I'm starting to see more Samsungs around the D.C. Metro area. It's harder to spot the other types of Android phones if they are in cases. I do see a lot of Samsung watches and some Android Wear, now that I know how to identify them. It's tricky because they often look like regular watches. But Apple Watches are gaining traction, too.
I kept looking for the 3 sensors on the back (camera, heart rate, fingerprint) to distinguishing the S8 from the older models. I've seen quite a lot of gear watches around.

Is this the most accurate iphone 8 picture yet?

I like that look for the most part, but the camera looks weird because I'm so used to the dual lens configuration being horizontal now that I've had an iPhone 7 Plus for a few months. Anyway if the phone really does end up looking like that I will not complain. I would even be tempted, except for the feeling of burn when I realized my IPhone 6 Plus should have had 2 Gigs of RAM. And should not have been so bendable. After that experience of one year of dissatisfaction with the overall experience, I decided I'd try to avoid future iterations of entirely new iPhone designs that have not been tried and tested among real consumers.

You guys should come down here to Johannesburg, South Africa, lol, I see a huge variety of phones daily, we are predominantly Samsung, but there is a lot of iPhone to as well as a lot of Huawei, quite a bit of LG and I still see some Blackberry, it's usually a Z10 when I see BB though.

When I am in Cape Town depending on which area then I see a lot more iPhone, especially in the more touristy areas of Cape Tiwn, but I also continue to see a large number of Samsung, and a mix of both in the more "hipster" parts of the city.

Can't put a price on a rumor. Maybe based on the rumors, stay with tried and true LCD and get rid of oled, a feature I can live without.
If they get rid of OLED people wont upgrade as that's the primary reason for iPhone super cycle. If there is no OLED theres no way I pay 1K for it

Days of LCD are over.
Days of floppies and DVDs and HDDs are over
Adapt or get left in the dust

OṬ: Apple better watch out if Project Treble is a success. Android will quite literally match iOS in updates and may even surpass it

I see iPhones around, but also lots of different Android phones. A few years ago there were quite many iPhones in my beer league hockey team's locker room, but nowadays most of them have been replaced by different Androids. I think that's at least partly due to the ever-increasing European prices. iPhones also have a reputation as crappy winter phones since their batteries don't handle cold weather too well once the battery ages a bit. I haven't had a problem with relatively fresh iPhones even when it's almost -20 C, but back in the day when my iPhone 5 was around two years old, it could shut down from 50% of battery when it was cold outside. Replacing the battery helped with that.

You keep saying OLED is the only reason people will upgrade but it isn't a fact. It might be the case for a certain element for sure. People upgrade when their contract runs out and they may or may not go for the 'latest iPhone'. I've encountered quite a lot of people who haven't got a clue what OLED is. Not everybody is a tech geek, in fact most people aren't and I feel confident saying that.

Obviously hyperbole as you cannot possibly know of the reasons people upgrade. I'm one of the "I'll take LCD over oled" anyday crowd and I'll upgrade for features that make my workflow more efficient. Time is money after all. By adapt you mean which company is making any money without any oled offerings?

Project treble will not affect those who like ios over android and Apple is not worried. Apple doesn't need a project to deliver timely updates.

I really hope the 7S models get wireless charging at least. And maybe those bigger screens (less bezels) that were in those CAD leaks.

It's surprising how many different androids I see too. Even ones like nexus and pixel devices.

I wonder how the s8's battery would fare in cold weather. It's suppose to retain 95% effectiveness even after a year.

The point is, Apple wants OLED. 'Nuff said.

And until they can get OLED across their entire lineup, LCD will serve just fine for the two lower tier flagships, the 7S and 7S Plus.

Many won't appreciate these features until Apple does them. That's just going to be a fact with certain people. Nothing wrong with it; they have their reasons and preferences.

So for example, some people won't learn to appreciate wireless charging until Apple does it. Some won't learn to appreciate customization until Apple does it. And likewise, some won't learn to appreciate OLED -- and while we're here, a more full screen, immersive design -- until Apple does it.

Oh well.

Don't waste too much of your energy on these people. It's their choice. Either way, Apple knows what they want. Like I said earlier, 'nuff said.

My newest phones I was sad to see at first that they lacked wireless charging, which it seemed Samsung S7 finally was a nice feature. The S6 was more promise than delivery, and the BB PRIV was a lost cause.

Came to find out though that super fast charging - maybe linked to USB-C, but Apple thinks it can do with Lightning to not need USB-C for now - my devices charge so fast, and also last longer - I don't need wireless charging.

Huawei has massive battery, and an hour SoT only drains it 5%. From 40% to 100% - haven't timed it but in under an hour and more like 30 minutes to be back at 90%+.

Fast charging is definitely a great feature to have, too. It's saved me a few times.

I like wireless charging, too, because it's always topping off my battery whenever I set my phone down.

It's common knowledge this particular iPhone is going to be unlike the recent releases and going to be a huge record breaker and the ASP is taking a massive jump. The only huge feature on this phone is curved edge bezel less OLED. What else is there? A slightly tweaked camera, wireless charging and possibly an iris scanner but the bulk of that upgrade is OLED so people do want it if it's going to break records as analysts state

You are out of luck then as I give LCD max 2019 before it's dropped. Apple doesn't like keeping dual screen technologies around as it creates redundancies and it won't be long before all iPads and iPhones are using this technology. Even the 10.5 iPad is going OLED this year which is on my Day 1 buy list

Project treble will not affect those who like ios over android and Apple is not worried. Apple doesn't need a project to deliver timely updates.
They should because quite a lot of iOS users prefer Android to iOS but don't migrate because of lack of "updates". If Project Treble works there will be an exodus of such people

It's high time Apple went back to having the best screens as they used to pre 2011

Staying with IOS, but I have to say Siri is worse than I thought right now.. i just tested it right now and it cant even find the movie theater around me... The ones it finds are farther and Siri even tells me its in a different state when its not.
I downloaded google assistant and its better and I like that i can type questions as well.

I will say that apple maps has some nice stuff over google maps now. One example is that maps told me the road was closed and even gave me a reason for the closure (local marathon).

It might be common knowledge in certain circles but I doubt the average joe on the street reads rumours about the next iPhone. I only know because I participate here and look at technology sites. My wife wouldn't have a clue, neither would the bulk of my friends or family. It'll likely be learned by most at the time of launch and those who upgrade to the next iPhone will enjoy whatever it has to offer.

You assume everybody is buzzing for the next iPhone based on features and that's not something I have ever experienced. A fraction, sure. The majority, I doubt.

Project treble my .... I've been hearing about how Google will streamline and make updates much faster for years now, well I'm still waiting upwards of 8 months to get an OS update. Samsung, for example, easily has the manpower and capital to have their updates come out very quickly, so do the US carriers who also take their sweet time. Do they rush them out? Hell no, my suspicion is because once you spent money on the hardware you are not as valued anymore and software updates are something they probably look at as more work for them for no profit.

The only solution is for Google to grow a set and make some kind of rules to force oems/carriers to update in a timely and predictable fashion. Of course their hands may be tied due to the open source nature of Android, but they can always withhold their core apps and the play store. But short of that, I highly doubt Treble will make any kind of difference in release schedule.

That picture actually makes me kind of sad. I'd MUCH rather they fit in the bezel-less screen into the 7+ body, I'll bet they could get 6" or more. While I will enjoy the smaller bezels on the 8, I will also feel like I'm downgrading in screen size when I should be upgrading. Oh well, I'm sure for 2018 there will be an iPhone 8 plus.

Exactly. Most people I know don't care about the innards, or the screen. (yes, it's a generalization but using my 40 person extended family as a source has given me some insight). They care about how can the phone benefit their daily use. The ones that follow this are the ones that are into it.

If this would be the real new iPhone 8, I wonder how all the Apple/iPhone die hards, who were mocking Samsung's new flagship (S8/S8+) with the fingerprint scanner on the back, will respond.

I guess if Apple will place the fingerprint scanner on the back, all of the sudden it will be just fine once they get their new toy in their hands ;)
Cause you know...it's Apple, right!?

Exactly how it will go.....same when they added what most Apple fans have said were useless features like waterproofing......and supposedly wireless charging. All of a sudden it will be look...... Apple invented wireless charging and how useful it is....

Maybe not for you.
But if you knew a little bit more about the real iPhone/Apple fans, and then I mean the REAL true iPhone fans, you should you know as soon as Apple comes with a rear fingerprint scan, it will be just amazing (Tim Cook's most used word in ANY Keynote).
For these people, EVERYTHING Apple comes with is just simply amazing, no question about it. Heck, they even order products they not even touched or used.

And thats just fine, Apple has these people ''by the balls'', but these same people tend to deny that ;)
A fine example is, the well known Apple eco-system, for some reason people think it is hardly impossible to leave this Apple eco system.
So because of this, at ALL TIMES its Apple who decides which smartphone/tablet/notebook a customer will buy, the iPhone/iPad/Mac user decides to give FULL controll of their wallet to a company like Apple.

The absolute power Apple has over its consumers is very underestimated (thats also why Apple has hardly any limits with the $$$ they charge for their devices)

But again,this same consumer: deny.....deny....deny....deny ;)

I think the criticism was more about the FP scanner awkward location next to camera than being on the back.

Pixel and other phones have the FP scanner in the middle which is easier to access.
