Well, I'm on the fence once again. While I do like my OnePlus 5, my main SIM is currently back in my iPhone 7 for the more reliable camera and because of me losing confidence in the OnePlus devs once again (I saw how they had implemented the Secure Box functionality, and it seems like the amateur hour is anything but over).
The OP5 does offer dual-SIM, but it looks like my main SIM's signal has improved a bit here, so it's not currently such a deal-breaker it used to be.
The OP5 also offers me mobile payments and NFC goodies such as real-time check of my travel card's balance and active tickets. However, now they have promised Apple Pay in Finland before the end of the year, so depending on which banks join in, the mobile payments issue could be sorted out. Also NFCKit in iOS 11 could help with the other NFC uses. We'll see.
iOS, on the other hand, has some niceties to offer. Even though my Huawei Watch is more stylish than my Apple Watch, the Apple Watch works better as an activity tracker and it's far easier to put in the charger and actually have it start charging the watch. Our TV has both the current Apple TV and a Nexus Player hooked onto it, and with the App Store tvOS just hit it out of the park. I should actually unplug the Nexus Player as it's used pretty much never. iOS devices work nicely with the Apple TV and have an app for Android TV as well. In contrast, Android devices unfortunately (and somewhat unfairly) cannot control the Apple TV in a meaningful manner. AirPods are also nice, and while they do work also with Android, some key conveniences are gone. However, I can live with other Bluetooth headphones as well.
However, if I stick with iOS, I think I'll be either using my iPhone 7 a little bit longer or getting the 7s Plus for the dual camera. The 8 doesn't look too enticing (for now, but things can change on the 12th) and I'm more than a little bit afraid that this is them announcing especially the European pricing:
Then again, I'm also a little bit enticed by the Nokia 8, but it's also having its initial problems especially with Bluetooth and that's a bit scary. iOS 11 is also looking like a borefest on the iPhone while being close to a gamechanger on the iPad, but I can definitely find use for some of the features such as the document scanner and file management. Anyway, let's see what the next week brings. Maybe I'll just end up even more torn
EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot about Pokemon Go, but remembered it thanks to the S8 thread. For me the iPhone is a much better device for Pokemon Go especially when legendaries are involved. I totally ruined a Moltres raid by having just my OP5 with me. I blew at least half of my throws thanks to occasional stutter despite having killer hardware and a mediocre screen protector. ARkit in iOS 11 can only make it better.
