Some of this brings to mind, asking on behalf of those of us newly taking the plunge, to those of you with closets full of Hermès bands: what do you recommend to preserve such leather bands? I won't be looking to darken it or any such, just to, uh, treat it properly - I guess, keep it from drying out? Or do I need to do anything special?

@jeremyfernie - ha! jinx!

The coconut oil thing is fairly new, I let my colvert swift go naked for awhile and it’s fine, but I also never wear it, it was a free sample and a tad boring...I just so happened to be into coconut oil as aftershave for awhile and then one day I read somewhere it was good for leather. Like I said, it’s sketchy and darkening for that rallye grain, but having just put it on the swift that came yesterday, I can say it‘s perfect for that.

Didn’t darken the chalk colored band or the linen bleu at all. Honestly it’s probably more useful for the saddle underside. I’m sure certified creamy-white industrial products Big Leather would have you use are fine, but I’m bought into the “natural“ lifestyle so why not use cheap-as-dirt coconut oil instead? You really need a vanishing amount, and I like wiping off the excess.

Think like the tiniest brush off the hard top of, like, a Trader Joe’s/CVS mason jar of the stuff...maybe the swift doesn’t need it as bad as the Apple bands, but it’s good peace of mind. Just be wary that coconut oil does harden below 75° so you might come back to some scary white residue later that reminds you of sweat damage...but that’s why I wipe it down fastidiously. Cheers! Hopefully we haven’t hijacked the thread too bad...it gets pretty dead when new bands are no longer new.

While I don't have a Hermès leather band I use this stuff on all of my leather bands from Apple and FFF. Have used it on leather gloves, boots and really anything leather. Works great, smells great, lasts long.

Thought I'd share the new Peacock Leather Loop that arrived this evening. Paired with my 44mm Stainless Steel Gold.

Hey guys, I still have one of these Zero Mass Apple Watch band boxes left for anyone that wants it. They retail for $90, but I’m only asking for $20 plus shipping. Shipping is $25 from USPS, so $45 total. Here are some pictures of it below, plus a link to it on Amazon.

Quick question. Does the regular SS Milanese scratch the SS watch like the space black Milanese can scratch the space black watch?

Looks nice! Any chance you have a cape cod leather loop and could do a photo comparison?
Sorry! For the leather loops, I only have black and the original blue from S0

I had a S0 silver SS and Milanese loop. You have to be careful taking the watch off, otherwise the strap can rub against the body of the watch causing scratches. That was my experience anyway ...

Can confirm, seen it with my mum’s. Happens the same way with SS and SBSS - ie. when putting on or taking off, you need to hang on to the magnetic clasp so that it doesn’t flop around and scratch up against the watch body. I learned that with my S0, so my S2 (when I still had it) and my S4 (both SBSS) don’t have that problem.

So Surf Blue finally showed up and well it is kind of disappointing. It looks so much brighter in photos. In reality, it is as dull as one of the first generation Sport Bands. It fits somewhere between First Generation Blue and (So-Called) Royal Blue.

The second batch of photos taken in nice warm and bright eighty degree sunlight.

Blue 1G, Blue 2G, Surf Blue, (So-Called) Royal Blue. For the last few I added Blue Orbit/Blue Gamma, Dark Teal, Dark Turquoise/Aurora Green.
Huge favor request. Can anyone show The Royal Pulse Nike sport and surf blue side by side??

The difference is that the black milanese loop is so hard that it will also scratch the sapphire glass of the display and even the ceramic bottom of the watches; the silver milanese loop will not. Also, the silver milanese loop will not scratch a black stainless watch (if someone would wear this unusual combination).

Oh, wow — the sapphire, too? Never ever had that happen, and I’ve had SBSS plus SBSS ML both since day 1. Must be really repetitive and/or hard hitting incidents.

You must have been very careful putting the band on and taking it off. There have been many reports of this - it‘s called diamond-like coating for a reason ...

Fair enough on the other reports, though I stand by my belief about often/hard hitting as I 100% had body scuffs previously, but not on the glass.

Either way, I’ll take the “be careful” approach with DLC SB finish over any “softer” third party finish any day. Every third party colored (black or otherwise) ML I’ve seen always looks awful eventually (quite soon in my experience).

Can confirm, 99% of third party knockoffs suck. Had a knockoff Milanese and Link bracelet, both more down within a month. Went for an OEM link after that. Now I’m just waiting to find an OEM Milanese for cheap. Used to have one, but sold it after selling my SBSS S0. I think I paid $20 for it on eBay.

You‘re very right about that ... and the people who complain now that the SBML scratches their watch would have been the same people complaining that the SBML itself scratches too easily had it not have the DLC. So my advice for people who like the look is to just get the original Apple one (which looks stunning new and will look stunning for years and years) and be careful when attaching it or taking it off.

Ok a new eBay listing today has me wondering if I need mist blue to pair with white ceramic. Would love to see it in a pic in context with some gray bands if anyone has it. The watchface color is super useful and versatile for sure. (Oh crap Charger has it for 30 if I forego S/M). I only have pebble and concrete/gold in 38/40, wouldn’t mind a “blue fog” to complement my 42mm fog if thats what Mist Blue indeed is.
