That would be the same as admitting they were wrong, and it's rare that Apple does that.Do you think Apple would ever do a "Classic" version (the old Photos app) and put it on the Apple Store? Then everyone would be happy!

It only takes one apple to spoil a bunch! That would be the same as admitting they were wrong, and it's rare that Apple does that.
Yes, we all saw this during the beta period and there was all the same talk then, too. I can only speak for myself, but I absolutely filed feedback…It only takes one apple to spoil a bunch!
I don't know 'who' in Apple decided to say "Hey let's change the Photos app".
Wasn't this shown to the public beta-testers?
So true. They ruined Books in iOS 16 and haven't looked back. I've been slowly transferring over to Kindle. That would be the same as admitting they were wrong, and it's rare that Apple does that.
Well I took a photo of my work laptop in order to update the common laptop on the classroom but it wouldn't show up there nor in recent photos, only in screenshots. I just took a screenshot of my home screen and the same thing though it does show up in screenshots and recent photos.I'm curious what you mean - is that not what you get when you swipe down?
Silly question - are you sure you aren't just accidentally looking at a filtered view of your main library? The filtering (up/down) arrow options on the main view are sticky, so if at some point in the past you turned off screenshots under View Options then the main library view will not be showing screenshots, ever.Well I took a photo of my work laptop in order to update the common laptop on the classroom but it wouldn't show up there nor in recent photos, only in screenshots. Good grief, thank you for this! Very helpful that was it!Silly question - are you sure you aren't just accidentally looking at a filtered view of your main library? The View Options also don't turn the Filter icon blue, so it's perhaps not obvious that you are looking at a filtered view.
You and me both...and I'm still on 17!Interesting thread. Because I've stopped even trying to understand the iOS Photos app 2 redesigns ago. I consider myself lucky that I can still find the list of all photos and pull stuff out from there.
this still happening with 18.4
photos widget still shows no photos available
no memories maker
no featured photos, trips, suggested wallpaper
i did a clean install, probably broken till iOS 19 at this point
I see a photo above the other photos. You can turn that off in the app. When I go into an Album it shows a picture behind the pictures and I can't find anything in the albums now.
I think a lot of the complaints are merely user error or misunderstanding.I see a photo above the other photos. You can turn that off in the app.
Click on the up/down arrows->View Options->Movie Preview. Just uncheck that.
I don’t ever see a photo behind other photos.
No, and knowing there’s 28 pages of other folks complaining about all of these changes, it’s not just “user error” or a misunderstanding. Most folks were happier with the 4 tabs at the bottom, including your photo library as one of them with just your basic folders. They could have easily added all the extra cruft to one of those tabs instead of forcing everyone to organize and “figure it out” as they go. And not only that, but there’s been a lot of quality of life type updates that have “helped”, but it’s not the same.I think a lot of the complaints are merely user error or misunderstanding.
