As a no case and no screen protector user, I recently tried a screen protector just for the funsies. I honestly wouldn't mind it, gives me a bit more flexibility in terms of where and how I place my phone. But it's just not the same, screen quality gets degraded a bit, there's more glare, a lot of dust build-up around the edges.

I have 2 small marks on the titanium frame of my 15 Pro Max, both of which occurred whilst being in a case. One is a scuff caused by the case material after being dropped and the other a tiny chip from debris trapped inside the case…

I’m now using it naked and loving it 😁

i always use a case, except the couple of years that you could get bumpers... then i used a skin on the back and a bumper! (which i guess still counds as a case of sorts!)

15PM has held up well after numerous concrete floor drops, actually the screen scratching easier is more of a concern now.

Tungsten Carbide Rings ? Keys ? Purse ?
Scratches ?
Screen Protector and case, trade in value, sanity, preserved.

Titanium keychain, stainless steel knife and pen, titanium wallet, pewter token?
Scratches?
Phone goes in it's own pocket separately from all else. Sits in a business card holder on desk or nightstand, cup holder in car. Does not get put down on rough or 'dangerous' surfaces. Do not trade in, value is for myself. Sanity and enjoyment of using a caseless iPhone, preserved.

I really hate cases, BUT I'm extremely lucky, I know others that drop phones on freaking carpets and somehow the crack. Mine falls from a bar stool in my kitchen a lot, I put it on the seat and people don't see it and off it goes, I hear it fall and say oh there goes my iPhone...still fine. Then I leave it my lap in the truck and I forget and when I get out, sliding across the blacktop it goes. I have had iPhones 3 on up without issue. But it's my luck or lack of worry. It's not for everyone, but if you can afford to, do it. I think the worse thing was when I was gardening and my watch slammed face first into a metal rod, super loud clang! it was crazy hard, hurt my wrist and not a crack, that still amazes me.

See this is why I have designated spots for my phone. I'm also not using my phone as a computer/media device/game console/etc, so it can sit in these designated spots and be fine. Leaving it on a chair, or when driving in my lap, is not conducive to safe handling.

It's a series of rules I've forced on myself over the years that have just become reflex - all designed to protect my phone. When I was 18 I lost my wallet and all it's contents. I went through the whole process of replacing everything in the wallet (and the wallet itself) only to find that I'd left that wallet in the bathroom at school.

When I was 20, I locked myself out of my car for the sixth consecutive time because I'd forgotten my keys. This was on top of one memorable occasion when my dad had to drive 45 minutes with his car keys to unlock the door. He was NOT happy.

So, from both these things I learned that keys, wallet, pocket items and such go in ONE spot at home and ONE spot when out. I forced myself to do this and trained myself because I really do NOT care for the panic that comes from having 'lost' something because I didn't put it where it SHOULD be. Once I got a cellphone in 1999 that also applied to my phone.

I don't panic or worry anymore because things are right where they should be - in a SAFE spot.

I use a skin and a case. I find I get high resale value as without a skin, it can still get scratched when there is dirst/dust trapped underneath. When it's time to sell, I simply remove the skin and the phone looks like it was never used.

What do you use your phone for...besides calls? Sounds like an iPhone/smartphone is expensive overkill for you.View attachment 2417437
Calls, texts, some email and light web browsing when out. Very rarely I will use it for streaming something if I'm going to be away from home for some time. Also, Google Chat for when I'm out but the guy who controls my work schedule needs to contact me.

And yes. Overkill. However, I've had an unnecessary cellphone since 1999, simply because I wanted one. And it made my life easier when out. The same is true now, but it also allows me to coordinate schedules with my wife and two kids as well.

I'm not really a fan of just getting only what I need. Usually though, when I get what I want it has a tendency to take care of what I need as well. Why? Overkill. :)

SO your case and screen protector are your pants.

I don't think even your pants, could survive a modern purse contents for very long, much less a slip or fall.

I do appreciate a naked phone but, I'll continue with a different solution to help absorb life's mishaps.

Yeah, you could say that. So are the business card holders I use.

I'm a graphic designer, a profession I chose in 1999 so I wouldn't have to keep doing a physical job (sorting packages at UPS) and because it was working with computers. Which puts me at a desk all day. Every job I've had since has been at a desk. And with COVID and beyond I became work from home 100 percent. I get out to take people to work/school and then pick them back up. In between, maybe the store, a restaurant or a coffee shop.

PS. My wife doesn't use purses and her job as a teacher does get physical some times (she's a SPED teacher). She prefers cases, but her phone always goes in her back pocket when she's with me. She will constantly sit on it.

PPS. I make my daughter use a case, because she's careless. I don't mean careless as in not paying attention, careless as in doesn't really care what happens to her phone. My son, OTOH is quite careful and hasn't used a case since he was 15 (he'll be 21 in October).

If I had a physical job, things would be different, but I don't and that was a deliberate choice.

After using a Mujjo leather case for the first time with the 15 Pro Max, I’ve been very satisfied and ordered one for the 16 Pro Max too !

I was about to get the Alacanside case but decided to stick with the Leather option.

Looks clean imo without a distracting logo and it’s held up really well.

Last time I used a case was the bumper case with iPhone 4 when Steve Jobs told me I was holding it wrong. Since the 5 I stopped using cases as I love the feel of the iPhones in hand. Don’t care about dropping it as I have home insurance that covers accidental damages and theft forever for all my belongings outside and inside. I Only cracked the back glass of 1 iPhone though since the release of the iPhone 3G.

Also my visa credit card extends the warranty to identical conditions of manufacturer of any purchases made with it by 2 years so I get full free battery replacements when below 80% during 4 years after purchase (EU iPhones have 24 months warranty without applecare).

But I do like to put a big case on for going through airport security as i Hate those filthy dirty trays.

For my 14 PM I bought three apple silicone cases (red, storm blue and midnight), one apple leather case (midnight) and two spigen cases (liquid crystal and ultra hybrid). Less or more 250-270€ and I’m still writing touching the stainless steel surface of the frame of the naked phone 😂🤑😂

Next one I will only pick up AC+ and a cheap silicone case for special situations (like sail boat and similar 😅).

Nope. Cases add a surprising amount of weight to the phone and I've tried a hundred of em. iPhones are built so well now that it's amazing the beating that they can take. I've dropped my 15PM a dozen times on concrete floors and not even a blemish.
Case - yes, Screen protector - never
So no protection for the most important part of the phone
Screens are another story however and I will be protecting the 16.
