I had a very upset experience in Pasadena Store today. I have the same problem that dust inside the rear camera lens so I went to store this morning for a replacement. Their supervisor used her very unfriendly tone refused the new replacement. She said the only option is going to open up the phone and replaced the camera. I argued you guys promoted "DUST RESISTANT" and now I need to suffer this defection for a 1250 USD phone. Moreover, there was no resell value once you open it up and it is just less a month new phone, besides, I have friend got replacement in other store just two weeks ago. She kept using her tough attitude to say NO and showed her unsatisfied about the "SUFFER" word that I used and the whole conversation was super unhappy and I can totally feel her MEAN. That was surprising. After I came back home I was trying to talking to Apple rep on phone, after she turned back from her supervisor, she changed her tone regarding this issue and acting like a wall to resist my complaint (She was nice at the first beginning), the more ridiculous answer I got is "Changing the camera is making your phone NEWER, you dont have to worry devaluation". When I heard this answer I totally gave up and want to hang up the call. I cant believe I heard "NEWER" from an apple specialist. They now have same guidance to handle this dust problem and refused to give customer replacement and look customers as STUPID. Anyway, I have to accept Apple's business ethic nowadays, this Iphone X is my last Iphone in my life and I do wish Apple can walk longer in the future days!

I was trying to response a topic regarding dust in camera on Apple community site with this paragraph and got removed IMMEDIATELY.

Hi guys.

I also have this problem, one month old iPhone X. You can see a discoloration near the top of the picture slightly towards the right.

Do i have to get the phone replaced or is there another way to fix this?
I already cleaned the camera from the outside but that did not help one bit.

Hi!
I have the same problem with a brand new phone.

I flashed a few minutes of lightning from iphone 7 to a camera lens and wondered if there was dirt. Has the flash made it dry?
Then i shake up with the phone. And it disappeared. I think sealing does not work. IP67

They clearly didn’t want to help - they cannot replace the camera in store!

Just to make sure I understand correctly: you fixed the issue by pointing the iPhone 7s build in flashlight towards the camera?

Yes, I shone in the lens for a few minutes. And than i shake up with the phone. I think it's drying out

call apple on the phone and tell them your speaker keeps messing up and the battery keeps dieing really fast, and they should send you a new phone. that did happen to me they sent me a new X with dust under the camera lens i called and argued with them they sent me another new x this time dust free, and an apple leather case for my troubles. they should fix your issue.

That's good customer service though. I don't know any other company that would offer you a free leather case for the issues you encountered.

This really bothers me. This is a $1000+ phone, and in many cases well over $1300! This shouldn't be an issue and is actually making me want to look elsewhere for my phone.

Does anyone have an issue where the dust actually affects their photos? There is a little dark circle when I take photos and its noticeable with a white background :(

You think apple will replace my phone? I bought it through Verizon a month ago

Can you physically see the dust under the camera lens cover near the camera lens? If you purchased it through Verizon, the most you can be offered as a replacement/refurbished iPhone through Apple or you can utilize Verizon's refurbished iPhone services.

Just my luck, right? Gone through 1 exchange already because my very first X had a speck inside one of the back camera lenses.

My new one was perfect, except, in the evening while shopping, an even bigger speck appeared on the same lens, as if it was already there hiding, then, bam!

I’m now awaiting to have it exchanged again tomorrow morning because the Apple Store didn’t have spares until then.

I gotta give it to Apple customer service, though. They really treat you well and will take care of you.

TLDR to updates: Gone through 5 phones in 2 days. All but the one I have right now had tiny specs of white dust on the rear bottom camera. Some only showing up after having the phone for about a little bit. I am crossing my fingers on the one I have right now which is so far dust free after about 2 hours or so. If you don't get a 4th update here, all is dandy!

UPDATE 3: Got to the Apple Store and as usual, the team was more than happy to rectify the problem. I was brought another brand new unit, opened it up and checked it again...what the heck is happening?...this one has it too, and on the same bottom camera! Showed it to the sales associate, this time I was really disappointed. Then she saw it but she had to call a supervisor to verify since this brand new unit she just got for me was barely touched. Then the supervisor checked it himself but instead of agreeing, he kept saying he cannot see anything. This went on for about 15 minutes until he wouldn't want to do an exchange anymore, telling me that these specks of dust are to Apple's manufacturing standards...yada yada yada. I stood my ground and insisted on another exchange...the last one for me or I'll walk away without a phone. Then they agreed. Lo and behold, the last one didn't have specs, but knowing this might not be the ultimate ending to my story, I left the Apple Store anxious and nerve racked. So far, I got home after about an hour and no dust...fingers are still crossed.

UPDATE 2:
Well, what do you know, folks...another tiny speck showed up in the bottom rear camera again! I swear, I checked my replacement properly before I left the store and kept checking, walked around the mall a bit then checked it again after about 30 mins...and there it was. This proves that dust is definitely inside the modules ready for them to be shaken loose. It's disappointing indeed. Back to the Apple Store for another replacement.

UPDATE 1: I got a perfect replacement finally. Now let’s see how this holds up and if it’s hiding another speck in there somehow.
I have exactly the same problem. My iPhone X is less than a month old and I saw the same thing. White dust appeared on the bottom lens and I saw it today which is weird because iPhone X’s rating is IP67 which means it is supposed to be protected from dust. EXTREMELY protected...

So I gave my iPhone X to the reseller hands and they told me it’ll take min 2 weeks for them to detect the problem. Now I have no money and no phone and I’m very very disappointed.

Every single iPhone X I have seen has accumulated or shown specks of dust under the camera at some point or another. Anyone who tells you otherwise is most likely lying and in my opinion isn’t something worth exchanging for.

Lol what? Visible artifacts on photos are not a reason for an exchange?
[doublepost=1515595910][/doublepost]I just got back from the Apple store and got my iPhone replaced. It was not a great experience.

I had to have an argument with the store manager for them to replace it because they only wanted to replace the camera module and asked me to come back tomorrow to pick it up.

I told them this was unacceptable because the X that had the issue was already a replacement phone because the first one had a loose screen.

They were very reluctant to do the replacement and it took me about 15 minutes of discussion to finally convince them.

I can’t believe I have only had my $1000+ phone for just 5 weeks and already had to replace it twice. I am also disappointed that they were so reluctant to do the replacement even though they were the ones who gave me an already broken replacement phone with dust under the camera in the first place.

Whilst mine has some tiny specks of dust I do not see any artifacts on the photos.

There are so many issues with Apple Qc. I have had a few phones and there were a multitude of issues from a creaking screen, scratches, dust etc. my most recent one has a soft power button that’s harder to press, dust in the camera, and two scratches on the display out of the box. At this point I am past worrying though because every unit has had something wrong with it. I am just going to enjoy the phone for a year and then sell it and move on to the next.

I honestly don't know how someone like yourself can have this much unfortunate incidents where every device has been defective. I believe what you're saying, but my experiences don't even come close to matching yours with Apples quality control. Almost everything I own from them, not just iPhones, have been stellar in quality control. Which is one of the number one reasons why I purchase from them in the first place.

Quite a significant spot appeared to my photos on the wide angle lens of the iPhone X. I returned it to the re-seller here in Finland and they sent it to repair. I would think this issue it not repairable though in the iPhone X and I should get a replacement once they take a look, right?

If it is dust, they can open the X and remove the dust...

False. Apple will not open up the iPhone X to remove any dust. The Only thing Apple will do with any iPhone that allegedly has dust, is send the phone to be completely refurbished to a repair center. But they do nothing with the phones internally for dust at the store level For clarification.
