I like options, lots of options!!
Same here, Bob :) I soppose very few of them game, so they don,t need Windows.
Having said all that we will all have to get one of those amazing M1 Mac,s in the future.
The basic Mac Mini will be good enough for my needs.:)

i don't understand you, people. why would you run windows on a mac? i suppose at your home, because, if you step out your house there are 10 PC-s to work on with windows. so, if you wanna run windows, why did you by a mac?

Running macOS and Windows apps together, developers needing to test browsers on different platforms, backwards compatibility with Windows-only apps. There's tons of reason why home and especially developers/professionals would want one computer with two+ OS.

My Mac's are my own and I use them at home and traveling, but for work, I live in a very Windows world.

There are some things that the Mac does batter hands down, and I want those things. I also have to make money, so I need Windows...

It's weird, isn't it?
People get so territorial about "defending everything Apple" for some reason.

I don't get it
So you're saying unless everybody here agrees with the "I want to run Windows on my Mac" crowd then the others are being territorial or defending of Apple? That type of post is not respecting others opinions as you want others to respect yours.

I'm a part time computer science student and I need to be able to compile code which can be run by the markers at school who are using x64 machines with either windows or linux. Aside from school I use Intuit Turbo Tax software for my families annual income tax returns which is only released for the windows OS. Depending on the classes I'm taking at the time I might have VMWare running one or more OS's on my 2020 intel MBP with a quad-core i7 and 32 gigs of RAM.

The M1 air I bought "for my spouse" *cough cough* runs circles around the intel machine - it's crazy how fast it is for a machine that doesn't even have a fan. I'm hoping that by the time I need to replace the intel MBP I won't have so many needs to have x64 Windows running in a VM.

I don't have an M1 (or M1X) yet, but I uninstalled Boot Camp 4 years ago, and I haven't been missing it ever since.

So I won't miss it when I finally get my hands on the upcoming iMac.

Software quality on the Mac has always been superior and cheaper than Windows counterparts, and I prefer gaming on a console on that 65-inch OLED TV.

There's a Mac version of Turbo Tax. Pretty sure that's been available since at least 2014. If you buy the CD instead of digital download, you get access to both PC and Mac versions.

Not true. I do my taxes every year on my MacBook Pro using Turbo Tax Home & Business on Mac. Every version is available on Mac.

No, I wouldn’t miss Windows. I have a MBA M1 and a Lenovo laptop. I prefer to run Windows natively. Looking forward to build a gaming pc this late spring or early summer with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600x or a Ryzen 7 5800x with Nvidia GeForce 3070 GPU.

For the price of one Macbook Pro 16 one could buy a $1000 Air and 8 core AMD/2060 Win laptop or build a PC. In total you will get your Mac and Windows by spending less than for 1 Macbook pro 16.

I don't understand the purpose (other than using VM's for business purposes as another member mentioned) because over the many years the common argument people made against Macs is, "I can get a Windows PC with better specs for less money". There's no good reason for Apple to continue designing Macs with Bootcamp when there are plenty of Windows machines on the market.
ya. but the difference still there no matter how a powerful Mac Apple makes it.. "No one wants to buy a Windows machine as well, just to run a few windows apps (even if gaming needs better performance)"

The obvious choice was there previously, its not there now, (....because Apple killed it., if we wanna stay on the straight & narrow..

No surprise for me, the same names like in various recent discussions about the upcoming Macbook rumors. Everything involving some more variety, flexibility and real-world usability for most users is bad in their eyes. Because Apple can never be at fault.

Yes, I would kinda miss the additional option to also run Windows on my machine, may it be for some round of occasional/causal gaming (not even current AAA) but even more important, running some programs like Blender there, which actually work better on Bootcamp than MacOS itself e.g. because Apple daydreamed about the whole industry shifting to Metal-only, rather than staying with the given standards OpenGL/CUDA/Vulcan, so GPU-rendering is not working anymore. Very 'Pro' indeed. And so much for the 'if you're solely running Windows on a Mac buy a PC' argument.

The M1 itself is badass, but I won't follow the hype because no keen on further vendor lock-in, so I gonna wait and observe things developing.

To many people need Windows (especially in Lockdowns causing home working) because many business are still 100 percent Windows centric and uses only Microsoft meetings to be safe!
i agree. but my question would be, why would you use macOs for this?

When at home over the years I would be a Mac user at home and networked Windows user at work! That government work was 100 Dell and Windows with CISCO! I spent my whole carrier managing Cisco Catalysts and routers and satellite equipment! Many of the other techs were doing the same because Sun used to be in shops and we all had Unix training from past! The OS X was almost pure BSD Unix in 0 years and we were all fat and happy as Uber nerds!

This is Windows 10 ARM64 running in Parallels 16.3.1 Tech Preview. I don't miss Win10 but why the heck not. atm I have exactly one app that I use regularly which is Windows only, Mikrotik's Winbox, and perhaps a few other shadier ones that shall remain unnamed. tbh Winbox runs in Crossover too so I didn't really have to install Win10 for it.

While I'm mostly Mac-centric, I have Windows PCs and laptops too.

Why carry around two machines (plus extra expense)? And not so much with bootcamp but when using Parallels you don't have to fiddle with cables and hubs when you need to copy from one OS to the other. With Parallels you just drag and drop.
