This is why I can't use iOS as my primary...
I could live with using iTunes even though I much prefer file manager.
I could live with Dasher and SwiftKey being INFERIOR on iOS.
I could live with the toggles and lockscreen messages being separated even though that does get annoying and isn't intuitive.
But taking too long for my other devices to connect to an iPhone Wi-Fi hotspot and losing connection after awhile is a red flag. Any phone with the sim has to be my pocket Wi-Fi since I don't have internet at home.
Had tethering been so much easier and more battery efficient on iOS, I probably would have my sim on my SE or even on The X right now. Alas, major drawback for me. And I really did want to get The X and skipped the 7 for it.
Now if I get the X, it would need to be sim-less and look like a $1000 iPod touch when my SE which I got for only $200 last May can do that for me already and it's much smaller to act like an iPod. What's the point getting an X if I won't use a sim for it?
I have a limited selection to choose from as a primary and it's with Android. If iOS' Achilles heel is tethering for me, not having microSD and inability to be recognized on Mac using Android File Transfer is the Pixel's. And it's the only top flagship that isn't all-glass on the rear. Love the panda.
So the next in line would be Samsungs and LGs that still kept the headphone jack and have microSD slot. They also both get recognized by Android File Transfer. The problem is bloatware if you want to get it from carriers via installments.
Carriers toss in so many freebies or BOGO deals to entice you to add another line you don't need. Leeches. Unlocked is the way to go. Note8 is just too tall and LG lost some of their practical advantages by selling out to hipsters this year. IR blaster is very important to me.
I'm cool with 2016 phones that are all unlocked...
LG G5 (Phone), left holster
Apple iPhone SE (Browser), right
LG V20 (Media/Browser), home
Motorola Moto E (GPS), car
^ If I got a V30 or iPhone X, it wouldn't really improve my experience. Just throwing away more money for phones I don't need. Hate glass rears anyway.
I even checked out Essential and KeyOne only to think neither feel 100% right for me. I type slower on physical QWERTY and Essential is a fingerprint magnet with ceramic. I love its size though.
Sometimes the best for me are the ones I already have.
