Yeh, I can see that, I like Apple and Samsung products, what I took the ump about was that the original poster I quoted stated that people should know what Apples philosophy was before they buy their product, TBH, I don't give a damn about any company's philosophy, I buy what suits me. I just wanted him to share what Apple's philosophy was.

Agreed - it's nobody's place to dictate what others should buy.

The iPhone is much better in every way possible. It is slick, has a great IPS display and has the best OS and apps.
There is no comparison to be made here.
I don't like Samsung and Android. I cannot use a 5" display. It is ridiculous. I also find cheap plastic bad.
The iPhone integrates perfect with my iPad and MacBook Pro. iCloud is really amazing.

When Samsung and Google achieve that level of perfection and craftsmanship combined with an end to end integration of software, services and hardware, I might consider them.
I don't believe that this can happen in the next hundred years.

I assume you are joking, there's no way anyone would write that and be serious.

I hope you guys don't invest too much into LCD tech. It's about reached it max potential. The most modern HDTV's are moving to OLED which is not to be confused with LED which is similar to LCD.

On televisions OLED is better in nearly every way. We are just waiting for the mobile market to catch up. Once it does you'll see Apple start using the tech.

Pentile? Most people that don't like pentile are basing their opinions on what they've read online. The people that have seen them and hate them are basing their opinion on crappy pentile displays use in the past, more then likely a Motorola handset, which IMO wasnt THAT bad.

Someone could do the same thing with LCD but the technology has been perfected. So me saying "LCD? They suck!" Is just unfounded by today's standards. CRT used to be LIGHT YEARS better then LCD. Who still owns a CRT television?....hardly anyone. Good Will won't even take them! Lol

No he's right! iCloud is sooooo amazing! It has no short comings at all! /sarcasm

Well every time that it's happened - which is only 2 or 3 - everything inside has been fine, as has the casing.

You don't have to look far to find shattered iPhone screens/backs. While it may protect the hardware inside, it sort of wrecks the external in the process.

When have you ever seen aluminum shatter?

What about the so called revolutionary IGZO tech? :p

Only once production cost are to Apples level. By that time other techs will be much better (then they current are) and at a lower cost. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple sticks to ips LCD for a few more generation then takes a giant leap to a new tech like that though.

Samsung phones are packed full of features, thousands upon thousands of features that a lot of people won't use, whereas iPhones are more streamlined and simplistic. Samsung phones are brilliant; I love them, but there are a crapton of features I never even thought about using, like allshare play, a lot of the camera features, motion features like "palm swipe to capture." It can get a bit overwhelming and I'm a tech head, so I can't imagine what it will be like for not-so-techy people.

Some good points. I went from a iPhone 3G to the Droid Charge, back when the Charge was all the rage or at least that's what the ads told me :D, and that phone was loaded with stuff I never used or rarely used. My wife's GSIII is the same way. She is not too tech savvy to begin with so the majority of the GSIII's features are lost on her. I think there is something to be said for all the bloatware that Samsung phones are loaded with too.

In the end I think you have people who buy a phone based on their needs or buy a phone because its the latest and greatest. To each their own.

Killer 1080p display?

Give me a break, it's a freaking ugly PenTile sub-pixel arrangement. It seems that they can't get rid of that issue even if they fixed it with the Super AMOLED Plus in the GS2, it got back to life with the Galaxy Nexus and the GS3.

You have no idea what you're talking about, at the S4's PPI it's impossible to tell the difference between a pentile and a RGB screen with the naked eye.

I was referring more to your comment about LCD being near-death rather than Apple actually moving to IGZO any time soon.

IGZO, from what I've read, is a massive improvement over traditional LCD screens. Really low power and the resolutions it can support are incredible.

Hahaha i think you actually believe this. Tell me, what actual experience do you have of Android?

That last paragraph pretty much hits the nail on the head. I think if a lot of people were honest with themselves they wouldn't use half of the features in their smartphones on a daily basis. Some people just want more and more features even if they're not really going to use them a lot.

I've been there, always wanting the latest and greatest. Still do to an extent. But constantly switching devices for a slightly-improved experience is a waste of money.

If anything, I began to appreciate my iPhone 5 MORE after the disappointing S4 announcement.

Good point, its nice to go retro with old school tech.

iPhone 5 just works, like a good old tube TV. Not fancy, but does job.

Who wants that S4, which is like the 65" Plasma HDTV.

The S4, like all Android phones, lacks sophistication, elegance, and polish. I don't need ANY of those gimmicky gestures, and I do not care for the half assed Android versions of all iOS apps either...

Ten bucks says the gs4 blows the doors off every other cell this year.Samsung is predicting 10 million first 30 days sales!

I prefer my iPhone and iOS to android but some of the post in here are just crazy. There are a lot of features that I'd find very useful even from the S3.

Like flipping the phone face down for silent. On my iPhone I need to menu dive to change it from vibrate to silent. I've been using DnD but that's still not a good solution.

Screen staying on while I'm looking at it. That just makes sense. It always dims when I'm reading articles. I wouldn't be under the impression that it would work in the dark either.

A decent camera app? I like simplicity but editing a photo post picture is not a solution in my eyes nor is that by any means simple.

Only thing Apple is adding is there own version of apps I already have simply because the OS is locked down and certain apps cannot integrate well. Like maps/navigation, looks nice and is very smooth with great integration but is completely featureless. Menu diving to accessibilities to inverse colors through out the OS isn't a solution to night mode. Avoidances? Forget about that!

Do not disturb is a great idea. Now if you could only schedule days you wouldn't need to babysit it.

There is A LOT of things that can be improved in iOS. For the price of an iPhone I expect much more then what's given to me.

its not like the usual pentile, the arrangement is different than before. It should be a great screen. its nothing like the s3s screen. id suggest to find out what you are talking about before you post.

I don't think iPhone 5 is outdated or in trouble, but the rest of android pack is certainly going to suffer thanks to GS4.

All media attention is towards GS4. Good or bad doesn't matter. Attention is attention and samsung will spin it into their marketing some how.

The HTC One and Xperia Z were barely mentioned here in news while the GS4 is on everyone's lips.

And the Z10 is also making big splashes in terms of TV ads, huge newspaper ads, and carrier push as well.

I have a feeling that Apple, Samsung, and may be BB have nothing to worry about in the coming 2-3 years. It is a bad feeling i tell you. Seeing the rest die is not a good thing.

What did you find disappointing? And have you ever owned a flagship Android phone?

Yeah these comments make no sense at all.

bigger screen
better display
much better camera
faster
more features like having widgets in the lock screen

how is that dissapointing? the S3 is a great device so why did samsung need a do over? they are adding to an already better device and making it even better...fact still remains you can remove the battery and still has an SD card slot...

I'm probably jumping ship this year, not due to my iPhone 4S being outdated, rather due to it not working properly. Also, having used iOS devices since 4-5 years back, I have just gotten so bored with them. Moreover, iOS 6 was a complete joke, full of bugs. The 3GS was my best phone ever, but the 4S I cannot wait to get rid of. Ultimately, I would love to see Apple release a new iPhone, with a larger screen and completely revamped OS. However, it won't be happening.

Having said that I'm looking at either the GS4 or Xperia Z. I look forward to trying something new. Either of those 5" displays at Full HD will be quite an improvement from what I have now. :)
