Yeah, mine shows, "Not shipped yet" in the status. But, it is still scheduled to ship today according to my online status.
Here's to hoping!
BTW, mine was also an education discounted MBP...

It's not a house, it's a home.
All I can say is that I think we are being hosed. I hope I am wrong though! The apple reps have said for weeks (I ordered the hour they came out), that they would ship welllll before November 7th, but here we are - November 7th...I really hope this ships to all of us today!!!

Just got off the phone with Apple to check my order status and the representative reassured my order would ship today. After reading previous threads I am somewhat pessimistic. This is what my order looks like:

in the mean time, those of you who went with the 160 5400 should feel a bit of a boost when you read this benchmark.

http://www.storagereview.com/articles/200511/notebook_3.html
>>the 5400 is on par with the 7200 [relates to the speed of 7200 being too much for the drive's chip]. ie as opposed to going for the 100gb 7200 drive, you've gained 60gb and have the same performance or even slightly better. (in so far as read speed [ex: gaming] goes, that is. in terms of write speed, i would not be using a 2.5 drive for any dv importing, and that's the only heavy write activity i know of in that high degree)

http://www.storagereview.com/articles/200511/notebook_3.html
>>the 5400 is faster than 7200 [relates to the speed of 7200 being too much for the drive's chip]. ie as opposed to going for the 100gb 7200 drive, you've gained 60gb and have the same performance or slightly better.

If the 7200 drive apple uses in the new c2ds are the new Hitachis, then I know from a link I posted on Tom's hardware (also shows the 53 mb/sec that your article shows) that they are much faster than the PMR 5400s. The main advantage is overall throughput for those who need to stream large amounts of data on or off the drive at the fastest possible speed. For normal use I doubt either drive will yield a performance advantage over the other. If the benchmarks show that the new 5400 drives are indeed faster in most cases than the 7200s, Apple will have some explaining to do as their own web page said something about having the fastest performance. The Seagate drives just aren't up to snuff compared to the Hitachis. If I get that Hitachi 7200 I'll be happy.

One of the reasons they can't spin the PMR drives as fast supposedly (from talking with a friend of mine) is due to the higher error rates PMR storage yields. This is all corrected with error correction of course, but the faster they go the higher the error rate and that's why they're slower. Just something I heard anyway. I've not tried to verify.

4 box tops sent to Battle Creek Michigan

I, and it seems like everyone else, have been transported back to when they were 8 and had sent off for a prize from the back of a cereal box.

It is nice to have everyone here to commiserate with though.

In two weeks time this thread will seem quite silly to all, myself included, who have posted.

Cheers All

Well, that's good news. I'm concerned that the 3GB could potentially delay things. But your rep thinks not, I guess.

The reps don't know squat. The guy I talked to even said as much. This is one of the reasons I hate Apple so much as a company. Everything is so closed and secretive even their own people don't know what's going on.

In..and out

I just called the Apple Store where my name is on a waiting list for the 17" MBP. The woman went back to check (since they just got some kind of shipment) and came back saying "Yep, they're in -- but we need to first call the people on the waiting list". When I told her I'm probably right at the top of the list (turns out I'm #2), she went back to check again and - lo and behold - they're not in! WTF

I'm gonna call again in half an hour. Hopefully I'll get some other sales person, otherwise I'll just speak into the phone through my tear soaked handkerchief

Mine also, from 7th and 15th to this:

Estimated shipping: 14 Nov, 2006
Estimated delivery: 21 Nov, 2006 - 22 Nov, 2006

At least they tell us, and it's not halfbad for me, since I'm going away until the 15th anyway.. But still not good, I'd prefer to get it BEFORE I left. :)

Called Apple, got told everything looks good for shipping today, though he said my macbook didn't appear to have gotten expedited shipping, he said that went to my copy of Parallels and the MagSafe airline adapter. He said he upgraded the shipping on my macbook as well, but I'm going to call back in a couple hours and make sure he did. Others might want to check as well (I questioned the 'shipping nov 7, delivering nov 13, with 2 day shipping').

As far as ship dates, my order status still says (as of 942 pst) Ship by 11/7, Deliver by 11/13.

I've waited a long time to switch to Apple, this would be a very poor first experience if I get a delay on the shipping day. I'm not overly impressed so far, given that I (and others) have been told prior to today that I should expect shipping well in advance of the 10th business day. Clearly that was not the case.

Stock here too:
MBPRO 17/2.33/2G/160/256VRAM/SD-DL-NOB

Ordered 08:21 AM US/Central on the 24th, and I'm in Norway.

Ordered with ADC-discount though, only reason I can see that they would push me back, but I haven't seen anyone else shipping today either, so who knows..

Would suck though, it's my 10th Mac, so I wish the rep would have told me that I suddenly became a second-rate customer when I used my ADC-discount on this one if that is indeed the case.

Anyway, let's hope for some quick action! :)

And I didn't call them, I will soon though if it doesn't ship.. (I'm tired of getting some nitwit on the phone that can't give me a good answer. Feels like they're making up fairytales every time I ask for something more specific than my estimated shipping date.)
