Shipment delayed to the 16th!

Stock 17" ordered 24th at 2:17pm.

CRAP! Just got the same message from Apple!

Looks like us in the UK (I'm in Belfast) are getting screwed good and proper. The tone of the message is pretty galling. "We trust you received our email indicating a revised ship date for the product you ordered. We regret to inform you that we must revise the ship date once again..."

The fact that they left it to the last minute TWICE to tell us is REALLY annoying...

dang, that sucks guys :(
well, at least all the release-week orders seem to be shipping out this week right?

i've not seen anyone order a modem with the mbp, so i went for it (instead of making a separate order for it).. just to see how they pack it, whether it affects the ship time, etc.

so far, i guess it has no effect on one's ship time, as i'm part of the first batch of shipments. next, i'll get to see just how it's included - whether it comes in that foil bag like in the store.. or a lil cellophane wrapper like the other accessories in the MBP box. i'll take unboxing pics of course.

and yes.. i'm a nerd, i know. :)

So the people who ordered on the 24th Oct in the UK are getting emails notifying delays......

I ordered on the 30th and my estimated shipment date is the 13th Nov (today) but I've received no email. How the hell does this work?! Are they gonna email me in 6 days saying "Oh, by the way, we're not shipping your order for another few days yet." ??????????

How disappointing. Did you also order on the 24th or later? I'd like to know if anyone who ordered on the 24th might be getting this email also.

I ordered on the 24th and have just received the November 16th email.

It's a stock 17" too.

It'd be nice if they'd share the details of their incompetence rather than hiding behind a couple of bleak emails.

this was the high point...

We fulfill all orders in the order they are received. Once your order has dispatched,

you will receive a Dispatch Notification email, which will enable you to track your order.

I got all excited there when I saw another email from Apple, I also dont mind that it says 16th Nov ...cos, although my last email said 13th, the order status said 22nd Nov ....so its a wee bit of progress!

But at least we know they are FINALLY on their way. How long does delivery to the UK take??? Is it longer for N. Ireland???

I must pass along that my singular experience with a Vaio was not good. After less than three years of light use by my wife, her Vaio Z1VAP ate its hard-drive (yes, physical spontaneous destruction), and its fans have a mind of their own seemingly running at maximum under low-load and not running hard enough under high-load. It's original battery lasted less than a year (but I guess I should be grateful it didn't explode). Plus, while initial build-quality was high, the thing creaks and rattles like it's been put through five hard years, not barely three.

Yes, it was only one experience, so feel free to discard my experience as a meaningless data-point, but I felt a need to pass along my experience to you nonetheless.

Gavin.

Mine just got pushed back to the 16th too :(

Yes, more useful feedback from Apple would be nice, but then they've never been an open company.

By fulfill all orders in the order they are received, they mean show you a little insight to what might be happening to your much sought after new workhorse in the order they are recieved. More or less confirming my suspicions that I'll receive an email in 6 days (given that I ordered 6 days after the 24th) telling me that my 17"MBP is delayed also!

It hurts!!!! My GF ordered her 15"MBP the same day as I ordered mine. She's had it a week now!!!

I got the email an hour ago saying it's now by the 16th for shipping.
Why do they keep leaving it until the last minute to tell us, really annoying.

Atleast we know they are shipping now, hopefully I'll have mine sometime next week.

Just been on the phone to Apple:

The guy said that for the 17" model there was a shortage of parts. As some manufactures had let them down. So he said that they are going to ship them, and I quote "It would be very unlucky, to have your order delayed twice" as I asked woud my order be delayed again.

Ordered stock MBP 17", UK Education store (for Individuals) with a BT MM, Mouse Mat (Crumpler Slip) , and iWork.

It's my first Mac, can't wait! Litterally!!! But I'll be well pleased when I do get it. :)

Yay mine shipped too at 6:23. Ordered in the first five minutes with an edu discount. Also I got the 7200 RPM drive so just because you didn't get stock shouldn't delay you...

I don't know if I should be happy or sad. If it hadn't shipped by tomorrow I was gonna call for a bigger discount (already got 75$ plus shipping). But I guess on the bright side I won't have anything to complain about anymore...my wife will be happy :)

Well, we've already seen people have double-delays over the past couple of pages of this thread. I wonder if these folks are lying or if they simply don't know a damn thing of what's going on?

Either way - good luck :)

shipping dates

Waiting is always difficult, but it must be said that from my original delivery date of Nov 13th I'll get the MBP now probably around 21st, that is about 6 business days later. For a complex product like a new model laptop it is not THAT earthshaking. Of course I would have been happier with a speedy delivery after ordering Oct 24th:( . Let's be satisfied with the fact that everybody's MBP will be shipping (and for some delivered) this week. It'll be fun to track the plane with the load of MBP's heading for Europe on the 16th.

I bet you all want to know how my call went to Apple?

Well i phoned up and got passed on to the escalation team.

They put me on high priority processing and delivery so it should ship in 24-48 hrs and get delivered 3 days after that.

I then told them i had an e-mail saying it won't ship until 16th and they said they can't do much to help then.

Once i do get my MBP i have to phone this same lady on her direct number and she will sort out a good will gesture, i was offered £50 lasted week so it will be more!

Let's just hope our babies don't have the few issues that some 15s have been having! I'd die if I have to wait even LONGER, due to having it need a repair the day I get it!

I am also interested to see the panel quality, referencing of course the many many posts of people about their uneven-brightness 15" panels.

Wow, talk about extortion. They already offered you £50, and you're getting what you paid for. The fact that they can't foresee production problems doesn't mean you should get free stuff. It's a f**king computer for god's sake. Get over it.

BTW, after all was said and done, I wound up paying $2409. This includes the edu discount, $100 off from Apple, and the $100 off for the 100 gig 7200 rpm drive.
