I admit I am a fan boy. But the iPhone X is beautiful its fluid. The Face ID is exactly what the Touch ID should have been. The notch does not exist and its fast. my only complaint is how hot it gets while charging on a wireless charger but thats to be expected.

Love the X but still stick to my belief that NO smartphone is worth 1000 big ones. If they insist on charging silly money at least include things like a fast charger, wireless charger, or AirPods and make it a real premium package.

No, I'm going to upgrade to something else next year. I get why people want to buy it outright, but you essentially get an interest free loan to use/buy the phone and can upgrade a year later -- why not?

I’m not with the big 4 carriers which means I can’t get a loan with them and I can’t use the iPhone Upgrade Program. Not only am I saving money on carriers by not having the big 4 (I pay ~$13 a month for my phone plan), but I save money by buying the phone outright and selling it, rather than using the upgrade plans.

Using the upgrade plans, you’re paying for 50% of the phone each year. iPhones never lose 50% of their value after one year on the resale market. I understand that it’s not as convenient to buy in full and sell, but it saves quite a bit of money compared to upgrade plans, especially when I’m saving money not being with one of the Big 4 carriers too.

So the difference in price between the X ($1,150) and your mythical “keep it for three years” iPhone Cheap ($600) is $550.

That’s $3.52 a week.

What are you going to do with all that extra money? Two bagels or a slice of pizza? Tough call.
Not sure you could have misunderstood any more. I said already that in year 2 with the cheaper iPhone I will have AC kicking in for year 2. Something I refuse to pony up $200 for with the X. It's the difference between $1000 and no warranty versus $730 and a second year warranty.

I regret turning in my 6 plus for the x and only getting €190. But that’s not the point. I love my x and I don’t regret getting the 256 GB.
But around $1642 (€1319) is a tough pill to swallow. It was either a used 7plus or the X. And I didn’t want another 2/3 years with that design or with a plus sized phone... so the X is worth a premium but not THAT much

So add another bagel to the breakfast order. My point is that for something used so often and so important in our lives, a few dollars a week is insignificant. Probably why the X is the best selling iPhone today. The price, while comparatively high, is justifiable.

so important in our lives
Not to get into a big philosophical discussion, but why is a smartphone so important to our lives? And what can the iPhone X at $1,000 do that the iPhone SE at $450 (for 128GB) can't as far as tasks that have an impact on our lives?

Specifically talking those two phones (premium vs entry-level iPhone), can you really justify the additional $550?

True story!

I was on the fence. However in the end I gave up the 8+ (took a loss) and went with the X.
The only regret was allowing the negative post here and by the "experts" sway me.
The X is worth the $ to me.

Similar thing happens to me. Girls throw clothes and phone numbers at me, men want my autograph, and I get lots of interview requests with my X.

And sometimes people stop me and say “is that the tenth anniversary edition iPhone” to which I reply indeed

And they always follow up with “you must have good taste then!”

It has nothing to do with what I can and cannot afford. I've already explained several times that by trading in the X I can get a new and cheaper iPhone with AC this fall.

I also think this logic of 'well it comes down to a bagel a week' or whatever is totally misguided. I can only speak for myself, but I think $1000 or more for a phone is simply ridiculous. If you love the X, sure, you can justify the price. But me, personally, I don't think it's nearly worth that much. With the exception of switching apps, I would have been just as happy with an iPhone 8, and in some ways happier, and it would have saved me $300. My plan going forward is to buy a new iPhone at roughly $600 total and keep it for 3 years. I don't need to spend any more than that to be happy with my smartphone choice.

Absolutely no regrets. This thing is simply the best gadget/tool/portable computer I have even bought. And I had many computers / gadgets over the years!

The cost per minute of use of this thing must be close to peanuts. I am using it a lot for many things.

When I use my X, people bow to me in passing and we lock eyes, it’s sorta weird.

Same here. I am at O’Hare waiting for boarding at the gate and as I’m typing there are five people looking over my shoulders as they see the notch and are compelled to leer and stare.

It’s like I’m Tom Hanks.

Easily worth it. A couple hundred dollars is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Bigger screen in a smaller form factor than the plus and lack of bezel was worth it alone.

So after a little bit of time with your new iPhone do you think the phone is worth $1000?

Do you regret buying it?
Have you taken yours back?
Would you pay the same price next year or maybe a little higher?
Should Apple of included better accessories?

Thoughts and opinions?
NO X 4
no regrets
no returns
no price worries. if upgrade for features, then must anticipate may cost more. not planning to upgrade til next really big features jump. might be 2-3 years.

no add accessories expected becuz any included accessories dilute purchase price of phone unit itself.
