It’s like this...at least in a workout context...so do I wanna be the guy who has to strap the computer watch to his wrist just to shoot hoops (black/default sport band), overly swaggy matching my Nikes with some color pop, or just like a Middle Eastern dude getting in touch with his Kim Kardashian side.

That’s antique white/gold in my hand, which I like a lot more than the stone that came with the S4 gold and was dirt cheap from one of those English ebayers who seems to have a hundred of them.

We’ll see if coastal gray will give it a little company in the lineup, it’s kind of on an island right now. The coastal gray watch face color is actually dead on with walnut though it’s a bit down the list!

Woah, yeah, I like that look a lot. Let’s hope it matches me as well.

I found a Barely Rose locally for $15. A little on the feminine side, but I kinda like It. Here’s a comparison with Pure Platinum / White.

It's a lovely color - if it appeals to you, run with it. Nothing wrong with getting in touch with your feminine side. So many men worry so much that anything not 100% black-leather-and-nails will make them less of a man. Fun fact, the notion of "blue for boys / pink for girls" is surprisingly recent (like the past 100 years), and when the notion was first put forth, it was reversed, with blue being considered demure and feminine, and pink obviously being a strong man's color.

Looking at that picture makes me want a Barely Rose Nike band...

Not to make you jones for a rarity but have you ever seen spruce fog Nike loop? Ooh it’s a stunner and matches every watch. It does not look good in the hero shots, I’m seeing now. I guess that’s why it wasn’t on my radar until I saw it on the reddit market. It’s not quite as queasy green as its sport band counterpart, which I also like but not as much. Side note: how annoying is the California face complication not staying colored (the messages bubble). Oh wow a 42mm at slightly above retail and in Canada! https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Apple-Watch-42mm-44mm-Nike-Sport-Loop-Spruce-Fog-/133362893454

Are these your photos? What is your watch sitting on?

I remember trying in the Walnut at an Apple Store when it was current, and thinking, "yeah, this looks like a Band-Aid".
LOL

I really wanted Mint, and went through a protracted process to get it through Chargerstore - it was missed from a shipment, but they made it right and I have no issues with any of that as mistakes happen and so long as they are fixed all is good.

Now that I have it, whenever I wear it I can't help thinking it looks like that green alternative to Blutack.

Is mint rare? Bought it for $15 on eBay NIB impulsively almost a year ago, didn’t really think much of it.

My wife is wearing hers right now as we sit in our home office next to one another working in a slightly relaxed NZ lockdown where we aren't allowed to go to work as we don't need to to do our jobs. I love it, and as she has the light pink fade Hermes face that rests to black with pink neutrals and hands with the AOD it looks especially awesome.

I love it, but I admit I'm not sure I'm quite in touch enough with my feminine side for what is the most Barbie band I think has ever been officially released.

Best of luck in your search efforts! I just pick up whichever cheap and cool bands I can find. I personally never spend more than $40 on a single band, yet my collection is somewhere around 50 OEM. I have walnut on the way, which is one I’m very excited for!
I’d been eyeing that color on eBay/Mercari for a bit but didn’t have the extra money. A bit jealous!

Pretty rare I think as it was one of the first colours that came out after the original bright, primary colour bands when there were obviously far fewer potential buyers. I really just wanted another green. I mean I had Green, Spearmint, Pine and Khaki by then, but there are still gaps for a few more shades.

Since then I have only been able to add Cactus (which I'm wearing now actually, but has a heavy hint of blue). I should get Marine Green also I guess, but it's a single season band so likely rare. My wife has Beryl, but it's a bit too pale to really grab me so I haven't bothered. Time is running out to get it new, but I don't know that I care enough to buy it.

Beryl is already discontinued IIRC. Spearmint and Marine Green are high up on my wishlist. Love the brighter colors, they contrast so well on the Gray Aluminum.

I recently got a new iPad cover and it makes a fancy backdrop, doesn’t it haha? I also feel like it provides a little bit of reference as recognizable Apple “charcoal”

Damn, matching skin tone actually does look pretty cool despite what you would expect, eh?

PS that lead-in to your post there.. hahaha
Can you tell I have a lot of leftover early adopter self-consciousness before they showed up on everyone’s wrist? 😊

Ah, I figured it was a case or cover of some sort for a MacBook or iPad. Pretty cool.

Beryl is still available in the NZ Apple Store, but not as an option with e new Watch, so I can get it still if I want to.

Spearmint is awesome, I really like it. I'm not sure I've seen Marine - in fact does anyone have Marine Green and Nike Teal Tint who could do a compare photo?

That’s awesome ;)

I quite like Mint, but the last few times I’ve warn it has been 1/2 Mint and 1/2 Light Pink, which it amuses me to dub, “MintBerry Crunch” (from South Park). Lately when I want light green I keep going with Spearmint. Hmm, Dragonfruit and Spearmint, I wonder how that’d work?

Hey, Apple introduced Spruce Fog nike loop along with AW series 4. That loop looks nothing special but it goes well with evey watch colors. The local shop near my house still has some on stock :) just checked it this morning.

The spruce fog really looked great with natural titanium

btw: anyone can tell me is there any good app help me to surf macrumours forum more easily? I'm totally new here.

That's a really nice combination. Wish I could justify buying the titanium o_O

Thanks for elaborating! I understand what you write about the Nike bands with black base or holes, they will look great with a SSSB; I only have the Royal Pulse/Black one, though. And you're right that a 2-tone look will be easier to achieve with a black Watch. Food for thought for me. Although what you call "busy" I would call "sophisticated", which I quite like. The contrast will always be stronger (harsher?) with a black Watch than with a silver Watch; I can see myself wearing combinations like that, but how often? Hmmm …
[automerge]1587994422[/automerge]

See, I always thought that look, while very cool, is a bit to flashy to be considered formal, because of the extremely glossy Watch body. I for one think the black Titanium Watch is shiny in a subtle way that is much closer to the Link Bracelet itself. This is actually the combination that most makes me want to get a black Ti Watch.
While I always love a satin/matte look in general, there's no way on earth that I'd personally ever switch away from the SBSS DLC. It's so liberating to never have to be concerned about wearing it based on my activities. I've done so many abrasion-prone activities on a regular basis (eg. concrete cutting, demolition), and have never had to take it off. I'd say the only time I ever take it off is to charge, which is usually: shower time in the morning, and drive on the way home (pre-quarantine).

I saw these posts while I was working and didn’t have time to reply then.

When I said “busy” I was more thinking of the car thing than the watch. Gold isn’t my thing personally, but I tend to think shiny gold or silver is more traditional for watches, which I why I said I’ll likely go for a Hermes is SS. I said it was classier, and I think it is, but that’s subjective and other people won‘t agree. I think traditional is probably something more people would agree with.

Personally I’m not sure about some bands on black - dark blues and brown leather I’ll have to see IRL before I can make a call. I think brown leather looks fantastic with silver or gold SS though, as does black leather, so I think when I want to go for the traditionally smart look, which is when a Hermes AOD face really excels, I’d rather the SS to do that with. A Hermes SS with Fauve Barenia is classic, and switching to a Noir stays classic but is a very different look. An SBSS Hermes with the Noir band is also very slick and elegant, but not so traditional / classic. Put a Fauve band on that watch though (even with black hardware) and I’m not so sure I even like it.

When the S5 was announced we still only had Alu available here in NZ as we still didn’t have an eSIM provider. At first I held out in the hope we’d get the LTE models soon (though I caved and bought a silver Nike after seeing a couple of S5s with AOD at work) and was planning to get a Ti if/when they came available here. When we did get LTE in mid-December we only got SS - no Edition or Hermes is available here. I went with SS in that case and I like it sooooo much better than the Alu that was all I could get for S3, S4 and my short-lived Nike S5. My S0 was SS, but the Watch was slow to take off here and there weren’t many around until S3, by which time we couldn’t buy SS, so the vast majority of Watches I see are Alu. More than that most men have SG on a black Sport Band and most women seem to have Rose Gold Alu on a pink or white Sport Band. Even silver Alu is relatively uncommon from what I see around.

With no Apple stores and relatively few Watches in the wild as well as the unimaginative owners I genuinely have hardly ever seen a SG with anything other than a black band (one crazy adventurous guy I work with has a Nike Anthracite!), and (sorry to the SG owners) I don’t like the finish. It might look way better with a coloured band, but I haven’t seen it to know. I also don’t like the look of Silver Alu now I’m back with SS. I sold my Nike, but my wife has an Alu S4 she still uses for sleep tracking and the dullness of it is just so meh to my eye.

The point of all that is to say that not having seen it IRL I’d now be wary of Ti in either colour in case it is too satin and therefore too much like the Alu. That and that it may not match the SS lugs well enough even in the lighter variant for me to wear my Hermes or classic buckle leather bands with it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen SBSS for real either, but for me shiny is the black that I think I‘ll like best - and I’ll see it tomorrow. I’m excited, but also slightly concerned I won’t like it. I can always return it if it really doesn’t work for me.

Wow, that was more than I thought I was going to write.

Space Grey with some different color combos:

Hello, I'm newbie here, I love collect bands but I only love the latest collection. I often sell the previous bands to buy new ones :D

Ok a new eBay listing today has me wondering if I need mist blue to pair with white ceramic. Would love to see it in a pic in context with some gray bands if anyone has it. The watchface color is super useful and versatile for sure. (Oh crap Charger has it for 30 if I forego S/M). I only have pebble and concrete/gold in 38/40, wouldn’t mind a “blue fog” to complement my 42mm fog if thats what Mist Blue indeed is.
I used to have the S3 Ceramic. So you can see it here paired with the Mist Blue.

I do have both. SB & SL so I will make the pics later today.

I agree with just about everything here. Although we always had all models available round here, I also rarely see other models being worn than the Alu Watches. Men almost exclusively space gray (with a black sport band), women I‘d say half gold and half silver. I don‘t see myself getting an Alu Watch ever, the finish is just too dull and lifeless to my eyes. I had only silver SS Watches and couldn‘t necessarily imagine something even classier would come along, but the natural Ti is just that. Both Ti finishes are much shinier IRL than the equivalent Alu finishes. And also subtly brushed. I hope with the S6 the Titanium Editions will be available a) at all still (maybe it was just an experiment and I’m not sure they sell enough of them) and b) come to NZ so you can see for yourself. I was also a little worried abouth the straps with SS lugs, but they blend in just fine.

FYI folks -- posted to the OEM deals thread already, but for the Canadians here:

TheSource.ca: Sport Bands and Loops (too many to list, Apple & Nike, several rare discontinued ones, and most have minor discounts too!) [edit: looks like the search results page might be bugging and not showing the discounts. individual product pages do reflect the discounts correctly, where applicable.)

Thanks to the influence of you enablers here.. I pulled the trigger on Spruce Fog loop, just in case Apple doesn't do one like my "Fog Sport Loop" photoshop-creation above!

In the US, but I’ve heard nothing but good things about the source in terms of good deals on bands. Saw someone got an UV from them for some stupid price like $35. I’m not jealous at all.....

Anywho, guess who just bought 3 slightly different blues and is now out of money?

....yeah..

Hope you enjoy your spruce fog! Would love to have the SB but I cant find one that isn’t expensive.

Which blues? And I think I will, you & thousand convinced me. To my eyes, this looks like it might rank in the top 10 bands for "worst hero pic" of all time. I never even bothered to look for real world photos of it because I was so completely turned off by Apple's shots.

Oooh, those sport bands look nice. Aaaaand now I have to get them.

Ocean, Denim & Horizon, bought Horizon a day ago and Ocean today. They’re pretty similar per your photos, but I couldn’t pass up the deals. Horizon was $15 + shipping, still NIB. Ocean was open box for $35, but I don’t recall the last time I even saw one listed, so I bought it just to have it.

Denim was a nice color to have, but I sold it a while back. Found it yesterday for $15, same as Horizon. NIB. Looks a bit similar to my Royal Blue, but I’ll manage. I’ve probably got about 6-7 blues now.
