Guys I'm from Singapore... I have only ask for the normal configuration never really check if the CTO will be in at the same time or not.

Asondica nothing fishy about. Me too is waiting for the 17". And base on my apple store that call me, he told me the 17" is in but waiting to be clear only and should be in the store by this week.

Well true or not I do not know. But we will see if I can get the 17" C2B by this week.

Congrats, please post here when you get it. :) How long does customs usually take in Singapore?

Wow, so I ordered a Dell with the 2.33 Ghz C2D and 3GB of RAM. Similar configuration as my new MBP, but with the 15" screen.

I ordered it on the 8th. They estimated it would ship on the 16th. And it actually shipped on the 11th!

Under-promise, over-deliver. Can you hear that, Apple?

we've all been lied to by apple reps. i.e. don't believe everything you hear from apple. still, i hope what you heard was in a new light - one of honesty for a change (on apple's part).

????? I've never had a problem with 15" screens, I think you may be full of it. Besides, I upgrade at every revision, so I'll have this MBP for about 8 months or so.

he meant that you obviously prefer 17 for size.. and your impatience overpowered you. he is suggesting that, eventually, you'll see that it was sily to have not waited just a little longer. *shrug* i agree, so long as we don't see a 2 month wait here.

Shipping Between the 13-14th

My credit card company called me a few minutes ago to confirm my purchase at Apple. I quickly called Apple to reprocess the card and all is well they said and my 17" is expected to ship between the 13th and 14th. My online order status says between the 13th and 15th. so who knows maybe this week is the week. This is the first time my card was charged for the laptop purchase.

I just got off the phone with.. "Angela".. who seems to have taken this whole lying bit up a notch. She said that 17s have already shipped.. but said that she did not know when they had begun. What's the point in a lie like that?

gotta be good news...

This has to be good news: I ordered a stock 17" on Oct. 24th and put the charge on my checkcard (not a credit card). This whole time there's never been a pending hold or anything in my checking account. BUT, as of this morning, my bank shows my checking account has been charged for my MBP order. From my past experiences, cash accounts aren't charged (or even hold amounts) until an item has been shipped or is pending shipment!! Sorry to get everyone excited if this doesn't pan out, but this has to be a good thing. :D

What's silly is being without a mobile machine for a business trip next week so I can get production work done. THAT'S silly. Besides, I get a pretty hefty discount so if I REALLY want the 17", I'll just sell the 15" and upgrade to the 17". But for now, getting a machine NOW is more valuable to me than getting 2" more screen space.

yay.
my point was that, as i'm quite sure then that you have been with a core duo mbp for a while, you likely could have lasted for that mere week longer --- anyhoo, your call.. so.. with all sincerity - enjoy. and have fun with the trip :)

Leopard or 17" MBP C2D first?

Ordered 11/06/06

MacBook Pro, 17" Glossy
2.33 GHz
160HD
***UPGRADE*** 3GB RAM

Ships by: Nov. 20 - Nov 24

Hummm...since no one has recieved there 17" MBP C2D because of whatever reason, I'm hoping that they do resolve some of the issues existing on the 15" that some have received before sending out the 17" Better yet...include a free upgrade for the Leopard!!! I do hope that we received the 17" before Leopard release though.

22% more screen space,, I had 3 - 15 inch Power books.. If you are FCP, Motion or Adobe whore.. you will need 17 inch.... well.. "need" is a bit strong.. lets just say you will be disgruntled when you see me with my 17 inchs.. bigger is better......

exactly. it's nice to know someone else out there doesn't let impatience cloud their mind :)

motion is SO bad on my old pb1.25 at 1280x854 when i'm on the road. i'd die if it weren't for my 1920x1200 panel here. i can't wait for the 17" :D

here.. i made a little mock-up showing the huge difference between the panels.. flickr has auto-downsized it as i do not have a pro account yet, but even looking at it as a differential in scale is enough to see it.

I believe good news is coming guys and gals. My credit card is showing exactly the amount missing from the available funds that the MBP is. That wouldn't be extraordinary under normal circumstances, but this is the second time on this order which leads me to believe they will be charging it.

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing a second authorization on their card.

You're right, bigger IS better, that's why I hook it up to a 30" ACD at home...and FCS is great on a 15"

Mine expired yesterday and no, as of 2 minutes ago they have not reserved any credit on my cc. I hope this is a good sign.

I ordered on Oct. 25th on the Canadian education store.

This might be a good sign then. I ordered mine on the 24th at 6:11 am Pacific time. My original authorization expired. If they are starting to charge people's cards again then it's a good sign for sure.

Did you already have one authorization that expired? Or is this the first?

Hmmm...very true...You'd figure unless they are 100% sure they can get them out by next week they wouldn't authorize ppl's cards again.

Hmm. Might not be a good sign then. Maybe they quit doing the authorizes after orders made on the 24th or something. Maybe it was queued up in the system. Or maybe, as another poster suggested, they now know they are about to ship and started going through the system.

Apple told me they will not re-authorize cards, they will just charge?

They also told me today, that mine was in production and could ship tomorrow or Tues. at the latest. We'll see, they told me this on Nov. 2 or 3rd, when my original ship date was Nov. 7th.

I've actually lost that x-mas morning excitement I had last week.
