am happy enough so far with the LGs, and actually like having two 32" displays instead of 27" (I had two 27" 1080p).

Just received my U2723QE!

What a great display! I've been overthinking this display decision for months and was pretty much set on this Dell. Then I started reading about the issues with Retina scaling, light bleed, IPS glow, yada-yada. I was SO close to spending a small fortune on the Studio Display, but very happy I didn't.

The U2723QE I received is perfect!

- Text is crystal clear on the 27" model in "looks like 1440p"
- There is no light bleed/IPS glow (that I have been able to see. I used a full black website to check).
- Colors are super nice.
- Powers my MacBook Air nicely and the built-in hub works wonders.

The adjustability is a nice bonus over the standard Studio Display (1990 EUR locally) and I also plan to connect my Xbox Series X for some gaming which I wouldn't have been able to do on the ASD.

Super pleased!

Glad you're so happy with your unit! Which revision do you have, A00 or A01? You can check it on the back of the monitor next to the serial number.

Oof, still stuck at awfully low brightness though. 350 cd/m2 isn't nearly enough for my very bright office.

Not nearly enough? Are you sure? 90% of monitors are 350-400 nits. People watched Plasma TVs in bright rooms and these were barely 100 nits.

I have a very bright room and I watch SDR content (around 300 nits) on my OLED TV with no problem.

Just to point out that @uller6 is wrong citing 350 cd/m², both U2723QE and U3223QE are rated at 400 cd/m² as per Dell specs.
