I have to stay signed out of iCloud currently to use Finder in any capacity. I am going to give a day and try again but even signing out of iCloud crashed some internal Apple app

oh, why does every update turn blue tooth back on? I keep it off as my iMac tends to grab my headsets even when I am using them on another device.

second issue, autocomplete in Mail now always defaults to the same address regardless if I never use, in particular my mom and sister share the same first name so when I type the first initial it defaults to my sister instead of using my mom's address even though she was the last emailed. when looking in recent autocompletes my sister is not even listed; exchanges with her are always IM

Same here. Tried signing back into iCloud and beach-balling was immediate. This is a work laptop so I’m sure some of their management software is to blame. My personal 16” MBP doesn’t have the same issue.

When I look at the votes, there are more people than last week who discover bugs in Sonoma. That's why I keep Ventura on my internal drive and Sonoma on an external SSD. ;)

'21 14" MBP it's buggy.
This is a fresh install from Apple.
My update of Monterey went sideways and bricked my Mac.
Tried all the things that are supposed to fix a bricked mac and none worked.
So I did an appt at the closest Apple store.
They could only erase and re-install. (Thankfully I had a recent Timemachine backup.)
So I ended up with Sonoma the week it came out.

Several issues;
Keep having problems trying to transfer large files >2gb via USB.
Photoshop "Save for Web" has a corrupted preview. This is a widely reported issue. I've also seen some reports of similar apps having preview corruption.
Apple ID is busted on this mac. Only half signed in with some services working and others not. Keeps popping up an alert to agree to terms of service but it doesn't work.
Was able to fix the AppleID problems eventually by logging out of it and logging back in. But the hanging message is pretty concerning. I kind of want AppleId to be hermetically sealed, perfect and invulnerable. This is not that.
Update: now I'm noticing that I'm missing a lot of my notes. They show up in iCloud. They weren't on my computer at all. I had to uncheck Notes in iCloud and then re-check it. Some, but not all populated.
I can still see the missing ones in the Cloud, but this is absurd. I'm a very ADHD/Dyslexic person. I rely on Notes to keep me organized throughout the day. The continuity between my computers and phone is crucial. WTH.

ps. Also notice that every time I use Terminal some bunch of text populates chiding me to switch back to ZSH from Bash. Not a bug, but surely annoying! I prefer Bash.

right now, there are 106 votes, vs the how-many-thousands of macusers who are in the world running sonoma.

macrumors is a great place for help, discussion... but basing decisions on the posts of 106 people (and it's 60-40 positive right now) is perhaps not the way to figure out when & if to upgrade your OS (for me, btw, sonoma is pretty great...)

My MacBook Air m1 2020 8gb is now experiencing some minor annoyances.
mostly with music and streaming to the Home app and some safari issues were pages won't close
there were some other nuisances that were noticeable in Sonoma but not in Monterey or Ventura.

excellent OS though
but Monterey has a better overall feel.

edit or added item wrong with Sonoma:

  1. Safari goes to screen savor twice while watching a baseball game online, 5 minutes then again after 20.
  2. Music did not play songs (the next in line) several time this week
  3. Safari Reader problems on local websites which worked in Monterey this week
  4. trackpad stuck during screen savor twice this week, a quick escape helped.
  5. tv ALWAYS needs to reboot to play movies on active MacBook Air via computer app.
  6. there is no 6!

there
I've only found 13 bugs so far.
I stopped counting after 6, umm 5 bugs.

Nov 1st i'm reinstalling a fresh version Monterey with safari 17? (the latest) on the MacBook air
and might purchase a new Mac mini for Sonoma which might be geared and designed for the M2 chip.

then I rest!

I’ve had to set a cron job to kill the daemon responsible for usb-c accessories receiving firmware updates as my dongle would otherwise restart every few minutes and nuke my display in the process. The issue started with Sonoma but is now also reproducible with Ventura.

My latest annoying bug is the 'open link behind Mail'
only seems to do that half of the time. The rest of the time it switches to the default browser and opens it.
Of course I'm using Firefox not Safari. So I'm sure that wasn't tested, and probably isn't supported.

In Sonoma 14.0, after login, when I open an application (e.g. Mail or Safari), the window immediately closes and I have to reopen it. This seems to be solved in 14.1 beta 3. There are also sometimes problem when I switch the users in the login window. If I want to type the password a spinning beachball appears. (not often).

For the most part, aside from the wallpaper, feels like Im still on Ventura. Did find some graphical issues with some Steinberg plugins in Cubase though. Missing controls/pop up windows/text/etc. Some of them came back after wiping your mouse over it, some didn't. Halion's standalone version had to be force closed because the buttons and text were missing on the 'Are you sure you want to quit' screen, and the prefs screen was totally blank, so you couldn't turn off the warning. Steinberg hinted that they were 'hoping Apple would fix it' and what do you know, everything works again in the 14.1 betas.

M1 Max Pro. Only thing I've seen so far is the Messages window glitching and adding a lot of padding at the right-hand side to the message display. Closing the window and reopening fixed it.

But then again, I rarely run into issues with macOS updates. If I encounter a bug it tends to stick around forever anyway (e.g. QuickTime Player's inability to play certain MP4s).

I’ve experienced these same issues. I’ve found that Finder tends to be the cause of iStat’s problems for me. It tried to refresh or reload mounted drives and seems to just fail to do so. I use an app called Jettison, too, to “one click eject” all of my mounted external drives, and I’ve found that seems to have issues. Probably all connected.

Oh cool, now iCloud is totally misbehaving again. Woke up this morning to find iCloud had disconnected overnight and all my iCloud Documents are gone off this laptop.
A restart got it re-connected. But not all of the docs are back. Including an extremely important one! Lucky for me the numbers doc was still on iCloud. So I could open the web portal and manually download.
The amount of swearing my neighbors heard might put me in the Hague.
If I can't depend on Apple programs to work with Apple cloud services on an Apple computer I really can't trust this OS at ALL. 14.1 better be more stable. This whole week has been iCloud failing.

Has anyone installed macOS Sonoma on a 13" 2018 MBP? If so I'd love to get your feed back. Just wondering about this upgrade for my wife's MBP. It will probably be the last major upgrade for that model. Will be looking at a M2 or later for her late next year.
Runs beautifully on my M1 14" MBP.

I too have had some iCloud problems - mainly syncing Messenger and Photos. I have had to turn off/on iCloud Messages, and turn off/on iCloud Photo Sharing (with reboots in between) to fix problems 2-3 times. Reminders syncing a little sluggish at times but does sync.

Also, I am one of the 3 people in the world that use and like Stage Manager, I am pretty sure now that Chrome and Safari always open their windows when opened for the first time at the far right edge instead of where they closed.
