So...

Question for the class. I'm a long time (Series 0 holla!) Apple watch wearer, and I've had 10 more since. I never collected genuine Apple bands, other than a few purchases here and there, and what came with the watches. Primarily I went with third party sport bands from eBay, but one "rotted" off where it connects to the watch, and I decided no more.

In the past month, I began collecting authentic bands, thanks to the eBay seller suggestions listed in this forum, and I've picked up 20 or so, from eBay, Apple, whatnot.

Having said all of that....once you start adding in similar shades, how exactly do you tell the difference between (example) Fog and Cement? A chart?

Thanks all.

Check out the app Bandbreite.

It can help a lot. Aside from that, yes there are a lot of comparison pics that sellers on eBay use to show differentiations.

Bandbreite is a nice app because it lets you add to your collection, and it includes every band release ever and organizes them, even including SKUs which is often critical to telling very similar things apart.

As mentioned by @MrMacintoshIII, there's an app for that. And a chart. 🤓
I would recommend you to check bandbreite.watch, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

It also helps to learn and remember the color of the laser printing on the bottom and the relative color of the buttons.

I too am a new band collector. When I bought the watch I expected to buy maybe one or two bands. Since then I’ve discovered (thanks to this forum and the app) just how many wonderful bands are out there.

That all said, I’m super hesitant to buy on eBay due to counterfeit worries. It seems like a lot of fellow collectors use eBay so I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips you might have

We actually have a whole thread dedicated to spotting fakes on eBay. Have a look! I’m in the process of updating it for the first time in 2ish years so there may be some changes over the next few days. But it’s mostly up to date aside from missing the new band styles introduced with the Ultra.

There is also the stalwart Chargerstore on eBay. Mostly end up paying retail but the products and services are nonpareil. Not that he can’t make mistakes but yeah top shop.

Feel free to post any bands you’re considering in that the fakes thread for inspection

Went ahead and finished updating the fakes thread with everything except the new Ultra styles (since nobody has them in hand yet). Also added guides for the Hermes bands. Everything should now be current!
I’ll have Ocean by mid to late next week, hopefully. We’ll see how quickly this Ultra owner sends it out. It does say the day after launch, but they are across the country.

Umber has become one of my favorite leather link colors. It reminds me of the Arizona MagSafe wallet but a little less red. I would have loved to see Arizona in a band!
I just received my Umber I ordered S/M but Amazon shipped me M/L but the band still fits. Right now I am using the color "Camel" on my Metropolitan watch face. I was debating on using "Gold" since I have Series 7 SS Gold. What other color options would look good since there are really no brown watch face colors?

I have a “too big” Umber coming tomorrow too (price was too good)…have you tried the colors up above where you can customize the level?

I feel like Stone taken to a darker setting might be good. Or warm gray.

I do find Camel and Gold great for Umber’s buddy Saddle Brown

Stone looks pretty good but I just discovered "walnut" which looks good as well.

Now all I need is "Rainforest" BSL and maybe "INK" Leather Link then all the bands I like from Fall 2022 will be complete. Still need "Apricot" to complete my orange sport bands.

I can't wait for my Alpine Loop in orange size M to arrive sometime in October.

It’s nice to just need Umber and Ink to stay up on the Leather Links
