You’d rather make smaller monthly payments on an 8 than finish up buying out your X ? Why?

Having the phone be “yours” wrapping up X seems more economical long run than restarting payments even if lower.
I refuse to pay $200 for AC. I think that's crazy. I don't want to own my X in year 2 and 3 with no warranty.

Instead I will most likely purchase the 8 next fall at full price this fall (let's assume $600) and get AC, which I'm assuming will still cost $129. At that point I'll use the iPhone 8 for 3 years. Yes I'll end up paying $229 more versus keeping the X but I'll also have a second year warranty and a newer phone in year 3.

100% worth it. On iUP it's $650 out of pocket per year to always have the latest flagship on the day it is released plus AppleCare. I'll gladly pay that price to not have to sit around on a phone for more than a year - these things move forward so fast and it gets used a hundred times per day, why skimp on something so necessary.

That's my thought process, at least. I don't get held up over "do I own this thing or is it leased" or any of that stuff - it doesn't change a thing about your experience with it and/or what you can do with it.

no.

this is an incredible device that does so much and is super fast. i watch a lot of movies and music videos on top of gaming. i love near-edge-to-edge and i hated the home button as it was unnecessary (should have just been digital from the start). this is a great phone. it is just very expensive but the build quality and what it does is simply incredible.

i will say however i do like the samsung s8 screen better as it is closer to the edge and is a little narrower making it easier to hold in my hand.

also, in case you didn't see it (Band, baaja, iPhone X: Mumbai man rides horse to store to buy new Apple phone Sitting on a horse and holding a placard that read, ‘I love iPhone X’, he had a procession and a band party follow him to the store): https://www.hindustantimes.com/indi...apple-store/story-Q5cPWv4MqX2219iasswR0I.html

p.s. i love you smart invert colors in accessibility ;)

I'm paying off my X in monthly installments. I am eligible to upgrade after 12 payments. At that point I will trade-in the X and purchase outright a 'cheap' iPhone. Most likely a base model iPhone 8 or the 6.1" iPhone if it's close in price. I'd like to pay no more than $600 for my next iPhone. I will then own that iPhone for hopefully 3 years. My days of getting the latest and greatest iPhone are over. The X was a wake-up call. It's simply not worth the outrageous price IMO.

So the difference in price between the X ($1,150) and your mythical “keep it for three years” iPhone Cheap ($600) is $550.

That’s $3.52 a week.

What are you going to do with all that extra money? Two bagels or a slice of pizza? Tough call.

So after a little bit of time with your new iPhone do you think the phone is worth $1000?

Do you regret buying it?
No Ragrets (credit - We're the Millers). I like the smaller size with a bigger screen, but I miss the landscape mode and fatter screen on my 7+, and expanded landscape movies still crop too much off the top and bottom. I do like Face ID a lot, in how it works better with 3rd party apps.

Have you taken yours back? Kept mine, but wife returned hers and stayed with her 7.

Would you pay the same price next year or maybe a little higher? This should have been a side-grade to the 8+ and cost the same as the 8+, and next year the XI+ needs to cost the same as the X cost upon launch (not more).

Should Apple of [sic] included better accessories? At the inflated price that we paid for a flagship product, it should have included AirPods or Beats, and a 12W charger.

yeah, the iPhone X could easily be priced around $ 1500 (base model 64Gb), cause that's just $ 4,78 a week in your calculation, right? Come on, that's a bargain :D:cool:: $ 4,78 a week for a $1500 smartphone.

If I were Apple, I would price the upcoming 2018 iPhone around $1500/$1600 (base model).
People will calculate what it will cost a week, and in about ALL of those cases, said $1500/$1600 sounds like a bargain then. (heck, people around the several worldwide forums/message boards/techsites even calculate what it will cost a day, then its a real real bargain)

Since getting my phone, It has paid for itself with all the work I put it through and deals I've made as well as apps that helped me productively.

Yes, you can do that with an 8 or even a 7 but where's the fun in that?

I absolutely love my X. Wasn’t sure before I bought it. Now I’m excited to use it everyday. Really like Face ID.

I paid $550 for mine. Through the Apple Store app, I could get a 2-year contract with subsidy from Sprint. I couldn't even get this directly from Sprint. It's the primary reason I upgraded – I wasn't sure when I'd be able to get a deal like this again. I couldn't afford not to buy it! (;

No, I'm going to upgrade to something else next year. I get why people want to buy it outright, but you essentially get an interest free loan to use/buy the phone and can upgrade a year later -- why not?

I don't regret it cause I upgrade every year and I lease it so I didn't have to shell out $1150 for it. However I do think if I could go back I would probably keep the 8 and wait for next year.

I’m not saying the problem doesn’t exist, because it clearly does based off the large amount of people who have issues with their cables. However, I have not had a single lightning cable fail on me, personally, so it’s hard for me to immediately agree and say the cables are of poor quality.

I think it's that the entitled whine more about it, so you hear more about it. Myself, the only lightning cable I ever had come apart was one of Amazon's. Who knows where they actually get those...

Heck, I paid just about that for my 64 GB 8 Plus. IMO for many of us it's our primary computer and with all the functionality is priced as such, seems reasonable all in all.
