I don't see a problem with Apple making less profit for these delayed shipments. I guess it must have hurt to have changed your order for a 15" only to see 17" models start shipping. Especially when people getting 17" MBPs have haggled some good savings too.

exactly.

i bet he feels even more silly, as he works with film - and is now stuck with a 22% less screen real estate for nearly the same cost and ship-time it'd be to have been patient.

his loss :)

i can't wait to get mine, i've held off on intel to splurge on the c2d all this time - and it'll be worth it :D

MC stated in a much earlier post that he hooks his laptop up to a 30" monitor, so actual laptop screen size is not as important.

meaning that he never works on the road?
i doubt it ;)

Just wait until he finally does see all 17" 's in REAL life. He'll be stifling that inner voice that will want to have him kicking himself for not waiting the 3 or 4 days more. But, with just enough rationalization, it will all be better as that moment passes.

yup. i imagine that'll be the way it goes. but i must say.. his ongoing "moment" of arrogance is rather irritating.

This might sound mean and I don't mean it as such but would you please give us a quick review when you get it to let the rest of us know if the 17"ers are lemons or not. With so much money riding on these purchases you'd be going the lot of us a great service! :)

:( Damnit...I will call apple in a few hours when I get home.

Also got my shipping notice at 9:47 am, only reason for BTO is Modem. I got the modem for internet access when traveling.

I noticed the following in your signature?:
"SD-DL-USA"

What does this represent?

Not a happy camper here... My stock 17" was suppose to ship out today, but instead the order status page changed to Nov 14- Nov 16 ship date. I called and spoke with "Margret" and she told me she wasn't able to do anything like issue a credit but she said she upgraded the shipping for me. I told her that someone had already told me he'd done that and that I didn't believe it made a bit of difference anyway. I could see her shrug and she told me there really wasn't any more she could do and she didn't know anything more than I did regarding when it would really ship. That was a classic waste of time. Thanks Apple!

I know you weren't asking me, but I'll respond anyway. It means SuperDrive, Double Layer. You know what "USA" means, right?:D

As of this weekend, my store was still "thinking" they might get them on/by the 14th. I should have an update later today.

I really hope I can find one next week (I´m going to the US on the 23rd, if I can´t find a 17-incher I´ll have to wait a whole month :()

Oh please. I've cut features on a 15" Apple notebook. I'm not some 10 year old amatuer who doesn't know what he's doing. I've been doing this for years, besides, I plug into a 30" ACD at home which gives me roughly 60% more real estate than you if you want to start busting out comparisons. I may have 22% less real estate than you on my notebook (at least until 2 weeks from now when I order my 17" and sell my 15") but I paid more than 30% less than you did for yours...and I'll pay 25% less than you did for your 17". Sorry to be a jerk...but I've had a hectic couple of weeks and see no reason why I shouldn't take my stress out on the internet...after all, that's what threads like this are for...venting frustration.

I thought u had gone!
