Aah okay I got you now... Still, I personally think Apple made a mistake releasing the iPhone 8 this year. Reckon they playing it safe, if the X somehow doesn't live up to expectation

So basically you are paying a $1000 for iOS? Why not then just buy an Android device that looks like the X and pay half
Because it doesn't run IOS and work with the products most people have. I'm tempted by the note 8 everyday and said it's maybe the best phone out but the X is the kind of build and features is the perfect combo. It will be expensive and hard to get but this is the market we have now and paying stupid money for phones will be become the norm

for me

iphone
apple watch
ipad pro
apple TV
Airpods

just got too much apple products that work perfectly to switch as tempted as I have been to get it

I think they released the 8 because of supply contrsaints with the X. Personally if the X isn't available I am getting the N8 anyway. The N8 is cheap enough that I can keep my 7 Plus as well. I cant wait till 2018 for Apple to ship a product to me as the leaks regarding the next iPhone start by then.

I don't get it though.. Why hype up the X, only to have supply constraints. I reckon something is not working as it should on the X, and they delaying the stock for a while.

The other bit is, that I think Apple will want to see the i8 and i8 plus selling early on, but again, I reckon something is not right with the X, as they would have wanted a release now to match the hype.

They also would have left a massive void in their sales figures if they hadn't released an iPhone at the usual price point. Supply constraints are only one problem. Even if they didn't have any issues with manufacture, a £1k phone isn't going to satisfy the market.

Don't really think Apple thought of it that way. Just read that Tim Cook actually called the iPhone X a value buy.Thats right $1000 phone is a value buy.

1K is now starting to be the standard price in flagship smartphones

https://www.theverge.com/2017/9/20/16338022/iphone-x-google-pixel-2-price-change

Google,Apple and Samsung are all flirting with the 1k price range. With One Plus and Huawei also increasing prices its going to be the standard. I don't like it but it is what it is.

Man, some of the cheaper Chinese oems like Xiaomi could really really clean up if they got their products here. This just seems like such a golden opportunity for them, I'm really surprised they aren't jumping for it this holiday season.

To clean up they need to be in carrier stores. Since to get on sprint or cdma they would need to pay a Qualcomm tax I think that is a deterrent and hindrance.

So that leaves att and T-Mobile or any of the smaller mvnos. Quite an uphill battle.

If that really is the expectation then the days of single smartphones selling 80+ units are a thing of the past. They may see profits remain the same but with less sales due to cost.

It's economically impossible for everybody who currently owns a flagship phone to afford £1k devices. That is indisputably factual and I hope Apples marketing publication The Verge are wrong here.

Yeah that's true, although they could also try stores like best buy and Walmart for example. Think about the potential marketing budget they could have by raising their prices. Heck Xiaomi could raise the price of the Mi Mix 2 from roughly $500 (3299 yuan) to $749 easily. That's an extra $249 per phone to pay for the increased shipping, logistics, licensing, customer support and marketing, and additional profit. At $749 the mi mix arguably blows away the iPhone X, or at the very least is in the same flagship category easily.

Anyhow just thoughts, someone is going to fit into that slot. Sure Apple and Samsung, and others have their own mid range flagships, but now you are downgrading significantly for the same price.

You’re absolutely right, but I do not think xiaomi could raise prices unless they were in carrier stores. Then they could raise prices as they have the carriers backing and support.

Unless they can in all stores around the world i don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.

Hell the pixel here wasn’t even on every carrier

Reports of another production delay for the iPhone X. Not good.

I mean, Apple will be fine, but for the customers that are waiting and wanting the iPhone X? Apple is not only late to the party, but their customers are going to have a very frustrating launch.

Uptick in iPhone 8 orders?

I think it all depends how long the wait is. If generally people are looking at end of nov/dec i think people will wait but anything into 2018 then i can see more ordering the 8 or 8 plus or even move to the note 8. I still think stock wise it won't be as bad as expected and some will get theirs in decent time as you have to think carriers will at least get some for launch day

Not going to give up the first two so kinda need the third one..

Not spending all that money on the X though without thoroughly testing the iPhone X, and the Note 8 is already being discounted hmmpphh..

One of Apple's biggest advantages is the ecosystem. Another advantage is standardization of features. For example, in order to have lock screen widgets like on IOS I have to get a new lock screen.(For the S8)

I would be all for this when I was 19, but now I simply dont have time to tinker and play around with my phone..

Marriage and Kids will do that to you lol.

No time to test it as if you don't get it on preorder day you are looking at Jan delivery at the earliest.

I actually like tinkering. The problem is on Android there is no competent tablet or watch to tinker with. So I will have to use a Note 8 with an iPad and watch and I don't know how that will turn out.

Basically no competition for Apple in the tablet space. OEMs have all but given up.

Don't know why people would deliberately mix and match android and ios

Yes, they can co-exist but its a bit daft imho.

Surface is the only option but the newer one is just tremendously expensive and the display is just not as good as an iPad at that price.

i am quite excited to see

Exactly. I don't blink an eye when I switch from an iPad to iPhone but when I will pair it with a Note 8 I think the experience may feel disjointed or jarring. If I get an Android this year I may not trade in my 7 Plus. I want my hook in the iOS ecosystem.

Cant stand surfaces, it has no identity. Is it a tablet? a Laptop? Having both just seems like a clusterf*ck.

I much rather pay more and get a nice Macbook.
