One of the biggest selling points with IOS is its security, with a jail break you completely negate that. Not to mention losing your warranty in to the bargain.
warranty isn't a big deal, can always restore the phone to remove the jailbreak, but as mark said you might be compromising security by jailbreaking, wouldn't recommend it either.

With google really starting to crack down and turn their backs on unlocked bootloader's (who can blame them though), starting to swing towards the Apple model and other handset manufacturers bloat loading their devices, I'm still pondering my main line. That tab is a bit expensive however to "just try out" I probably should waltz into a store and have a look.

Current android phones just aren't doing anything for me anymore

Forgot to ask, how is the call blocking spam protection on the iPhone vs the pixels? I've found a lot of calls don't ring, pop up a dialog, "block and report as spam" (or something similar) and on the call log it just says disconnected on my XL 2

I have found call blocking to be infinitely better on the Pixel when compared to the iPhone. I would assume that is something Apple is looking to improve since that problem is becoming worse.

Edit: there is a way in the iPhone settings to send any number not in your contacts directly to voicemail. Unfortunately with my job I cannot afford to do that but it’s a good alternative way around spam calls.

How did my thread get derailed here the last couple of pages?

Please stop posting any Samsung Galaxy stuff, not interested.

Just keep it about [H]ardcore Android users for years, getting a new iPhone for first time in a long while.

It's not a iOS Vs. Stock Android thread either. Let's keep this mature.

Yeah iPhone's implementation is clunky and leaves a lot to be desired. The most effective method they have is to use a third party app to create a filter list, and allow the phone settings to block based on that. Not exactly ideal, but it's the best they've got.

would agree here as a heavy iPhone user that has a personal iPhone (12 pro max) and iPhone SE for work.

Don't have a pixel but their feature to block stuff like this looks very good. even on samsung devices it's pretty decent. Least on pixel I believe it shows you that it's likely a scam call which is good but I normally ignore all calls that I don't know anyway

Yeah the Pixel phones have the best call screening in the business. It will let you send incoming calls to the call screen feature. You can watch as it answers the call for you and displays the message

Google does implement some pretty cool features on thier Pixel phones. Screen Calling is the best.

One thing I would Apple to copy from Android, would be AoD ( Always on Display )

Can you get a ad blocker for the ads on the system apps lol.
What kind of ad blocker do you use to block ads in the system apps on iphone? I've never had to deal with this sort of thing on my Galaxy, so I'm curious how you deal with it.

I saw one rumor saying the AOD was coming to the iPhone 13 this year. I would love to have AOD on an iPhone :)

Thank you for the link, I currently use AdGuard Pro on my 12 Pro Max, I bought the full version years ago,

So in this link, is this something I follow and setup on my iPhone? Or is this for my home gaming computer system and WiFi I do these settings?
Phone stuff aside, just make sure you understand the risks associated with using a third party DNS and what their policy is with how they handle your data and who has access to it. Stuff like that can be a bit risky.

Yikes! I don't know about that one. The idea of sending all my traffic through a third party seems like a big security risk, especially when you're talking about a free service. They tend to be the least secure. That's a bit too extreme and unsecure for me.
Here is their privacy policy: https://adguard.com/en/privacy/dns.html

Privacy Tools DNS Server List also lists AdGuard. They are based in Cyprus, FWIW: https://www.privacytools.io/providers/dns/

It's also encrypted with DoH, DoT and DNSCrypt. Although the DNS service is free, they make their money off paid apps which I've used for years without issue. I'd be more worried about VPN providers that may log all your traffic than an ad-blocking DNS service, but YMMV.

Personally, I find the AdGuard DNS option far preferable to all the intrusive advertising garbage my kids would be subjected to on their iPads etc. System-wide ad blocking on iPadOS/iOS is pretty weak as Apple are so sniffy about allowing those apps. Without ad-blocking, Android is a real cesspit.

The ultra-secure alternative, of course, is to set up a PiHole: https://pi-hole.net/

Clutching at straw now, getting embarrassing ? think someone needs to teach you what a ad looks like.

apple offering you a free service when purchasing a new phone isn't a ad ?‍♂️?

Those aren't free...those are free trials aimed at getting you to get a subscription for PAID SERVICE. Nice try though lol. Now back to my question. What kind of ad blocker do you use to keep that kind of stuff out of your system apps?
