did you get your 17" C2D MBP yet?

why did my mbp get to anchorage at 11 am and has not moved yet? Is it stuck in customs? I am hoping that both fedex and isnoop havent updated and its really on a plane right now.

EDIT:It departed the Anchorage location :)

It's good it departed ANC. Early this year, I imported a tablet PC from Japan (which had the DL DVD writer). Optical drive is subject to FDA. So, your shipment needs to go through both Customs and FDA, which are totally separate transaction and process. Mine was held for one day (which is normal).

Hi Asondica! Are you still in detention? Just curious how your new 17" is working out for you. And whatever happened to our lawyer friend, Darkwing? Either his arrived DOA, or he's really excercising a lotta restrait :D
 
I just got mine this morning. A good thing too. I had little time to play with it, I put it straight to work. Right out of the box.

The screen has a little grain in it but it is wasn't noticeable by me until I started looking for it and at the range I have it I can't see it.

The Backlighting seems OK.

Glossy doesn't seem to be much of an issue it just makes everything look a little better.

It is Quiet real quiet. Compared to my 667mhz powerbook.

The temperature is a little cooler, then my powerbook.

the 7200 rpm drive is quiet as well.

All in all it is good system I consider it worth the money. I just wish I had it last week.

I am sure there are better screens out there but it fits my needs.

Sadness--still no movement on mine. Stock with matte screen, edu institution purchase ordered late afternoon Oct. 25. From the start it's been listed as shipping today (Nov. 16). Well, it's now 11:20 pm EST and absolutely no news or change in order status.

I'll call tomorrow morning and see if they can give me any info. It's really annoying to read about November orders that have now shipped. The only thing out of the ordinary is that I added an extra power cord. Could that delay things???

Really wanted to get this before Thanksgiving, but it's not looking good now.

I am in the same boat.. except I did not order an extra power cord.. although I did request my 17inch C2D come with 3 GB of ram and that Steve Jobs sign the top with a red sharpy "I LOVE YOU"

My first impressions after two hrs of use...

Glossy Screen: really like it. No uneven backlighting.

160gb Hitachi Drive: whisper quiet

Heat: runs cooler than my PB G4. Never heard fans come on even when downloading 40mb file and streaming video.

Build quality: no issues. Everything appears tight
 
On the outskirts of the world

Just got off the phone with my supplier. They told me that Apple still can't give me an ETA and that Australia so far only have seen a couple of machines. According to the Apple person there are more than 1100 on back order. Expect at least two more weeks, she told me.
 
Don't like the look of this..

This is not fair. On the TNT tracker my MBP's status has changed from In Transit to "Exception" - anyone know what this means? My tracking's showing like this:

16 Nov 2006 20:00 Pudong International Airport Potential Connection Delay
16 Nov 2006 17:37 Shanghai Shipped From Originating Depot

Mine just landed in Syndney at about the same time you submitted your post. Now it's just got to make it to Perth - which will probably take longer than the trip from Shanghai!

Shame I am on the other side of the planet from it.

Well, I finally got the dreaded email:

Due to an unexpected delay, we are unable to ship the following

will now ship on or before Dec 04, 2006

MA611LL/A, MBPRO 17/2.33/2G/160/256VRAM/SD-DL-USA
will now ship on or before Dec 04, 2006


Again, this was ordered October 25, edu institution purchase, original ship date was Nov. 16. So, they are either out of power adapters, or putting the education channel purchases way down the list. :(

My TNT tracking says it is still on its way from China, but i phoned TNT and they informed me it is just about to leave Germany!

EDIT: Just phoned TNT again and it is now in the netherlands, I hope I can collected it tomorrow, if not I will have to wait for monday delivery

Thanks for the info, i'll give em a ring and see what the real deal is. :)

I think yours is ahead of mine though so i doubt mine's made it to the Netherlands yet.

I live in the Netherlands but I still have no TNT tracking code. Did you get yours on the Apple Store status page? I also would like to pick it up tomorrow instead of Monday.

Only bummer is that I wanted to change the delivery address and Apple sales said to call after sales when it shipped. But they now say, because it was purchased via the 6 months 0% free with MBNA deal, that they can't change it :( Anyone managed to get it changed with MBNA?

On Order Status it will change to give you an option "Track this order" or something like that (took a few hours for mine to change) - if you click it it should give you the TNT ref, once it's with TNT that is. I don't think apecode works for TNT, use the tracker on the TNT website instead.

I just called them and although according to the website mine is still at the airport in China it's scheduled for delivery on Monday! Don't know if i believe them though...
