I have never seen a definitive mention of the maximum esims permitted on a phone. I have had 3 or 4 on my iPhones without any problems. Other forums and esim reviews have claimed anywhere from 10 to 50 are possible, but I cannot find any set amount listed on an Apple source document. I suspect it may depend on the brand & model of your phone and what they built in to the device. The operating system could also be a limiting factor I suppose.

What model of phone and how many esims would you like to have on it?

It just seems like few people are talking about the fact that iPhone is not really a dual SIM it's more like an unlimited SIM device.

Say you lived in Singapore and you are a SEA regional manager. You could have your home SIM as plastic SIM #1 and then you could have a local eSIM for 10+ countries in your region, switching between them as you land. So I am curious if anyone is taking this approach yet.

My best guess is that someone in that position would use a regional esim like "Sim4Crew" that covers the area and countries where they need service. That would give them data in most, if not all the places they are likely to need it. Probably less expensive also, with 20Gb for $40, good for 90 days. At least that's what I would probably choose. It is available on the Airalo site and app.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max does the same thing and I think it's because of the "Notch" in the upper display. I'm guessing they configured the screen for all devices to be standard, and there just is not enough room for the bars, WiFi symbol, time and battery state to also include the carrier ID.

A swipe brings up the identical display for me also, and extends about half the width of the Notch, like your Claro line.

Pre iOs 13.4 both lines show on locked screen:

Can you have your eSIM in more than one phone and just turn off / on the eSIM in whichever phone you'll be using?

Anyone tried this?

Could be convenient. Employer gives me a Sim for service. I have another line with TMO. Anyways being able to do eSim process without having to be on account etc could be convenient.

Can anyone confirm this works as advertised. Physical sim to eSim on new phone?

I've done eSim to eSim transfer from 11 PM to 12 Pro, worked flawlessly. Not all carriers support it, At&t does.

New eSIM feature in iOS 14: Prior to iOS 14, when turning off an eSIM line in the settings, the number would be immediately deregistred from iMessage/FaceTime. Now, the number stays registered for 30 days.

Curious. Mine doesn’t behave that way. When I turn off my eSIM line, the number is immediately removed from iMessage and FaceTime. I don’t see the dialog or controls you show.

I can confirm that eSIM to eSIM transfer from iPhone 11 Pro max to iPhone 12 worked flawlessly with Swisscom.

No idea if "physical to eSIM" works with them too, but it's easy to scan a new eSIM in their portal with the QR Code anyway.

I’m on Verizon.
My number is currently on the eSIM of my 11 Pro Max.
I want my number to be on the eSIM when I get the 12 Pro Max. (physical SIM free for international travel)
I bought the 12 PM SIM free.
I’m okay with the activation free if there will be one.

I want to know what I need to do here or any considerations to make sure I transition smoothly. Will I run into issues with this scenario?

Vodafone UK told me just to re-scan the QRCode they originally gave me if I ever accidentally deleted the eSIM from my phone. I had assumed that means I could scan it into a new phone too to move the service if I ever upgraded to a new phone.

Many thanks for that brilliant thread, just discovered it.

I didn't know there is something like "Whatsapp for business" - is it possible to just download it, install it and use it without actually having a business, but rather as a business account?

I am on my eSIM but go between countries and would also prefer to have Whatsapp on the physical SIM for official communication... just wondered if that would be allowed.
