Hmm, irritatingly the Apecode site for tracking my shipment isn't giving me any results anymore. Last seen last night the shipment was on a plane from Shanghai but now I have no idea where it. I expect that it's probably in The Netherlands by now but apart from that I don't have a clue. Shame...

Yes I did after almost a month of waiting.

I did the student developer connection and saved a lot on my comp. It came to just shy of 2400. But I ordered on Oct 22 and it arrived on Nov 16 (2 days ago)

I cant be happier! I am sorry for those of you who are waiting... Been there done that.

I don't think Transit delays are Apple's fault, the most frustrating part is their unwillingness to share the true nature of the delays in the first place.

Just looking at your signature, I'm not suprised you busting to get your MBP :)

I'm getting this too so don't worry. I've also found out what it is.........

Kuehne & Nagel (aka K&N on apecode), the people taking the shipment from Shanghai, are updating their tracking website. It's supposed to be up and running at 1700 GMT+1 but I can't get anything as yet.

Just got off the phone with FedEx. They were supposed to deliver Friday, but they lost the package. They'll start looking for it on Monday.

How's The Toshiba 200GB 4200rpm PMR Feel jsd?

I just received my 17 inch, Glossy, 200 GB. It was an EDU order from the 25th. Anyway, it's amazing! The only imperfection I've found is that the left shift key is slightly out of whack. Can that be wiggled back into place somehow? It doesn't interfere with its function, it feels fine. I guess it adds character. One thing I've noticed is that the keyboard is considerably stiffer (which is probably just a function of the age of the machine) than on my old PowerBook, and the keys seem to move farther. I love the two-fingered right click now that I have it turned on. I'm finding two-fingered scrolling to be a little bit painful though. For some reason, it bothers my wrist.
That 200GB 4200rpm Toshiba feel fast enough for you?

Left-side case buzzing

My case definitely has the same buzz coming from the left side as my sister's first-gen CD 1.83 MBP (i.e. goes away when you open Photo Booth). Guess I'll be getting it serviced at some point...

Apple first experience turning out terrible...

Ok i know a bunch of you people are the type where apple could literally do no wrong, so for those people, im not talking to you, there's no point and you won't even try and understand with an unbiased mind...

For the others that care, i was/am a complete apple fan (still) i think they have a great product, great marketing, great everything. But thus far their service has been TERRIBLE. flat out TERRIBLE. i wish it wasn't the case, but it has been. As a side note, the apple store by my house gets nothing but complaints from everyone i know...

Anyways, this is about apple's online ordering system not stores. So i just got off the phone with a customer service lady, and CANCELED my order. It got that bad!! Mind you, Im a first time mac user and they had no problem letting my business go...now the typical apple slave would say, "they don't care, they're growing so fast they dont need your business" or some other lame excuse for why my business wasn't taken seriously, the point is...IT DOESN'T MATTER WHY. That's simply terrible business, not even microsoft shafts people this badly.

ok so what happened? well i ordered my MBP 17 C2D on the 26th at 9AM, and from the beginning things felt weird, my ship date was the 9th-14th with a delivery of the 14th-17th. ok a little late, but understandable.

*note to reader...I hate being one of those customers who yells or talks rudely, in fact I REFUSE to do it. so yes, before you want to accuse me of being rude, realize, i was as nice to the rep as any of you could be...trust me.

Going back to the story, well like everyone else i got the email which said that my order was being pushed back...i called and decided not to ask for anything, like many of you had because i was already getting a great deal on my laptop and frankly, i didnt feel like they were doing anything atrociously wrong. I just called to see if they were really going to ship by my new dates, 15th-17th with a delivery of 17th-21st. I let them know that i felt bad that people had been giving them a hard time and that i wasnt calling to get anything just to confirm things.

So a week rolls by, 17th shows up...No shipment notice yet by 4olcock..i got worried so i called..and the lady ASSURED me that it was being shipped today and that it was waiting to be picked up, sitting wrapped up, ready to go. Now this shipping date was a big deal to me, because im in the process of moving...from Portland to Seattle. Now my orignial ship dates were nice because i had my computer coming to Portland where id pay No Tax...that $223 in savings...so i was getting my comp for the flat price of 2599. with moving though, things became tricky, if it didnt ship the 17th, i wouldnt be in portland anymore to pick it up and would need to change my shipping address...i reallyyyy didnt want to cuz of how much i would save..well when i called on the 17th they didnt let me change it because it was suposedly ready to ship.

I got the email last night. it said, sorry your order has been delayed AGAIN, now shipping he 21st-24th for delivery the 24th-1st (of DECEMBER!!) i was shocked...OVER A MONTH later, and still last minute notifications, lies and no explanations. the email said i had to call just to confirm if i STILL wanted the order to be carried out or i could canel if i wanted. I called, and to be honest i was upset but not pissed by any strecht of the imagination. I merely wanted to call, change my shipping address and get them to upgrade to expididted shipping and give me some sort of a kick back...$100 or something to eat the costs of the newly founded shipping charges...i explained the situation really nicely, all the thank you's and justifications like "i really dont mean to be a headache" and "im sorry for the hassle" but all the mean while explaining that even though i knew it wasnt her fault that i find it a little odd that orders placed AFTER mine have been delivered, and mine was a stock config so NO special things needed. She was like, "let me see what i can do for you" and then comes back and says that she can upgrade to expidited shipping for me (which by now is kinda obvious that it doesn't really make a difference with apple) so i asked if that was really all she could do and that id hate to cancel my order but really with moving it would then just be more cost effective for me to buy one from the apple store since theyll probably have some in sooner then the 1st!! and that way not hassle with shipping risks either. she then said that discounts were a case by case basis (which i found to be really insulting but didnt show it) i asked how my case didnt qualify...im ordering one of your most expensive products, im a first time mac user, you've delayed my order now twice, youre delays have caused me to incur an additional 223 dollar cost to which im not even asking much be covered, and youve kept a customer waiting for a month or more for the product. then she had the brains to tell me that orders were shipped based on availability, so i asked how it worked then that those models made available were not given to the orders that were placed first, and how that was not very fair but i understand how some mixups happen however, that in this case, because it has caused me a lot of hassle and additional cost, that my case dOES qualify for something!!! she said she was sorry, and then i told her to please cancel my order. mind you, her sorry's werent exactly the most sincere.

Ok so maybe she was just a bad rep, and maybe i went too far by canceling my order, im still going to buy a 17 just form a store later or after i file a complaint. but even with the rep i talked to yesterday i was repeatedly lied to. so yeah, frankly im really upset, not just at apple, but they had no sense of understanding that this was a big deal for someone...its not everyday that i drop 2500 on a product and if i do, and they lie to me, and make me wait a month, my case doesn't QUALIFY to get 1/25 or even 1/50 of the price back...its ridiculous.

Now im sure nobody read this entire thing, but yeah, im kinda upset right now considering, ive been waiting for a 2nd Gen MBP since June, and now i have to wait even longer with my ghetto dell which they gave me from work...

Finally got mine. Holy crap I'm impressed. Was hesitant to order and nervous about getting it cause of everything said. No uneven brightness, no grain, absolutely no problems. I'm shocked at how light this thing is and how good the speakers are and how bright the screen is! It's a matte by the way. Glad I didn't go glossy afterall... I couldn't decide for the longest time and it's nice seeing absolutely no reflections. Not hot on any place whatsoever. This rocks. :D

Mine was delivered yesterday morning at 10:30 am but I missed it so decided to drive 40 mins to pick it up at the fedex place rather than wait til Monday. Quite worth it.

Suppose I'll post some pics later!

Good job man, you stood up for yourself and that's what counts. I would do the same if a company, or anyone for that matter shafted me like that. If you're still in Oregon this week you should check the Apple store before you leave, I imagine they'll start getting the stock 17's this week.

Perfect

I've had mine for 2 days. I've been on it almost constantly getting it set up, install Parallels VMs, etc. No issues at all. No dead pixels. No backlight problems. No noises. It's a *very* nice machine. Stock with glossy.

Any 200GB 4200rpm PMR Toshiba HD MB Or MBP Owners PLEASE Report How Fast It Feels

I just received my 17 inch, Glossy, 200 GB.
Please tell us how responsive your 4200rpm Toshiba 200GB PMR feels. What's the net size? 190 or less? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Beat me to it Multi, thanks for asking these types of questions. I too await an answer.

Information seems slow doesn't it?
It's like once they get theirs, forget about telling anyone else the details. We have gotten ZERO reports about the 200GB 4200rpm Toshiba PMR drive - probably the most unknown factor in the entire system and yet none of the recipients have felt the need or desire to share with us how it feels. Amazing!  :(

Hope that helps. I'm also awaiting receipt of a 17" MBP w/ the 200GB drive. I'm not too worried. I'll be glad to have the space.
