Oooh, those sport bands look nice. Aaaaand now I have to get them.

Ocean, Denim & Horizon, bought Horizon a day ago and Ocean today. They’re pretty similar per your photos, but I couldn’t pass up the deals. Horizon was $15 + shipping, still NIB. Ocean was open box for $35, but I don’t recall the last time I even saw one listed, so I bought it just to have it.

Denim was a nice color to have, but I sold it a while back. Found it yesterday for $15, same as Horizon. NIB. Looks a bit similar to my Royal Blue, but I’ll manage. I’ve probably got about 6-7 blues now.

Very good hunting, awesome deals. Congrats! I love blues as well, but I'm particular about the specifics when it comes to colorpairability (new term?) with SBSS. With the exception of Gamma (of course), Royal is about as bright-blue as I'd like to personally go for a SB. Surf Blue is tempting but looks too similar to Royal. Ocean is my most heavily worn blue SB throughout the full year (seasons have a big impact on my choice).

Those are great!

I wonder which looks better on a dark watch (Space Grey), PP/white or Black/Grey?

Here are a few shots I took of various Nike+ bands. I personally like all, but the Pure Platinum really does contrast well.

Thanks! I have no problems even going as light as 2nd gen Blue. One of my favorites for how bright it is, really.

Nice comparison shots there.. just missing Pure Platinum / Black, buddy! That combined with Black / White = Panda style FTW.

Seem most of you are crazy about Ultra Violet SB. In my city some people are selling at around $20 for sealed and new UV SB. I don't know but in my country violet color is less attractive.

Btw, does anyone know where I can purchase the Hyper Grape SL 44mm? I gifted my lil brother then I could not see it anywhere.

I am using the Hyper Crimson, which is similar to Hyper Grape.

Sorry to hear it :( It must have been either very heavily worn and/or into some serious dirt of sorts? Magic eraser didn't do the trick?

Magic erasers act as an abrasive to the band, standing down the coating. I choose not to use them unless I absolutely have to. I bought it used, but it came discolored.

What country? I’m really jealous.

Also, Hyper Grape was discontinued a while back, and even when it wasn’t it was nearly sold out everywhere. That one was a very popular color. They resell about $90 USD, so good luck in finding one for a reasonable price.

I'm living in Vietnam and some weeks ago I bought a Dark Teal SB, the seller asked me if I was interested in UV SB as he had some in stock, Dark Teal and UV SB were sold at about $20. I don't know why vivid color is not attractive in my country, AW consumers prefer the dark band. Moreover, not many AW users here are willing to pay $67 (retail price from authorised reseller) for an authentic band. That's why we can easily find a brandnew and sealed old band on stock :D I am one of very few band collectors in my country.

Ok so an update on the barenia leather conditioning for us non-Hermes-watch peons...last night when some water droplets from rinsing dishes got on the brand new ebay open box band it definitely created a distressing blotch or two, but I let it ride instead of rushing to oil it. This morning I wouldn’t be able to notice if I didn’t know where to look as it has kinda faded back in the “window” as they call it and I’m on the long beautiful road to patina. I guess this “transparency” is what we’re paying for. If you look closely at the grain it almost looks like a fuzzy tv picture and the oil/moisture that will give it the patina remind me of, like, one of those bed of needles toys, sorta pushing down the “dots” to create a pattern.

Given the quarantine, I will probably not try to baby it too much because I’m basically making food and rinsing dishes all day, but perhaps for heavy duty scrubbing I can give up the calories burned and take it off 😉. Tell me if you can even see the splotch I’ve circled below...

Awesome, thanks. So Marine Green is slightly darker than Teal Tint (bands)

Hopefully my SBSS is only a few hours from delivery. I’ll snap it with my wife’s Surf when it arrives.

Yes, but just, and without the clue of the circle it would have been hard. Not knowing it is there you’d never see it.

Walmart.com has a 'black' 40mm sport band listed at $24.99.
anyone know when this band was originally offered for sale by Apple?
Midnight Blue also is available ... I'm guessing that is an old release too?

Black has been around since the original launch. Somewhere along the way it changed from pure black to a very dark grey. I have an original and I’m getting a new one today with a new Watch but I haven’t seen the difference for myself yet. Anyway if it’s 40mm it’s from after September ‘18 and will be dark grey and the same as available new from Apple.

Midnight is an old colour that also had 2 generations. I haven’t seen the new one, but the old is pretty boring so I don’t care to. It is discontinued but possibly one of the least loved and it ran for a long time so plenty around.

Wow, impressive to see...that’s a very small and very faint droplet. You are right I cannot really see it if not for your outlining. Is it possible to ”rub” away this small mark even to see if perhaps that results in an even more faint mark? That would be very interesting to see.

So, I got my used, but like-new Hermes band yesterday..and it really is great looking soft, and a very nice shade of brown. I too am afraid of that first droplet, scratching, first sign of patina, since having spent more on this band than any other in my collection.

I did acquire a 4th gen Apple classic saddle brown leather Buckle, I believe on Macari, for 20$ (nice seller who priced it low for some reason) and it was basically brand new. This Hermes band cost 200$. The hermes band is a bit softer and smoother, but the slight graininess of the apple band does give it an impression of a bit more ”toughness” although I’m not sure if it’ll patina as nice as the Hermes. I realize the new values for these were 150 and 339, I’m trying to see if that price difference is worth the cost. I am curious to ride out this Hermes band, and wear it only for formal occasions where it wouldn’t be too thrashed, but otherwise can use the apple band since its relatively inexpensive. I am also considering re-selling the Hermes Band and just use the apple one, saving myself the 200. Any opinions welcome, and I don’t believe I have seen any comparison pics between the two, so these may be helping someone else also.

I really feel like the $200 aftermarket price point, especially when somewhat unfairly compared to the full $150 of Apple, makes the Hermes an insane value. Feels like a fair trade to have the tiniest little strip of Birkin bag, especially as a guy who has no need even for a manly rich dude lil purse.

Yeah I rubbed the water drop in last night and today and it doesn’t do much, but it will eventually fall through the “window.” I’m happy with the little science experiment of it all, I just wonder how all the little blobs will start looking together in a pattern. The pics you see of semi-used bands on the marketplace websites are so dreary with the patina. But they also are just crappy low light pics...

Now as for keeping the beige stitches clean and flat 😬😬😬

I just try not to wear leather when I can avoid it. Granted, my only OEM leather band is a pre-owned blue loop, but I still like to keep it nice.

I looked but couldn’t find it so sorry if it’s ever been posted... I have a good local deal on a Turquoise sport band pending. I already have a Beryl and wasn’t sure how close (if too close) it is to one another. Anyone have any comparison shots?

I think I’m on board with your opinion. I would also never be carrying a man purse/Birkin bag obviously (although I frequent with a brown leather messenger bag Very frequently 👍🏾). I love brown leather and the way it ages and looks and makes many things a classy affair, including the Apple Watch. I’m gonna keep this guy and the Apple leather and use the Hermes in more fancier occasions, when we’re all able to finally get to those fancy occasions and from this stay at home thing. For us guys, only a few ways Really we can accessorize our look compared to ladies.

I did sell a bunch of sport loops and sport bands also recently so that kinda pays off this Hermes expenditure. it really is all relative, I came to think about how we spend (including me) on these fluoroastimers and sport loops and how much they must’ve really cost apple to make. In my mind really does justify some of the nicer materials like stainless steel and leather (including Hermes) which cost just a bit extra.

I am still tempted by some of the sport loops, as their colors are just fantastic, especially the Nike ones like on of new, the hyper grape! Seeing the Neptune green sport loop, very tempted by that one too!

Even if I could afford one, I don’t think I could pull of an Hermès band. It’s like that picture of the Bugatti in the trailer park, the band would be worth 3-6x the resell value of my Watch.

View attachment 910290

Ha, it’s the exact reason why I opted to get a used Hermes band rather than buy the Complete Hermes Apple Watch since I don’t believe that Hermes watch keeps its value any better than the regular stainless steel ones once you separate the band factor.

Very close. Turquoise on the left, Beryl on the right. THese are my wife’s unused M/L 40mm sections.

Ha! I hadn't seen that before. Just servicing that thing would cost more than the "home". That said, many years ago when I bought my first flat / apartment I bought a car a few weeks later that cost 25% more :D

Without a shadow if a doubt you're right - but then the Hermes face is just sooooo much classier than the California or Meridien closest versions of ordinary Apple face, and with AOD that makes the whole thing look like a real watch.

Not that I have a Hermes with AOD, but I did buy a cheap S4 for the bands, but without AID Hermes loses its purpose for me so I'm about to sell it on with just the orange sport band (as I have 2). I hope to get a little more than an S4 Alu goes for because almost all S4s are GPS only here, and because SS and sapphire glass are harder wearing, but we'll see. I doubt it could make more money than a new S5 GPS only however, in fact I barely paid more than a new 44MM GPS S5 for it with the leather band also.

OK, experts -- I need some help in identifying this color. I purchased this Nike Sport Loop without a box, and it wasn't listed with the name of the color. Is it Midnight Fog??
View attachment 910300

Yeah that’s midnight fog. The Nike logo should be a neon green style like below.
