My apologies for making generalisations. I was not aware of the fact that only YOU are the one who is allowed continuelisy making generalisations in most of your posts (yes, I have just read about 15-20 of them)
Please feel free to show where I make
Mockingly derisive statements about some mythical group of people, in which these statements have no relationship to the topic on hand. Feel free to carry on as appropriate.

Can you just imagine the inevitable Jony Ive video at the keynote on the OLED display? The dictionary will fall short of the descriptors Apple will use to describe it.
Can a rumor be described as "magical"?

Apple sold how many iPhone 7's. Tens of tens of millions maybe. What are you basing your generalizations on? You cannot claim to know how the masses are. You can however point to specific posts here on MR. Is that what you refer to as a "real fan". Everything that Apple puts out is magician and amazing. Maybe that's why they make 70% of the industy profits? Regardless of your feelings about Apple they have a customer base that buys their products en Masse. But most of your postnus based on generalizations of hyperbole.
so sales makes a product the best product? so you could say Apple is the McDonald's of the smartphone space then.

Sales and profits have nothing to do with what was said....it's a deflection
Apple fans always throw sales and profits around when they have noting else to fall back on in a discussion.

Everything that Apple puts out is magician and amazing.

Its should not be considered even a rumor at this point. A stock price crash is the result if Apple doesnt show an OLED iPhone at the Keynote.

We know its got an OLED display
We know its got an iris scanner
We know its got a glass back and no bezels

The only question which remains unanswered is TouchID on the back or front.

So I just eliminated the pictures, but IMO, the pencil charging in the port is an ingenious solution.

However, to your point, best is a personal statement and to the people who buy the product it is best for them. I never claim that apple products are an objective best only a subjective best. Sales and profits have everything to do with what is being said, because if apple were that far off-track they would be in a totally different financial space and thus the company can't be as some people describe here.

That doesnt mean anything. Sales dont imply a product is the best in every aspect.

Which is why sales have slightly declined and the next quarter is another decline. There hasnt been a decline for 10 years till 2015-16 which means something is amiss

more hyperbole......
Sales do not mean the product is best.......
If those products i listed above are as you say

Then this is so true....for those buyers....

The Note 7 exploded and even then Samsung is still the top dog on Android and garners the majority profits on Android. The momentum factor continues for the winners from a decade ago who made the right choices. Nothing short of a complete disaster will faze Apple but that doesnt mean every strategy they follow is good. The thing is they are at this point too big to lose

As these leaks are coming out its looking like it will be on the back.

But maybe Apple will surprise.

Apple fans buy iPhones because its what they like and what they are used too, not because its the best phone in the world. When I say "best" I mean it doesn't have the most CPU cores, the most RAM, or even the best display in the industry. The iPhone doesn't have to have all those things to sell, it has other things customers find more important such as support, and durability for example.

Indeed. Specs are secondary compared to the phone doing what you need it to do. I'm currently on Android, and it's not due to specs but functionality. It's a bit of a bummer that I need to accept worse update support for some functionalities that are basically possible on the iPhone, but not where I live. Granted, there are no dual-SIM iPhones, so that's something where Android has an edge.

Samsung is not apple. And while people can debate their strategy and have their own opinions of it, it doesn't mean what is being discussed here is the same as what is viewed as "the masses".

There has to be a line drawn between Apple fan and Apple fanboy/fanatic.
One knows about tech (Apple fanboy) and thinks apple can do no wrong.
Another does not know much about tech and simply is used to IOS. (These same people complained tremendously about apples removal of google maps that axed transit directions.)

At least thats been my experience with people around me.

However, ytd sales, are up. And Tim's bonus is based on what? YTD right? YTD is the all important indicator for apple.

Not at all...think you need to go back and read it again....
iPhone sales are down...from Apple Investor Relations...

iphone sales.JPG

Apple sold 50.76 million iPhones during the quarter, just barely below the 51.19 million sold in the year-ago period.

2016 was not a great year for iPhone sales; in fact, the company reported 3 consecutive YOY quarterly declines in revenues. Total iPhone sales were down from 231.22 million in 2015 to 211.88 million units in 2016, a decline of almost 10%; not an insignificant amount by all measures. This problem was further compounded by a sharp drop in the average selling price, which tumbled from $717 in 2015 to $651 in 2016, the iPhone's lowest average selling price in 7 years.

No YoY is and he has flopped in that metric. Or are we using whatever metric which shows Tim in good light? We will soon start using the PE and PEG ratios next.

Samsung is an excellent example of how a company's main product line can literally explode and yet we have them breaking records.Apple is even more resilient than Samsung. I can quite confidently say that if Apple did not update the iPhone 7 for 3 more years and I mean not release any new iPhone we would still have them getting more profits than anyone in the industry.

Considering how even iPhones exploding won't even dent their sales, Apple will have to try to fail to fail. That's how strong their position is. Which is why bringing in sales is a deflection.

I doubt this very much because the form factor is switching to small bezels and large screens. Apple would look bad, just as Apple HAD to increase the screen size in 2014.

The perfect phone would be designed and manufactured by Samsung (apples CPU design), OS by Apple, and software by Google. That would be the end all phone.

I have to disagree with you. Apple has higher margins and still has an audience that likes the ecosystem more than the hardware. Unless they come out with a phone that spits crap out of earpiece, they'll likely continue to make the most money.

I guess we will never know. but its interesting to think about it.

EDIT: Come to think of it you maybe right, apple has had the same design since 2014 currently.

Samsung lost billions in their last fiasco. Their phone is not their main product. Their main product is their foundry. So no bringing sales into this is not a deflection.

Show fiscal YTD has flopped. Seems like first quarter was very impressive.
