thanks for your investigative report ;)

so by the looks of it, yeah - the flights should touch down at around 5AM Shanghai time, which would be 4PM, here in Toronto (or 1PM in California).

yay :)

So your order status actually says it's left Shanghai or is it like mine--they've just squizzed in the tracking info?

"Left Origin" to me means its on a plane right now, doesn't it?

Mine says it is in Shanghai just today! My comments for shipping on the 13th (supposedly "Shipped") were, "Missed FedEx shipping cutoff"!
So.... Looks like Apple dropped the ball AGAIN and now I am one day behind. I wasn't going to call to attempt to get any money back, but now I am going to call and demand my expedited shipping be refunded ($15 big deal, but it is the principal). My two day shipping now looks like 3 to 5. ...and I had a very early morning notification yesterday that it shipped YESTERDAY. Argh!

actually, the "missed cutoff" doesn't mean much. they're shipping in pallets.
the flights aren't taking off until 9pm... if they picked it up around noon, i'd guess they're on the planes.

so un-bunch your panties.

yeah, it looks like they missed the tracking-update at flight departure. perhaps it'll come when the plane lands. not sure. either way, it's definitely a safe bet that the two flights reported are carrying our babies :)

this has happened plenty of times in people's tracking records that i've seen.. so don't feel as if it's part of the horrid 17 inch experience. our 15 inch friends have seen it happen too.

still, it is irritating i admit.

oh well. it'll be in my hands before the end of the week anyway - likely wednesday or thursday :)

flight 24 and 90 update

ok, i've been looking at historical flight data.
those are the usual flights. they both go to anchorage, but 24 goes on to chiacgo and 90 goes on the memphis. in fact, it looks like they only spend a couple hours on the ground in anchorage.

they may take some off to go to other hubs (like indianapolis).

but it looks like they'll be in memphis or ord by midnight tonight.

that's pretty cool, if you ask me.

and i don't think i'm that easy to impress.

mind you..
i am of course assuming that all of the north american orders, including canadian ones, are coming across in that one flight, as that is what we've been seeing, right?

also, once is says left origin, it doesn't tend to update until it lands somewhere... so we won't see an update until after it lands in anchorage.
also, the speed at which the updates propigate is slower than the package.

the package will prolly have already left anchorage before we're told that it ever got there. i just hope that the updates get up to speed by the time they say "on truck for delivery." 'cause i wanna be there to greet my baby at the door.

and yes, i'll be ditching work to do it tomorrow, or thursday.
it depends on if they get the packages to the trucks before they leave.

i'm not sure how they'd do it, but i've noticed that the guys at fedex are very good at what they do.

When are they gonna leave for UK?

I have waited too long, Apple have stopped me canceling today, but some of you had that in US last week, so it may be another week until it ships.

I can't wait! Just ship it Apple, i ordered early, i should get it early!

nope, you should be good.
the flight is either about to leave a little late or it just took off...
i have a feelign you'll (like me) get an update tonight when it arrives in anchorage. (that's in 8 hours from now)... and they have to do whatever it is they do... so like i said in an earlier post, the package will prolly have long since left anchorage before you hear that it got there...
but you won't hear anything until it gets to anchorage.
the "left origin message" is the last you'll hear of it being in china.

Does this mean it probably won't ship / get put on fedex until tomorrow?

...........

definitely buddy, on the updates needing to speed up as it gets closer.

and haha, same here - two 1 hour lectures? to heck with that :)
even -if- i weren't this excited to get it - i have to be here for it, as the depot is a 40 minute drive by car (god knows by public transit), and i don't even have a car :)

Strangely slow...

That's odd. My MBP was one of the first announced shipping (i.e., early morning email yesterday), yet on the FedEx tracking page, they just added "Estimated delivery Nov 17, 2006 10:30 AM". Based on others' tracking info, that seems to be a day late, yet FedEx has seemed to be pretty accurate in the past for me (unlike UPS).

Anyone else have a 17th delivery? (I'm in CA).
