Not what he said but you do love to twist things when it goes in your favor. Fight like hell when it dont

Dodge is right because instead of countering what I said and denying it, he came up with an excuse.

----------

When calling businesses, it will still ask you to confirm which one.

I like hands free only but I want the voice feedback too

If you set "Voice Feedback" to "HandsFree Only", Siri doesn't ask to confirm. I'm not sure what the default is, but that's what I use. I've tested the US Airways Flight 400 question about 5 times, and each time the result pops up within a second of me saying it, and I'm not on Wifi.

Maybe I need to make a video :p

Please do :p

Based on the two videos in the thread linked to by the other poster, it appears that Google's voice input, output and speed blows Siri away, but Siri is more intelligent.

GV's voice is more human. GV has near-perfect voice recognition and it's smart (Woucester, Mass vs. Wooster College). And very fast, as stated many times.

Siri is more intelligent in terms of ways to ask it for things, and the fact that you can say things like "when I leave" or "when I arrive at ..." and it understands what you mean.

how can I say it's much better when I can do the same exact thing and get the same exact answers with Siri?

Because it didnt give the exact same answers and it wasnt as efficient. Im not saying it sucked by any means but it isnt as polished as Google Now.
But who cares?
Your phone of choice is the iPhone so if you like Siri, great. Siri wont make me move to the iPhone at all and if i was happy with the iPhone , Google Now wouldnt make me move the Android.

Looks like everybody will be happy in this regard.

:D

He implicitly acknowledged the results are identical in his response that Siri needs Google to be efficient.

No, not really. He implied that Siri needs Google to be more efficient. Nothing "identical" was said. If it were identical, you wouldnt need to use more words and press a button to use a web search.

Again, both were good, GN was just better but i do like the geolocations of Siri. Dont know if GN can do that or not.

I don't find it ironic in any way since Apple doesn't own any search technology.

Same way Apple didn't invent the MP3, smartphone or tablet computer...but they sure made it a hell of a lot better and made their name off it.

Cool, i looked on ebay...any specific type i need? Or do i need the tags made for the GS3?

Buy NTAG203 ones, not Ultralight. NTAG203 allow more bytes to be written which allows you to perform more actions.

They cost the same anyway.

I get mine from rapidnfc.com. Not sure if they ship worldwide though.

You aren't understanding that if I ask Siri to search Google to answer a question, I'll get THE EXACT SAME RESPONSE as Google Now.

No one said their interfaces or way of working was the exact same.

I agree. The way I see it, Google Now simply displays a "clip" of Google's result. Siri does the exact same thing with WolframAlpha.

Only difference is that Siri isn't integrated with Google directly so it doesn't show that "clip." She'll open the Google search in Safari instead but it has the exact same answer at the top of the page.

Add the word "Google" in front of your question, it won't ask you to confirm. I just did it and got an answer within a second.

Google now only googles for you if it can't find it directly. If you say Google in siri it will Google search no matter what.

Actually every answer found by Google Now is searched for on Google and then answered using a source from Google. You can even try it on your own computer as I've shown many times already.

Seach something like "What is the cast of the Big Bang Theory" and the cast members will be shown at the top of Google, above all the search results.

No if you ask it something like what is the height requirement for kingda ka it will grab it from Wikipedia or another source. It won't just display the first Google result.

I get 10 for £8 including shipping ($12). Not a great difference!

OK, got 10 coming for $15.27 US :)

Coming from Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Ill have to figure out to to use them. Ill read up some but you just stick them in your car for example and the phone wil sense them? Never used this feature before.

Yeah, you need to buy "NFC task launcher" on the app store which lets you program them. Then you just touch the back of your phone on the tag or hold it nearby and it'll work.

I don't have a 4s, but a 3gS, and depending on the new iPhone specs it's either that or 4s since I can upgrade now.

Anyways, so what you're saying is, if I need milk from grocery store, and I say "Siri, remind me to pick up milk next time I'm at Kroger/giant eagle/etc" it will remind me when I get to the grocery store??

You can say it like that if you have whatever grocery store you want to go to stored in your contacts. Since most people don't want to have unneccesary entries in their contacts list, it's easier to say "remind me to () when I leave".

Just did a little test to see how Siri would respond with "Remind me to pick up milk when I get to Giant Eagle". Siri's reply is "I don't understand...." "I can remind you when you leave, when you arrive at a place, or at a certain time" Me: "remind me when I arrive at Giant Eagle". Siri still didn't understand.

I don't know why Siri can only access your contacts and not, say, do a google search for giant eagle and find some in the area and allow the user to select which one they want. I mean, you can say, "is there a giant eagle near me?" and Siri can find that.

Mr. Batting1000, is this something that Siri is capable of in 6.0?

Darn I was hoping she'd remind me when I got to the store. Because I build up my lists over the week or weeks. And when I think of it, it'd be nice to continually add to one list and have it for me when I get to a specific location

Yea, it can work the way you want, you'll just have to add that store as a contact. Not ideal, but if there are only a few stores you frequent, it could work.

So, you're looking to create a list, moreso than be reminded to pick up one particular thing at the store?

Siri is capable of creating a new note for you, maybe this would be a better idea? Not sure how it works on editing notes though, have never done that. I'll give it a test here in a little bit and get back on that...unless someone else knows the answer already.

And that way, you know to just look at the notes app when you go to the store to shop. You could even set a reminder like "remind me to look at my notes app when I arrive at X", with the caveat being, "X" is in your contacts. So might be worth it for you to add your grocery store if this is how you'd like it to be done.

In iOS 6.0, you can manually enter an address in the Reminders app to create a geofence. You can't search for businesses within it though, and Siri cannot create geofences for businesses either, at least for me. Even if I say "remind me when I arrive at [address]," she adds that to the reminder name and doesn't create a geofence.
