Don't mind the icon, hate the horrible circular numbered keypad in the app itself.
Same here. What the heck, Apple?
Contacts icon has gotten ugly, too.

Forget about looks, the actual calculator is broken. Its slow to respond to inputs, cant even use it reliably.Boy is the new Calculator icon ugly in iOS 11.
How about Passbook being white now.. why???How about the phone dialer? It was a nice dark theme in iOS10, but now it's my favorite, blinding white on off white. To add insult to injury when you dial a call you get the dark dialer back! WTF kind of style continuity is that?

I’m quite enjoying iOS 11’s features on the whole, but the reduced battery life and lag is frustrating. My wife runs a graphics and marketing company and she can’t believe some of the design details Apple have used either. It certainly feels like a step backwards in terms of aesthetics in some places.
3dt on the edge is coming back according to Apple.Agree. Some of these fonts, layouts, and animations... Definitely some questionable (and inconsistent) design elements. Isn't Jony Ive in charge of iOS now, too? What is happening at Apple?
And yes, as I'm using it, I'm seeing noticeable lag around the OS, too.
[doublepost=1506975468][/doublepost]I noticed in iOS 11 they removed the Force Touch on the edge of the phone to "quickly" switch between apps? I think it's a pretty cumbersome feature to begin with and rather actually switch with the double-tap home button and select than this, but anyone else notice it's gone?
I much prefer the simple double-tap of the App Switcher button on Android that immediately takes you to your previous app. It's like "alt-tab" for Android. There doesn't seem to be a method for iOS to achieve the same speedy switch between two apps. Or am I mistaken?
I agree with virtually all of his comments. As I said in another thread, I think the 8 Plus is going to be one of the most slept on smart phones of the year. Each day that passes this thing is making an argument for me to forgo the X.
I made the argument pretty early on that the iPhone 8 will be a more significant upgrade than most people think. Sure, the front design is criminally outdated (a crime only Apple gets away with) but the improvements to the camera that were desperately needed (more saturation, who would've figured!), the improved back design, and the implementation of features like fast charging and wireless charging brings the 8 far closer to the competition than ever before.
The 8 is basically the old generation iPhone perfected.
I don't know how outdated it is. Part of the reason I'm enjoying it so much is because I am not a huge fan of the new aspect ratios on the Galaxy phones, for instance. My Note 8 is probably my fav phone of the year but over the last week or so that I've had the 8 Plus, I tend to prefer consuming media content on the iPhone. The speakers probably play a role in that but still.
I guess I mean by industry standards. Heck, even by Apple's own standards. The iPhone X puts the 8 in an awkward tier -- it's no longer the premier flagship. The 8 is really what the 7 should've been.
However, I can completely understand those who want to keep Touch ID and those who enjoy the stereo speakers (something that Samsung hardware needs to implement themselves). I suspect wireless charging is going to be a big factor, too, in people enjoying their 8's.

I've said it before, I honestly believe these design guys have to continually recreate design just to justify their jobs, or to seek promotions. The more years go by the less they can do that hasn't already been done. I feel like we are reaching that point where design is just becoming disjointed and doesn't make sense in a lot of ways.
I'm also seeing a lot of lag on my iPhone, but I've seen it for the past 1-2 years so it isn't anything new to me. All that talk of how superior the SOC is and how iOS runs so well because it's so streamlined for the hardware, but my iPhone still lags just like a Samsung phone of 5 years ago.

Wow. Lag isn’t something I’m seeing at all. Mine is crazy fast and smooth.
I am sure he is surprised when he wears an Apple watch in all his videos. He is Apple biased.

Sure it does.
My 7 plus lagged.

Seriously? In your blind support of your new Note 8 and subsequent incessant bashing of all things iPhone, you’ve become exactly as bad as those you’re so critical of who make any comment in support of an iPhone.
Wearing the smart watch specifically made to work with the phone you’re reviewing. Shocking!!
Proof that you have no idea what you’re talking about—Tell me what watch he’s wearing in his any of his other videos over that last couple weeks, including 4 other videos specifically dedicated to iPhone. Need a hint? I can tell you which watch it isn’t.
I bet that gets moved back to display in some future update. It really doesn't make sense moving it to accessibility.
No sir just facts. I've been watching him for years. And he most of the time wears an apple watch. On rare occasion he will wear an android watch of some type. But again most of the time it's the apple watch. Watch his videos. Last 3 videos 2 were apple and one had a silver possible LG. So you going to blame everyone here on this site that got the note 8 the same who also saw the difference? I see more bashing from Apple people than the other way around. I'm just defending the nonsense like yourself.Seriously? It so weird: I'm thoroughly enjoying both the Note and the 8 without needing anyone to like or dislike either in order for me to enjoy it.
Yeah. And I can rant about both because I'm never happy and they both disappoint me. But they're both still usable and good and we need to stop pretending this is some sports game.
That's correct. I'm not treating either platform like it's a home team I'm rooting for.
No, no, I know you're not. You're reasonable. I'm just lamenting MacRumors.
