Hello there

I am just about to buy the U2723QE and I just would like to know if overall people are happy about it. I’m going to use it with a Surface Laptop from work and a MacBook Pro 2018. Could I use it to charge both devices? Also can it charge the battery of an iPad Pro?

EDIT: I placed the order. I shall get it next Thursday.
My order is delayed until the 5th of August. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, I'm not using HDR at all only SDR mode.
Is there any particular reason for not using HDR?

I can't use HDR with my Macbook Pro 2015 (old hardware). At first I was disappointed, but now I actually enjoy to look at the screen.

On the other hand, I let the HDR on while using Windows on my job's laptop, though not so enjoyable as the former for reasons (technical or psychological) that I'm not aware of.

I don't enjoy it. When HDR has been out for some time and when all of the softwares etc has adopted it then I think it will be good. On TV with movies it's an completely different thing then it's good but some videos are not good there either it depends on the maker.

Any more thoughts on your experience with the new firmware?

I'm very curious if Dell has done anything to address the low HDR color saturation on the U3223QE in addition to the HDR backlight strobing.

Outside of the U3223QE's low HDR color saturation issue the U3223QE is a significantly better panel - much better black uniformity, better adobe rgb performance, slightly better contrast, dramatically reduced backlight zone bleed etc..
Where can I download the new Firmware? I only find the driver and DDPM on Dells´s website.

Anyone else use the built-in Ethernet and experiencing this problem?
I started using the Ethernet port on the Dell U2723QE, but a few times now I have restarted and there is no ethernet connection. If I unplug/plug-in the USB-C connection, it will come back. But it's annoying.

2021 MacBook Pro 14
Just wonder, do you have some other USB peripheral plugged too? I have a different setup, but experiencing problems when some usb2 device is connected to the monitor.

Correct, they first need to fix another bug which I've found in lets say the alpha version :)
I have 2 bugs I wish they will fix.

With DDPM (dell display and peripheral manager), when you switch presets, the screen flickers for 10 seconds. It doesn’t do that when using the button at the back of the monitor.

Also, when you enable HDR support in monitor but not in macOS or windows, the game and movie preset doesn’t display colors correctly. The 27in version doesn’t do that. All other preset works well. In fact, the problem is that these 2 presets forces HDR even if it’s not enable in the OS. They should remain SDR if HDR isn’t enabled in macos/windows. Again only these 2 presets do that.

The way to solve that if keeping HDR support to off in the monitor but this way I can’t dynamically switch between sdr and hdr depending of my needs.

If you could pass those info along that would be great :)

I'm starting to think my 3223QE is defect.

Random "blank screen" on the display port and I now I just tested my HDMI port and no matter the cable to device (pc, mac, laptop, desktop), the image goes blank after 10 seconds. I need to turn off the monitor and on again to have control.

Can someone with the 32in model confirm his hdmi port works well?

Have you tried it with a other cable?

My bulkin tb3 cable didn’t work with it for one example.

Before I open a support ticket, I want to ask you guys something.

So I have a Dell U3223QE 4K display. It had 3 inputs : USB-C, DP and HDMI.

Now my macbook is connected to the USB-C port and I have no problem at all.

Problem is with my PC. I have a gaming desktop (gefore 1080). When I connect my PC to the monitor via DP, I have random blank screen and sometimes comes back by itself or I need to unplug/plug the cable to get the image back. This happens randomly. Can be OK for 2h than happens 5 times in 10 min.

With the HDMI port, same thing but it happens WAY often.

I use 4k res at 60hz. The monitor supports DP 1.4. I bought a new cable supposed to support that much bandwidth.

My GPU supports Displayport 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b. Do I miss something?

Can it still be a cable problem?

I also tried an hdmi cable I used for my home theater supporting 18gbs.

I'm not an expert but I'm kind of lost. I had another 4k monitor and it was working fine before.

Funny thing is the problem with DP seems to appear only while gaming. HDMI all the time

I have one last question for you guys who have the 32in (U3223QE)

I just want to see if it's really my monitor that has a problem.

You can test it on any ports, USB-C, HDMI or DP (problems occurs on all of them). Now I would like you to enable HDR in the monitor settings (any of the HDR modes), then in macOS or windows DON'T enable HDR.

So you enable support for HDR but you don't enable it on your computer. Now try the presets. In my case, Game and Movies modes are all messed up. It seems that the monitor is forcing HDR on these exact 2 presets even if the computer hasn't enable it. All other presets, Standard, RGB, etc should work fine.

I also have the 27in version (U2723QE) and this works as it should

thanks for your help!

tl;dr :
1- enable HDR in monitor
2- Don't enable HDR in macOS or windows
3- Try preset Game or Movie and check is colors are all messed up

Well I think the monitor is faulty. I tried a lot of things. With the same computers and cables, I'm unable to get a single black screen on the 27in (U2723QE) while it's happening a lot on the 27in.

DP less often, HDMI very often.

USB-C? never happened... strange

Those random black screens are often caused by interference. Make sure the AC power cord is not near any of the data cables, that fixed it on my previous Dell monitor, just moving them apart.

Not having any issues on my current one (U2723QE).
