Anyone going to be upgrading this year to the newer version? FaceID works unbelievably well I haven't had a problem with it for agesss

I will be. But my main goal is the 6.5 iPhone X. The iPhone 5.8 X is slightly small for me. But I'm also following the iPhone SE 2 rumors closely as well.

Yup, main reason I wanted it.

+1 to this, I was so frustrated with the size of the Plus, but had to stick with it because of the battery life being comically bad on the 4.7" models. X fixes that and sees the end of the day easily.

If be lying if I said I don't miss the screen of the Plus when watching an odd video or browsing though - both are better on the Plus.

And yes, I do sometimes feel silly for paying $1000 for a phone, even though I really do like it.

Yes as much as I’m enjoying the compactness of the X I always opt for the bigger device so the X plus or whatever it’s called will be the phone o get next year.

It lets you play a few super basic games that you control with facial expressions.

The X is worth it to me not because of what it can do that the 8+ can’t (although I do prefer FaceID to TouchID). It’s that it can do everything the 8+ can do, but in a smaller package. Yes there is the non-plus 8, but it lacks the dual camera. For some of us the smaller size is worth paying for.

Exactly! I always wanted a big screen and all of the best technology iPhone could offer… But the plus sizes are too big for my hand. This is the perfect phone size for me and though I hear rumors of them discontinuing the X… I sure hope there’s a 5.6” option later this year with an XI and XIPlus - hopefully. That KEEPS the best camera possible! No more of this “lesser technology” in the smaller phone crap!

That’s a good point. If x gets discontinued and the new model aside from the cheaper iPhone is XPlus only, we’re right on back to that trend after one generation hiccup breaking the cycle

So after a little bit of time with your new iPhone do you think the phone is worth $1000?

Do you regret buying it?
Have you taken yours back?
Would you pay the same price next year or maybe a little higher?
Should Apple of included better accessories?

Thoughts and opinions?
No regret at all. iPhone X has the most advanced technology and superb design. Hence, the best iPhone in the iPhone history. Fortunate for us who are able to purchase and keep it since it was released on November 3, 2017, including myself  It is the foundation of all future iPhones.

I tend to point out that the word "Best" is highly subjective when it comes to design and certainly in terms of Apples iPhone history. Many might argue with you about what's considered best. But we do know the iPhone X is the most advanced iPhone they currently offer, but best greatly varies all the way from the iPhone in 2007 to the iPhone X in 2017.

I wonder how iPhone X buyers would feel if Apple decides to reduce the price of the X by $US$200 by about March?
Given the reports of poor sales, Apple might do it similar to the way it reduced the price of the original iPhone by a third about this time after it was released.

Why March? Are you indicating that would be the time frame A spring Keynote would be possible? Which they would publicly announce an iPhone X price cut during that time, IF at all.

I doubt they will, but even if they do it wouldn’t be the first time early adoption had its price (as you point out). Outside of Apple it is quite common to wait 3 to 6 months for the latest Windows laptops to come down in price, but pricing for Apple products has historically been more stubborn.

Absolutely don’t think they will, however the X owners here will...

Spin it as positive by encouraging more users
Say how they’ve had $200 worth of benefit in the time and they’re buying the next iPhone anyway

$200 is not insignificant, but it’s also not enough that most people are going to kick themselves over it because they didn’t wait to see if the price would drop. If it is enough to cause that kind of stress response, a less expensive model might have been a wiser purchase to begin with.

And why would it seem odd to say that in six months you’ve seen $200 of benefit over the old iPhone? I came from an iPhone 6 and the photo improvements alone has been worth quite a lot to me. Same with those who sell and upgrade every year. If they are so into technology that having the latest is important to them, and they can afford it, why should they care if the price drops? There are bigger things to worry about.

This is not typical of how apple discount a product.

I'd think some kind of promotion or incentive subsidized by the carriers is much more likely.

Since I am paying installments, 10 bucks more a month is NO BIG DEAL! So Yeah. I'm all in!

Obviously I would have preferred to spend less than $1150+tax. And I resisted until late November. But I got tired of the size of the + model I was using.

But I really plan this time to hold off on buying a successor. At least my previous habit of waiting 2 years. Don't want anything larger than the X (maybe slightly wider screen would have been better).

Conflicting rumors of next year's models. A more capable modem chip would be the main advantage, but on ATT B14(?) would be the only potential coverage improvement. Rumored 4CA might be nice too.

If I was on T-Mobile, I would be more likely to upgrade next year to get B71.

When I had the 6, I used the Apple battery case to give me plenty of battery life. Apple didn't provide one for the larger phones (or the X now). If Apple provided a case for the X, I would probably buy one for vacations. When on vacation, taking pictures, battery life is bad on phones, even the +.

Completely agree. Especially with carrier incentives or trade-ins, there likely be promotions that will become more apparent towards the latter part of the year.

No, iPhone X owners are smart enough to know that around 10 months after introduction all iPhone's are susceptible to price decreases as Apple gets the replacement iPhone ready to take its place.,

And $200? That's chump-change for an iPhone X owner. $1,150 + tax + Apple Care + case is $1,520. What's $200 matter to someone laying out $1,500? Immaterial.

I regret buying the X. I had an iPhone 7 Plus before and on iOS 10, battery life was incredible. Easily 10+ hours of usage. With iOS 11, I'm lucky to get 8.5 hours. So, naturally, the reason to upgrade to the X was better battery life. With the X I barely get 9 hours. It's not bad, but after being spoiled by the 7 Plus on iOS 10, it's pretty bad. I expected more from this phone. Seriously considering selling this and getting an 8 Plus.

Honestly I think that’s more the IOS 11 more than the device itself.

I hope the next iOS update fixes some of the buys for the X. I am getting an X in a few weeks. I was going to wait a little but Verizon is having a deal and my dad and I both need to upgrade. Our 6's have been very good to us, but time for a new phone.

It'll be a great upgrade from a 6. You're gonna love it.
