According to reviews and user comments, the iPhone X would be interesting to try out. However, I just recently got an S8+ and it hasn't given me any major problems. It would be hard to justify spending almost twice as much on the X and give up split screen (it's actually surprisingly useful on a 6,2" screen) for it.
I have looked at notch.
The iPhone x is wider has no lip, and the bezel is flanked on either side with more display screen.
.5 inch diagonally isn’t the same as .5 inch measured Vertically or horizontally.
You can plainly see which has the larger display.

I told you your image is NOT actual phone side by side. Go find a correct one first otherwise you just talking fluff.

Good grief, both barely kept the app's open, I got annoy d watching this so I didn't finishing watching. Urrgh. $1000 smartphones multitasking like we are back in 2010.
You are missing the point I made, which I think started this whole back and forth. Apple should not include the ears in their diagonal measurement of screen size if you/they want to say its "extra" space. Otherwise its "removed", not "added". Its pretty simple.
But it doesn't matter. The relative difference in size between them is negligible, looking at the scaled picture of the two side by side. If you like the notch and in your mind it gives you extra space, then that's great ... the X is a great device. If the notch bugs you and you don't like it, then get an 8, 8+, or S8. The good news is that they are all awesome smartphones. Choice is a wonderful thing. It would be pretty boring if they all looked exactly the same.

Your whole argument falls apart when you take into account that it is a 5.85 inch screen with the notch and ears not 5.8 like you have been dithering on about endlessly.

The bottom part of your image shows s8 is longer. Plus don't forget the S8 screen is 2mm wider as well. So overall area still bigger

The 5.8 or 5.85 is still misleading....you can't use the extra display....apps can't use it either...

Nope. 19.5:9 is wider than 18.5:9.

5.85 isn’t a rounding error, it’s the size of the display with notch and ears according to Apple.

Yep. So in effect iPhone is a just 5.5 inch 18.5:9 display after taking out the ears.
yep...with today's phones and aspect ratios.....display size measured diagonally doesn't really apply anymore. It is display area or display space is more accurate.
Doesn't stop Apple from advertising it as a larger display,
Or 100000000000000000000-1 contrast ratios,
Or "Its all Screen!"
Or "The toughest glass in a phone ever, ever"
Or other such misleading bollox.

Im pretty sure Apple has said plenty of times how strong their screens are, only for it to crack at the slightest knock.

Look I can somewhat understand the people who camped outside for the very 1st iPhone, even then I would never do that, but I mean at this point, geez, time to let it go
I think if the tables were turned, and the notch existed on another OEM's $1000 flagship device, the notch would be ridiculed to no end.
I love the X's screen and think the more immersive, bezel-less experience makes everything much more enjoyable. However, I dislike the notch and prefer the symmetry of the S8, not just for aesthetics, but for practical purposes. For example, there is no more battery percentage in the status area of the X.
