Personally, I sell a few things Apple or other things on side to pay for it as I don't recommend the average user to spend a 1000 each year or even half that. And that's already on top on my cpa salary, investments and all that. I'd really hate to see someone living paycheck to paycheck making what is sort of a car payment to their cell carrier but that's what you see. They say they can afford it but they have no idea what that means. Do they have savings? IRA or 401k? Maxxed an HSA already? Nope, afford means they can still barely manage to pay other bills.

But this isn't a finance forum. It's an Apple one. Apple will charge what the market dictates they can. Obviously they can. And why wouldn't they? Cell carriers are still helping them out spreading the cost over 24 months with hardly a credit check. The average user doesn't see blowing a 1000 plus on a phone, they see it as paying 40-50 a month. It's a shame but they prey on the weak. Certainly not so they can show off the latest design and still use the same features basically. Texts, pics, facebook, a few games, none of this is worth 500+ a year.

I plan on to pay monthly. Which it works out cheaper than from a carrier since I'm on a sim only deal.

I sold my IP7 for £350 but had £200 to pay off so put the £150 towards the IPX

I plan to keep the phone for at least a couple of years so thats £425 a year. Then whatever I sell the phone for at the end so not even paying a £1000 really

Because at last an iris scanner will work while lying down.
I’ve not had one issue unlocking my phone while lying down. Usually it’s in my dark bedroom with only the tv light in the room
[doublepost=1510755752][/doublepost]If I bought the phone outright, I may have had some buyers remorse. Being on the Next plan, I’m only paying for half of it then turning it back on for next years phone. That doesn’t bother me at all.

Apple could have charged more and there would possibly be a bit less of a frenzy to purchase but not by much.

I was at 5th Avenue store in NYC on launch weekend where I got mine, never saw a frenzy like that for any other Apple product.

Not really but hope this is not the normal price from here on out for these shiny toys.

Apple knows a lot of people out there need to have the latest even if it’s on the bleeding edge. Those fools will upgrade at every point no matter the price. I hardly ever see a teenager with the latest iPhone now....they just can’t afford it.
Just as processor chips reach a plateau, the iPhone already has hit that and the weaker sales of the iPhone X show that. That’s why Apple are running around like headless chickens as they try to come out with less expensive models now. You simply don’t get your return on investment unless you keep it for pretty much 4 years. Simply look at the phones the Apple employees use......most have not flocked towards the X at all.

Not the X, but $1k for the 7+, yes I do. I will not spend that much on a phone again because I do not need or use most of the bells and whistles. The 7+ is overkill for me, so the X would be utterly ridiculous.

Yeah I kinda regret spending $879 for
My 7plus and $950 after tax

My 6s Plus was doing just fine, a cOntract phone. But still I was suckered into p3 led screen and the matte black and dual speakers

One of the reasons I am returning the X is because I’m going to wait for the next generation (iPhone XS..XI.. whatever they call it). I remember how much of a difference there was in the first gen and second gen TouchID speed/reliability, and I’d imagine there’s going to be a similar significant performance upgrade in the next X revision.

So if you forked out $$$ for an X, you’ll probably want to get the latest when the XI, 11, 12, XII comes out. Total waste of money and everyone knows it.

Although I like my iPhone X. I do not feel like it’s worth the $1100 I paid for it.

As they say in fighting, “the best pound for pounder fighter”, and the iPhone X and the price point is just doesn’t add up. Too bloated.

What did I fork out, exactly, and what does "everyone" know? I'd paid my 50% on my 7 Plus, the X looked interesting, I took on another device payment plan from Verizon, my total payment went up I think $10 and that was with my switching to Beyond Unlimited. Next December I'll look at what the industry is doing with phones and maybe I'll upgrade to Apple's next whatever. Or maybe I'll get Samsung's next whatever. Or maybe I won't do anything at all and sit pat.

It's a phone. Not the next coming of Christ.

I demoed the X and find it too heavy and large for MY tastes.

It’s an interesting move forward and has an audience today as sales have indicated.

When it comes to costs...

Honestly, I’m a longtime Apple user that has just about had enough of this nonsense.

Let’s be honest, Apple is going WAY overboard with their Costs and need to be knocked down a notch.

Extremely blatant example.

How in the world are they still shipping that same old faulty, 6 months at best before fraying, lightning cable?

I can go on but choose not to be a chairman to obvious issues.

I’m sure I’m speaking to another/newer audience here that accepts this as normal.

I can tell you this from my long history with their products and customer service:

Through my eyes, this is not the Apple of quality products. It has turned into a pig cash machine that can only be stopped by us. Their users!

Ditto. Longtime Apple user here as well that has watched the prices soar past what is reasonable for a smart phone. Yes, A$$le have turned into merely a cash machine. Just look at what they’re asking for MacBooks these days will further confirm your last point. I’ll get my full return on investment with my 6s thank you very much as I’ve no reason to upgrade.

Did anyone regret paying $8-900 for their 7 or 7+? I don’t see what all the OMG $1000 is about??? It’s really not that far off from previous models. The more appropriate question would be do u regret paying for the 6 6S 7? Basically got the same design with minor improvements for 3 years. That’s more regrettable. The X is fresh, new, and exciting. And a great tool. Well worth a grand considering the amount it does to make my life easier.

I think it’s more like the previous models were in the hundreds and now A$$ple have surpassed $1000, and show little sign of slowing down. The next iPhone will be even more. It’s all a cash grab anyways.
I got the 6s once the tweaks were fixed and still use it everyday, all day. I’d say that by now I’ve gotten my money back so that investment was worth it.
The only way I’d upgrade to an X right now would be if it made my dinner or vacuumed the carpet.

The real question is: At what price point would everyone say this is way too much $ for a friggin iPhone?
$1300, $1500, $1700, $2000?

Love mine! Picked it up from Sam's club on their Nov 11th sale which means it came with a Sam's/Walmart $300 gift card...made it that much sweeter of a deal.

Great. Now that brings it down to a proper price point for a device such as this. Good deal.

We can hopefully all agree that international pricing is psychotic,

At least I hope we can. Even if you’re a non-USer, paid whatever you did, and are still happy overall with your purchase

I’d be willing to bet the 20+ people who answered “absolutely!” in the poll thought they were saying the phone is “absolutely!” worth it. A simple yes/no choice would have likely yielded more accurate results.

Yes, it is a valid point. To respond “absolutely” means you regret paying $1000+ for an iPhone X. He/she just needs to brush up on their verbiage.

With a jailbreak X is the greatest thing since slice bread

Considering the differences even stock from previous iPhones with gestures I could see why people dig it

I still feel the asking price is too much but if you
Keep it a while
Or got the cash to burn and dig it, why not?

I'm paying off my X in monthly installments. I am eligible to upgrade after 12 payments. At that point I will trade-in the X and purchase outright a 'cheap' iPhone. Most likely a base model iPhone 8 or the 6.1" iPhone if it's close in price. I'd like to pay no more than $600 for my next iPhone. I will then own that iPhone for hopefully 3 years. My days of getting the latest and greatest iPhone are over. The X was a wake-up call. It's simply not worth the outrageous price IMO.

You’d rather make smaller monthly payments on an 8 than finish up buying out your X ? Why?

Having the phone be “yours” wrapping up X seems more economical long run than restarting payments even if lower.

I tried out the X and didn’t feel it was worth it to upgrade considering it’s drawbacks.
Let’s face it....if I upgraded to the latest and greatest all the time of course I’d say “the iPhone X is a super device and well worth it”. If most admitted honestly they’d say they probably would have waited. At least waited until 2nd gen. It takes some quite a while to realize bleeding edge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

What drawbacks? This is by far the best iPhone upgrade I have had... by a long shot. I don’t upgrade every year either.
