No it's not okay, contrary to the hyperbole contained therein. If in fact any of these rumors are true.

There is always to 7s.

The 7S is just a 7 with an upgraded processor. There is no point upgradig to a 7S from the 7. The 8 is the real deal. Although personally I don't care if they put it on the back. I want those gigantic bezels gone. They are an eye sore in front of the S8. The iris scanner will be there for handsfree use anyway

Let's not stop there. he..he. More foot in the mouth examples from a bit further back.

"We don't need folder...
"We don't need pull-down notification...
"We don't need background multi-tasking...
"We don't need widget..."
"We don't need big screen..."

I remember Apple officially mocking the Surface. You cant converge a toaster and refrigerator they said. It wont be a good experience they said. And 2 years later come out with an exact copy of the form factor.

If this would be the real new iPhone 8, I wonder how all the Apple/iPhone die hards, who were mocking Samsung's new flagship (S8/S8+) with the fingerprint scanner on the back, will respond.

I guess if Apple will place the fingerprint scanner on the back, all of the sudden it will be just fine once they get their new toy in their hands ;)
Cause you know...it's Apple, right!?

Just a FYI android fans have also made comments about the touch sensor being on the back and its not the fact that its on the back because android phones have had this for years, its the LOCATION that people are complaining about. The touch ID in the S8+ is very hard to reach, I would think the S8 is fine.

You are right. I sometimes dont like the rear fingerprint scanner on the back of my S8 as wel (but the Iris scanner is working out amazing for me!! :) )l. But I was making another point in this particular case about the real loyal Apple fanbase.
See my post #899 in this topic.

Yeah I don't really know anyone thats the Ultimate Apple Fanboy or UAF. I guess they are out there. Most of the people I know that have iPhones don't really care all that much about the phone, they just like it but they don't brag and stuff. They also have no idea that some android phones have touch ID let alone the location of it on those phones.

The problem with the fingerprint scanner on the S8 isn't that it's on the back but where on the back they put it.

I think the criticism was more about the FP scanner awkward location next to camera than being on the back.

Pixel and other phones have the FP scanner in the middle which is easier to access.
That was part of it for sure. But on all the Apple forums I have been on most Apple fans deride having the FPS on the back in the first place. Especially when taking about the Pixel...saying how difficult it makes unlocking a phone when lying on a flat surface.

It is true if the FPS is on the back you have to pick up the phone, life is hard. Personally I would deal with it if they could make the iPhone smaller with the same or larger screen. It would also be nice if the iPhone could shed a few grams.. things a brick.

It's funny because I don't even notice it....I just adapt to each phone I use.

You see the difference between Apple and other manufacturers is not necessarily coming up with a brand new technology. They just implement it so well that things work together and without any hassles to the users. Finger print sensors were there before Apple but they made it work so well and integrated with the services they offer that it all makes sense.

Putting **** in is not the goal here. Making them work properly in the consumer market is.

One could argue apple would not have anything work well without other companies first releasing the technology.

EDIT: Apple is kind of like Floyd Mayweather, only throws the punches when the time is right.

Even the Pixel XL felt light when i tried it compared tot he 7 Plus.

Personally I don't think thickness is as much of a factor as weight, apparently Apple doesn't care about weight. Its like a brick vs styrofoam.

First thing I noticed is the screen and how old and dull my 7+ display looks.

I thought that but when you first lift the phone out of the box the screen isn't on. The screen is definitely the next thing I notice. One thing in Apple defense it the color gamut of the iPhone is very nice the colors are true, but the S8 display will blow your retinas away. Its impressive.

Apple agrees with you, get ready for "apple engineers created a true black display that saves battery life"
I hope so...I am ready for a truly amazing iPhone 8! Can't wait for this fall for the Pixel 2 XL and Note 8 and iPhone 8!

Can you just imagine the inevitable Jony Ive video at the keynote on the OLED display? The dictionary will fall short of the descriptors Apple will use to describe it.

The word "incredible" seems to come to mind. I would agree Apple needs to town down the idea that some things like AMOLED are new. Yes they are new to the iPhone but not to the industry. I give it to Apple the always leave room to make the iPhone better. Samsung has definitely made it a little harder on themselves.

That's okay. It's my decision on what's useful to me or not.

Maybe not for you.
But if you knew a little bit more about the real iPhone/Apple fans, and then I mean the REAL true iPhone fans, you should you know as soon as Apple comes with a rear fingerprint scan, it will be just amazing (Tim Cook's most used word in ANY Keynote).
For these people, EVERYTHING Apple comes with is just simply amazing, no question about it. Heck, they even order products they not even touched or used.

And thats just fine, Apple has these people ''by the balls'', but these same people tend to deny that ;)
A fine example is, the well known Apple eco-system, for some reason people think it is hardly impossible to leave this Apple eco system.
So because of this, at ALL TIMES its Apple who decides which smartphone/tablet/notebook a customer will buy, the iPhone/iPad/Mac user decides to give FULL controll of their wallet to a company like Apple.

The absolute power Apple has over its consumers is very underestimated (thats also why Apple has hardly any limits with the $$$ they charge for their devices)

But again,this same consumer: deny.....deny....deny....deny ;)
Apple sold how many iPhone 7's. Tens of tens of millions maybe. What are you basing your generalizations on? You cannot claim to know how the masses are. You can however point to specific posts here on MR. Is that what you refer to as a "real fan". Everything that Apple puts out is magician and amazing. Maybe that's why they make 70% of the industy profits? Regardless of your feelings about Apple they have a customer base that buys their products en Masse. But most of your postnus based on generalizations of hyperbole.

My sincere apologies for making generalisations.
I was not aware of the fact that only YOU are the one who is allowed continuelisy making generalisations in posts and topics (yes, I have just read about 15-20 of them).
