Is there a firmware update for the 32" U3223QE?

I am having a strange issue - the screen turns black ever so often when I was away from my desk and I just came back, sometimes the display will black-out for a second. Only happens the moment when I am just coming back to the desk, never when I am in front of the monitor and using it.
Ideas why?

hello guys,
i have problem with my macbook pro 14' and the dell monitor (P3223qe). I have connected the laptop to the monitor with ubc-c (which the monitor had). I have also connected the monitor with ethernet. The problem is that when i wake up the macbook the ethernet connection doen't work. If i restart the macbook, it works fine. The problem is when it goes for sleep and after wake.
Does anyone know what can i do?

Don’t use the ethernet in the display. I know this isn’t the solution you want, but it uses a suboptimal RealTek chipset that doesn’t always play well with macOS.

I do not have one of these displays myself, but this is what I’ve read from others who’ve experienced a similar issue.

Wow honestly an amazing thread full of good information! I’m debating between the u2723qe and the u3223qe - after a few of you folks have had the monitors for a few months what are peoples recommendations? I’ll be pairing mine with a m1 MacBook Air. Guess the real difference for me is whether I go for the 27” with slightly better ppi or the larger 32” but with less ppi. Oh the dilemmas lol

I'd go with u3223qe. I had u2720q previously and now have u3223qe. This was the intentional step as I eventually planned to move to 32-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio monitor. I use it with MBP i5 16/512 2020 and Mini M1 16/512. The use cases are coding and photo development.

u3223qe will give you more real estate as you will be able to set up 3008 x 1692, what is the next step after 2560x1440 on 27-inch model, and is the same as the previous size in terms of the UI scale. Yes, the lower PPI is noticeable if you look at the monitor pretty closely, but I should say it is a subjectively exaggerated claim taking into account the price and specs. Of course, Apple Pro Display XDR is much better but it costs, you know. I'd say, u2515h with the 2560x1440 panel was much worse in terms of anti-aliasing. And also what I noticed, with the native resolution of 3840x2160 fonts look worse than with scaled HiDPI 3008x1692.

nice, looks like BetterDisplay can do it as well
You're right. Works well with u3223qe, just checked. Removed Better display as I don't need it anymore, set up MonitorControl instead. But I cannot reach native Dell's DDPM app. Looks like a conflict.

You can switch of DDPM for certain things pretty sure, i have them both working but on a U34W21.

Possibly put it in manual mode.

You know what i have found that conflicts is Magnet

I ordered the 27" last week and received it last week Friday. I like it so far.

I will likely get a second 27" in the foreseeable future.
Just ordered my second one. I caught a really good discount from Dell on my first one. I got a good price match on the second one from Dell because Amazon was offering it for like $105 lower than Dell's regular price.

Guys, seriously need your help on brainstorming what can be causing my issue:

1. The display turns black for a second when I come back to my desk, after being away for a few minutes. This is not always, but most of the times. Just as I sit on my chair, I see the screen blacks out for a second, then goes back to normal.
2. The display never turns black when I am sitting at my desk and working.

The QUESTION IS - what can be causing the display to black out at the moment I am coming back to my desk.
Could it be some sort of magnetic interference with my body?
I am seriously without a clue.
Please help with ideas what can be causing this.
As far as I know there are no proximity sensors on this display, nor are there any proximity sensors on my two computers I am using this display with - a Mac Pro 2013 and a Mac mini M1.

Is anyone getting 30fps in Ventura when connected to u27/u32? I didn´t find any options to change from 30 to 60fps.

PS: low power mode is turned to "never"

AFAIK macOS still doesn't support daisy-chaining via DisplayPort (because it doesn't support the type of Multi-Stream Transport required for that), so... no.
I still don't get that one, I've never heard anyone else come up with a coherent explanation as to why either. MST isn't exactly exotic to support, nor difficult. On the other hand they had mystifying restrictions on 4k over 30hz using HDMI for a long time too so maybe someone in the graphics components div just likes screwing with people

It's hard to say. I didn't dare to upgrade to Ventura yet, so I'm not able to check. But what is your connection type?
