And I thought I had a problem.

haha, in all seriousness, really awesome bands you’ve got there. So jealous of some of those, most notably Ultra Violet. Got any pictures of your entire collection?
Thanks. Mine is only a moderate obsession compared to some on here - I think around 55 total now. I only collect Sport Bands (including Nike) and I have a handful of nylon buckles, a couple of leather loops, the SS link bracelet, a Saddle Brown classic buckle and the 2 Hermes. I need to lay out the whole lot sometime and get some pics.

The Ultra Violet is actually my wife’s 38/40mm band, and that photo is the M/L section she doesn’t use. She has close to 50 bands now, again mostly Sport Bands with 4 Hermes, one classic and a few nylon buckles. Neither of us has a single Sport Loop, but between us we’re loosely working toward getting all the fluroelastomer bands, and we have most greens (not that that is hard), all bar 1 yellow, about 2/3 of the blues, most Nikes, a few of the pinks etc.

We’ve both had Watches since S0 and I’m annoyed with myself that after we bought the whole set of original colours, we only started getting all the new season bands every time relatively recently. For ages we just got the odd new season band each, and we’ve missed out on so many that we’re having to catch up on now. I’ve not counted exactly, and we have a fair few duplicates of colours we both like, but we’ve probably got about a third of them still to get I expect.

Some bands look so much better on the black body, and I’ve never had a black Watch.
Most bands look great on the black watches, the notable exception being any leather band with silver lugs. If that sort of detail drives you nuts.

I have the natural Titanium and love the material so much that I entertained the thought of maybe getting a (used) black Titanium as well … and then I look at my collection of bands and ask myself "which of those bands would look better on a black watch" … and all I come up with are the bands that are also black. Honest question to FenC: which of the bands you already own do you expect to look better on the SBSS? Maybe I just lack the imagination as I never had a black AW either.

Fair question. I think almost all the Nike ones will look better as most are either black with a colour, or they have black holes, and the black body will make the whole ensemble 2 colours. I’m a big car guy and I like cars in 2 colours; main body colour and a contrast colour. More than that gets too busy. I think the shiny steel adds a distraction that looks fine, but it will be better without. Spruce Fog, Teal Tint and possibly Bue Orbit (if I get one) probably not so much.

Also I think some of the sport bands will look different. Not necessarily better, but they will have a totally different feel.

I might use my black leather loop with the SBSS, but definitely not my leather bands with metal lugs.

I’ll also think I’ll use mainly black faces to emphasize the single piece of shiny blackness effect. I already don’t use coloured dials for California, Meridien etc. as it emphasises the black bezel around it, and while SBSS at least doesn’t highlight a black bezel between the coloured face and a shiny silver case I still think black will look better - but until I try that may change.

Ultimately I think I’ll probably buy a silver Hermes S6 as I think SS is the classier look with leather bands and goes well with the Hermes face, and I’ll keep the SBSS to use with the Nike and some sport bands and won’t miss Hermes on it as the more traditional look doesn’t go with those bands. Then I look at my wife currently rocking a pink Hermes face and a Nike Light Violet / White band that looks good.

SBSS versus SS: I feel like I fall into a world of opposites when it comes to the debate.. and in that sense, I realize that with my views below represent a (likely very small) minority. Alas, here they are:

For me, I’ve always felt that the SBSS is actually an easier body to manage pairing with when it comes to any band, except for ones that have SS lugs. I see the black body as a neutral state that actually looks “cleaner” than SS since it’s more “singular” - ie. all black, rather than effectively being 2-tone (SS and black due to screen being heavily black, at least with the functional faces that I like most).

For my eyes, I’ve never ever seen a better looking “formal” look than SBSS paired with SBSSLB. I think at least some at Apple felt similarly, and that’s why S0 SBSS was initially only available with that very match-up at launch.

Thanks for elaborating! I understand what you write about the Nike bands with black base or holes, they will look great with a SSSB; I only have the Royal Pulse/Black one, though. And you're right that a 2-tone look will be easier to achieve with a black Watch. Food for thought for me. Although what you call "busy" I would call "sophisticated", which I quite like. The contrast will always be stronger (harsher?) with a black Watch than with a silver Watch; I can see myself wearing combinations like that, but how often? Hmmm …

See, I always thought that look, while very cool, is a bit to flashy to be considered formal, because of the extremely glossy Watch body. I for one think the black Titanium Watch is shiny in a subtle way that is much closer to the Link Bracelet itself. This is actually the combination that most makes me want to get a black Ti Watch.

While I always love a satin/matte look in general, there's no way on earth that I'd personally ever switch away from the SBSS DLC. It's so liberating to never have to be concerned about wearing it based on my activities. I've done so many abrasion-prone activities on a regular basis (eg. concrete cutting, demolition), and have never had to take it off. I'd say the only time I ever take it off is to charge, which is usually: shower time in the morning, and drive on the way home (pre-quarantine).

Yeah, the DLC is awesome ... but the black Ti also has it!

Hello, I'm newbie here, I love collect bands but I only love the latest collection. I often sell the previous bands to buy new ones :D

A very nice collection, all the same. Top choices made in the LL category, I must say — and the Fog SB, always in the top 10 for me. Wearing it now, in fact!

Am I alone in the hope that there will be a Fog-like Sport Loop one day? (Not 2-tone format though)

Not to make you jones for a rarity but have you ever seen spruce fog Nike loop? Ooh it’s a stunner and matches every watch. It does not look good in the hero shots, I’m seeing now. I guess that’s why it wasn’t on my radar until I saw it on the reddit market. It’s not quite as queasy green as its sport band counterpart, which I also like but not as much. Side note: how annoying is the California face complication not staying colored (the messages bubble). Oh wow a 42mm at slightly above retail and in Canada! https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Apple-Watch-42mm-44mm-Nike-Sport-Loop-Spruce-Fog-/133362893454

Haha you bugger.. I will admit, your pics make it look MUCH better than advertised. It's still too dark / green though, IMO -- the super-grey (edging on "cool" grey) of Fog SB is what I'm waiting for! Here's a quick & dirty photoshop to try and convey it. So quick and dirty that I literally just grabbed a google image result showing close-up of Indigo SL (you can tell by the hint of it at the top-right side), and went front here. Note that this would make it a Nike band, I guess -- since it's their previous style of SL, rather than the 2-tone one (still not a fan, sorry!).

Hey, Apple introduced Spruce Fog nike loop along with AW series 4. That loop looks nothing special but it goes well with evey watch colors. The local shop near my house still has some on stock :) just checked it this morning.

The spruce fog really looked great with natural titanium

btw: anyone can tell me is there any good app help me to surf macrumours forum more easily? I'm totally new here.

Nope, just Safari (or Chrome, I suppose). If you have alerts set up, you can click the bell in the upper right to see new posts in threads you’ve posted in, as well as reactions and quotes.

Thanks! Ya you and others have now provided enlightenment as to how Apple’s photos yet again did not do justice to a band, in that case. Alas, still keen on a true “Fog” clone in SL form, check my post above for what it could look like!

As for the app, totally - I use Tapatalk!

Best of luck in your search efforts! I just pick up whichever cheap and cool bands I can find. I personally never spend more than $40 on a single band, yet my collection is somewhere around 50 OEM. I have walnut on the way, which is one I’m very excited for!

I remember when Walnut, Stone and Antique White launched I read it was to try to match skin tones, and I wasn’t sure about that to say the least, which is why I didn’t buy them at the time. So an invisible band works then?

Yeah I think it’s half the fun of a nude look (although it is a handsome pair with space black, gold is weird I’ll admit) and half that it’s such an obscure old band that no one has 💁🏻

interesting. I’ve had stone and Antique in the past, but didn’t really like them enough to keep them around.

It’s like this...at least in a workout context...so do I wanna be the guy who has to strap the computer watch to his wrist just to shoot hoops (black/default sport band), overly swaggy matching my Nikes with some color pop, or just like a Middle Eastern dude getting in touch with his Kim Kardashian side.

That’s antique white/gold in my hand, which I like a lot more than the stone that came with the S4 gold and was dirt cheap from one of those English ebayers who seems to have a hundred of them.

We’ll see if coastal gray will give it a little company in the lineup, it’s kind of on an island right now. The coastal gray watch face color is actually dead on with walnut though it’s a bit down the list!

Damn, matching skin tone actually does look pretty cool despite what you would expect, eh?

PS that lead-in to your post there.. hahaha

I remember trying in the Walnut at an Apple Store when it was current, and thinking, "yeah, this looks like a Band-Aid".
