I do wonder why this issue seems exclusive to the 10.5 Pros... At least, I haven't encountered any threads complaining about previous models.

True, The iPad mini 4 screen is flawless, and super accurate. I was kinda disappointed with The 10.5 and yellow band and true tone seemed very often too warm.

I agree it seems strange. I think the best explanation is that it's a brand new screen & size, so it's least likely to be perfected.

Also I find true tone to be pretty useless, in my usage all it does is make the screen way too warm that in no way matches the room's color temperature, so I just leave it off. I do use night shift though.

What I find really funny is that every tech review currently out right now awards the 10.5 iPad Pro with the highest honors for the new screen. Personally I strongly feel its the single biggest flaw and setback for the new 10.5. Way too many display issues for my liking...What I've seen so far would be:

1. Yellow banding on nearly every single one.
2. Varying levels of brightness or whiteness between same exact models and settings.
3. Small scratches in display right out of the box.
4. White static line flashes across the display upon start-up on the Apple logo screen.
5. Dust under screen.
6. What appears to be faint sparkles or glitter type material under glass, these are seen with iPad turned off.

All of this points to horrible non existent quality control. Period.

Exactly. I find that reviewers never mention screen issues for some reason. They always just rave about how great it is.

Probably because they don’t experience them....

I would guess that most reviewers aren't nearly as picky, since they are probably reviewing 5 other things at the same time for their blog or whatever, they don't sit down and analyze they display across varying conditions, brightness levels, background colors, etc. Who knows though.

My general experience with tech reviews is that the reviewers aren't nearly as thorough as I would like them to be, and never talk about a lot of the things I'd like them to. Also just as one example, reading some of the things most reviewers say about the device cameras, etc. reveal that they really do not even understand basic digital photography, and they are tasked with providing a review for a high profile blog/website/magazine. That is probably the most common one I notice.

It's not exclusive to 10.5 it's also happening with 12.9, I've got slight, minimal color difference from left to right only. No dark corners, no backlight bleeding, so I decided to keep it, because I'm frightened to play the display lottery again...

I went through over a dozen iPads last fall to this spring and had these issues and more, including dead pixels. Got so frustrated I gave up for months now. Just ordered two 2017 iPads that will come tomorrow. I expect dust under the glass since the display isn't bonded. Sucks because otherwise the devices are great- but the screens are awful.

This is my 6th iPad pro . Previous have all been WiFi only 512gb with terrible screens .. this is a LTE 512gb ... I notice tint shift from left to right in landscape.

As it's a lot of money I'm in minds

Do you think it's a keeper ?

Thanks

As far as I can see, yes it looks like a keeper

If it looks good to your eyes especially, by all means, keep it.

The lottery isn't a fun one

Hi guys. I've been reading through this thread and it's got me OCD about my iPP 10.5 screen. I like it so far. I've attached pics taken from the iP7 to see what you guys think. Is it a keeper? *crosses fingers*

My apologies about having to use a DB link. I couldn't get the pics to upload. Anyway, thanks guys!

Finally I go to the Apple Store next Wednesday to show the screen of my 10.5 " to the genius.
I will ask for an exchange with opening of the product in the store to control the display ...

I can see the yellow band as my 10,5" ... Sorry ...

I'm tempted to try the 12.9 ... Or just keep the 10.5 and deal with the tint. its just the cost of these iPads that is frustrating and the fact that I will Be keeping it for a very long time .

I also had to return my IPP10.5 (DM*) due to yellow tint and two(!) dead pixels.
What is a device with p3 gamut good for, if white is yellow???
Very poor quality (QC) for a pro(!) device in this price range imo.
Amazing promised specs and annoying facts.

Is there still yellow banding? Is the production process already optimized?
I guess, that all those returned devices with display problems will find a customer in the end.

There are threads for this at every iPad launch unfortunately.

Correct. What I find puzzling is that in spite of this being a regular occurrence with a new gen of devices that more people don't wait a few months (4-6) for things to clear up. Is it really worth the hassle of exchanging it 2, 3, even 10 times?

But is there any proof that things do get better after 4-6 months? In my experience, this isn't the case but that's my opinion

It's abit dimmer bottom left but it's pretty good overall.. my first 4 iPad pros was shocking unfortunately never took any pics didn't even set them up.
Yeah, my first iPad Pro was awful too. Unfortunately, I couldn't change it in store, so I had to change it via Apple Service and it took 14 days.
And now I don't know what to do: keep this one or try to change again (and wait another 14 days).

All I can say is the screen lotto is frustrating.. I've had 5 iPads with bad displays and dust under display. On my 6th now and it's the best so far and I'm still on the fence as to return or keep.

My god, weren't you around for any of the previous launches? This happens every year, for the iPhone as well.
