Here are my stats as of 12:58 PM ET:

Custom configuration
2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM-2x1GB
160GB Serial ATA Drive@5400rpm
SuperDrive 8X
17" Glossy Widescreen Display

Ordered: Oct 24, 2006 at 08:51 AM PST
Ships by: Nov 07
Delivers by: Nov 15

My ships and delivers estimates have not changed since I placed the order on Oct. 24. If this does not get updated by tomorrow morning to indicate that my MBP C2D has shipped, I will call Apple to find out what is going on.

I ordered a 17" 2.33, 3G on Oct. 24th. I'm still showing shipping Nov. 7 with delivery Nov. 15 - same as it's been since Oct. 26th (my initial order had a Nov. 8th ship date, but changed a day later to the 7th).

If there is a delay, do you think we'll actually find out why?

Does Mac have a history of "feeling our pain" and make an effort to communicate?

No probably not. Apple makes great hardware and software and I have heard their customer service is fairly good. But with Apple admiting there is a problem or a mistake has been made Apple tends to be tight lipped. I like Apples products but I don't care much for Apple itself.

Well said. I've said it before (in this thread, too) and I'll say it again. Apple is a horrible company and has been since the day the Macintosh came out. From closed architecture causing all their technical users to switch over to IBM PCs to not being open enough to tell people what's coming. Horrible company with a few good products.

My shipping date has just gone from the 7th to the 14th!
Estimated delivery date shot from 14th to 24th!!!!

My friend has just had his increased from 7th to 21st!!!! ETA 30th.

Both based in the UK.

WTF!! Why release them a month before they can supply! The AppleStore still says 7-10 days...NOT PLEASED.

as of 1:30pm Eastern Standard Time (Toronto, Canada) >>> my order still says as my signature entails. "Ships by: Nov 07" - even though an apple rep on the phone said "Nov 09 for sure" around 10AM today (EST again).

I think what we're seeing is Apple failing to anticipate demand for 17" C2Ds, particularly those with 2.33GHz CPUs. I'd wager that someone in Cupertino or Shanghai is getting ripped a new one this morning for blowing the forecast. This is not a situation that Apple management (Jobs, especially) would be very happy about.

Still, if that was the case they would probably have started sending out SOME. I'm leaning towards something technical... No one has even seen this machine yet, who knows how's it coming along.

Just an fyi there are a few of us who ordered CTO 15's that are still waiting on our orders, I ordered the morning of the 25th (3) 15' 2.33/3GB/160HD/Matte was given a delivery date of Nov 3rd, On the morning of the 4th I got an email delaying my order until the 29th. SO hopefully you 17's dont get the same delay as I, good luck. I think there is a shortage of the 2gb stick, thats my theory as Ive seen very few people post that they have recieved a machine with 3GB, but Ive seen pleanty of CTO HD machines delivered. I wish they would tell us, I would go with 2GB if it meant I would recieve my machine in a timely manner, especially since they already charged me 700+ for apple care on the machines.

Good luck to all, and remember a 15' order may not have been any better, in my case at least.

As i said before my ship date has changed to 14th from 7th so i have complained to Apple.

They gave me £50 ($95) off my order and tried to escalate it.

I think that the 17" stock MBP is a great deal. I plan on getting one in a few years after college.

Seems that way! I'm not pleased. I have bought quite a lot of Apple's now and this is the third time they have messed up!

Maybe we'll all get a free shuffle...or maybe not...

The days not over yet. Most likely, the teams in Shanghai and Cupertino are working on how best to triage orders. It sounds terrible, but the pattern so far seems to be that they're delaying European orders, while keeping the early (October 24th) U.S. orders on schedule.

Hmmm...What did you say to get that?
Seems my free iPod shuffle theory isn't far from the truth...

- said 7-10 days, 10 working days is today
- need it ASAP for work
- when i phoned this morning they said it would ship tomorrow (one day late)
- How are you gonna compensate me?

[Sound sad!!]

I hope this is not just a UK problem, i think if i should wait then everyone should!

At least I'm here waiting too..

Still no stores or magazines or anything that got the machines? I for one think it's kinda strange, the 15"'s arrived in a much different way.
And if they weren't able to recognize that there would be pretty big demand for a Rev B of their first Intel-prolaptop they need to rethink who does their forecasts I'd say..

Last part of my Order.

When I ordered my Macbook I also got myself an ingraved iPod Nano, A 17" Macbook Case, and an iTunes gift card for a gift. They all came except for the macbook. My new poor case is just sitting in the corner with no work to do. Apple come on think about all the new cases that we bought.

Obviously you're not a golfer.
well, as much i am about to be yelled at and insulted by those i have argued with before about the merits of the 17", i just placed my order for a 15" 2.33 MBP with the 160GB drive. turns out i am going to take on a project that will involve more travel than i was planning on, combined with the difficulty in finding a bag and how i am going to use it with an external monitor at home made me finally commit to the 15.

alas... i will miss this thread... :(

Well, I use my 23 inch panel every single day.. but half my life is mobile, and half of it is stationed there.. and I need the real estate wherever I go (digital media of all sorts, from photography to video). Furthermore for the increase of a mere 1.5 by 1.0 inch in size, I don't care - plus, the 17 has 4 speakers (as opposed to 2) and 3 USB (as opposed to 2). But as they say.. "to each his own" :) I hope you enjoy your choice. Good luck on receiving it before 2007 ;)

my order: 17" 2.33 160 2GBram glossy, ordered 10:08 pacific time on Oct. 24 (day of announcement), shipping to Canada.

just checked order status at apple.ca -- still shows "ships by: nov. 07 -- not yet shipped".

well, at least they've still got 11 hours until the earth completes another rotation and we find ourselves in nov. 08

perhaps our 17" MBP's are being affected by the Jobs RDF (Reality Distortion Field) ... maybe they made the MBP C2D announcement a bit too early?

i am on your side; i prefer the 17" overall. but my situation changed and the 15" makes more sense to me now.
