Then again if Apple goes wireless only there is a fairly high chance Android handset manufacturers will mock and likely follow suit ?

//
Seems like almost yearly I go though the phase of researching Apple stuff, this year it's been iPhone as well as M1 mac and once again I haven't been able to go through actually putting the device in my cart and pressing checkout ?

100%. Apple still dictates the market in a lot of ways. When Apple pull these big changes, Samsung sits back, mocks them, and waits to see how much backlash Apple gets. If the backlash is minimal, they join them and make the same move a year later.

Yes and no. Samsung will mimic Apple for some models while they see what the market does over time.
Typical Samsung. People forget how many models Samsung really puts out.

Yeah, I was unaware until Samsung announced it's scheduled release date for OneUI 3.0 on their device lineup. Critics wanna discuss how late OEMs release latest Android devices, but Samsung has plenty of models it has to support. And on top of that, they gotta deal with carriers getting in the way.

One thing that keeps me rubbernecking Apple is something that was mentioned above, they seem to be more about privacy for the end-user. There also seems to be less carrier and vendor junk pre installed on their devices. Security (I know, I'm one to talk about this with my unlocked bootloader's) there seems to be less mentioned of malware in the app store. But I rarely install apps or games. Just a few I typically put on my phone.

Hmmm, I wonder if they will get rid of the notch. Ugh, I can buy a laptop for the price! Surprise, it's not a laptop however, it's a pocket computer.

I do wonder where I could get my foot into an experimental look into Apple stuff. iPads never really did it for me, nor did the iPods (besides the click wheel model). I haven't dismissed it completely but unfortunately it does seem a bit limited what I can do with most Apple stuff. Guess I'll keep thinking ?

Had to go back to stock icons, it's still not the best solution doing custom themes on stock iOS. System apps still show the Shortcuts pop up for a split second, and there's no notification badges on custom icons. So back to stock;

Yup. That’s the reason why I’m not doing custom icons. That notification badge showing up every time I open up an app would annoy me. I’m sure Apple will open custom icons to the AppStore eventually. It took them some time to put widgets on the HomeScreen, more customization will inevitable happen.

Some apps don’t do the shortcuts thing while others do. It’s very inconsistent. Some that work just like stock are Spotify, Safari, YouTube and Gmail while iMessage, Phone, Maps, Camera and many others do the shortcuts screen junk. I don’t know why some work cleanly while others don’t.

Curious how many people actually use the light theme and not the dark theme?

I try the light theme and can’t even last five minutes before my retinas are burned through my skull. The dark theme it’s just so much easier on the eyes and more comfortable.

Unless in the summertime and bright daylight is the white theme better outdoors?

MIine stays on automatic until 16:00-17:00. Do enjoy dark mode though certainly on twitter looks better for Me.

So I've been on this iPhone for 3 months now. I do like it again like I’ve said previously mostly for the hardware the battery life is and saying this is easily a two day phone the screen is very bright and also deep blacks and it’s just been a solid stable phone I’m very satisfied so far.

But one thing I still get don't the hype on is iMessage. Honestly it feels no different than any other text app I used to use an android I really don’t see what’s so great about it? I don’t hate it or anything it works just fine and that’s good but it’s not some extra special super text app I hear people bragging about.

I don't get the big bragging about it also but I think people care about it because there are families that use Apple products only so it's much easier for them to communicate with iMessage rather than downloading third-party apps, setting it up, only to realize the other person needs to have it installed to, etc etc...

It's just the most convenient way for people with iPhone/iPad/iPod to talk to each other, no downloading or setting up needed.

because the blue bubbles are magic lol

for me I like it as it syncs so well with all my devices. certainly my Apple Watch, iPad, Mac. the fact WhatsApp only really works well on my phone is a downside.

Maybe it's because I don't own any other Apple devices? No iWatch I'm not a fan of watches at all. No iPad, don't want a tablet. No iMac as I'm a PC Gamer and build my own high end custom rigs.

And of the people I text, it's probably 60% Android users and 40% iPhone users.

My one brother lives in Europe now, we used to use WhatsApp a ton, we all switched to Telegram now, so actually Telegram app is a big one we use for texting between family now.
