Lol no offense, thats not what I'd call organised :).. I also noticed you have logic studio, seeing as your 14 I thought id enquire, what do you use it for?

I keep my main desk organized. I have my pencils, decorations and speakers on the lower shelf. I have my home phone, second dock and other decorations on the top shelf. I have my other things inside the cabinet of my main desk. I have a paper organizer below my cabinet. Then, I have my most used things on the actual desk. I took that picture a while ago, so it's not as organized as it is rite now. I took that picture on the day my friends were over, so people were touching and looking at my things.

I use Logic Studio to edit and compose music. I record things and edit them using Logic Studio. The thing is... I only paid $150 for it and it is the full retail version. :D

nice and clean the way i like it :apple:

I'm 19 now but I think I am still somewhat eligible since it is only one year older and still live at home. My room changed a bit since last time to what it is now.

The new things in the set up I have now are; a new entertainment stand with a mount, a new tv (in my sig), a Retro-Duo system that plays both NES and SNES games with 99 percent original backwards compatibility - I am playing Super Mario World in one shot, and of course my new chair. I haven't really had time to figure out how I want my desktop area to be, so this is temporary.

It would be on par if you used 8 Xeon processors and DDR3 RAM :p

not necessarily, i have the same GPU as the current mac pro and the same cpu as the previous mac pro. the previous mac pro used a Xeon branded C2D (Xeons are just extremely stable, rock solid, anti-fail versions of intel desktop chips). So with that logic, my Core 2 Quad @ 3.0 is the same as a previous gen quad-core mac pro running at 3.0 GHz. lol.

btw Nvidia GT 120 = 9500GT = 8600GT.

It's not just to do with clock speed. The Xeon 5160 has features such as Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology & Demand Based Switching, both of which are absent from the Q6600. Not to mention that you can't run 2x Q6600's in one board, as the C2Q range doesn't support SMP. Also bear in mind that the 5160 has a stock FSB of 1333MT/s whereas your Q6600 has a FSB of 1066MT/s. Then also factor in that the 5160 has an 80W TDP whilst your Q6600 is 95/105W (depending on which stepping yours is) & probably kicks out substantially more than that after you've overclocked it. Etc.

btw Nvidia GT 120 = 9500GT = 8600GT.
Again, no. The 9500GT bears the same G96 core as the 8600GT, but both core & shaders operate faster. The 9500GT also uses less power and has an updated PureVideo HD. The GT 120 however is just a die-shrunk 9500GT.

So your saying a Core 2 Quad isn't 64 bit? DBS is the name applied to server chips for SpeedStep... once again available on most modern chips.
Performance isn't the reason for using server class chips over desktop, so for 99% of people it doesn't make a huge difference.
I would love to have a MP, and for the components you get with one it's a pretty good value. That said there's no reason for me to spend that much money when an i7 based machine will be just as, or more than, capable as a single chip MP.

The MP is an awesome machine for people that need it, but you can build a respectably fast machine for not a lot of money these days.

This also wasn't my point. I wasn't griping with your claims that your rig is on par performance-wise with the previous generation single chip Mac Pro; my gripe was that you claimed your machine to be on par in general to a Mac Pro, which it is not.

My Setup. Got my iMac last May, and my MacBook 2 weeks ago.

I am 15.

specs in the sig; left piece isn't really part of desk. stole it from another :) the cabinet it blocks is for a tower. No need for that. It is a permanent piece though.

yes. many xeons are stable versions are just rebranded desktop chips, take the x3350 (Q9450) for example.

my q6600 is oc'd to 3.0, im running a 1333 fsb. i have the G0 stepping. and my 8600gt is oc'd, however since its the g96 core, its still the same gpu. i can oc to any speed, it doesnt matter. its the same. i never said i can run 2 q6600's where did you get that? i said my pc is comparable to a 2006-2008 QUAD core mac pro. unless you can state otherwise, SMP makes no difference. my 8600gt runs at 560 stock (compared to 540) so it is actually faster than the 9500gt/gt 120 which runs at 550. if you want, search for the MSI 8600GT OC edition. you can check out the specs, my card is faster than a stock 9500gt. heat makes no difference as long as the computer works. your argument is invalid. my computer is in fact on par with a 2008 mac pro. i clearly stated previous mac pro in my original post.

Here's mine I haven't bothered with a setup photo in a long time, so I thought I'd throw mine up again.

iMac 20" 2.4GHz 3GB RAM 320GB HDD
Wacom Bamboo White Medium
iPhone 8GB
Random assortment of photography equipment on the left.

I'm 17 and 18 in July, so I thought get it in. I paid for it all by myself being fortunate to have an alright paying retail job and getting photography jobs as well.

It's not my machine, so I'm not claiming anything. But if it's on par performance wise, that's about all there is too it... otherwise you have looks and I don't think anyone is crazy enough to argue that the PM/MP isn't one of the best (or the best) looking machines ever.;)

I hear ya on the monitor. I'm waiting for Dell to drop the 24" model to $475 or less and I'm gonna jump :)

If your talking about the Ultrasharp, I wouldn't count on it. They have deals sometimes and get down to low 500's.
Check out ebay though. I was going to get mine during the MS Cashback but by the time I got to it, it was over. $500 still wasn't a bad deal though. There was a guy with some for like $460 but they didn't include all of the cables so it wasn't worth it imo.

I know what you mean though. I had been looking at 24's for a long time and finally decided that if I was going to get one it was going to be a good one. Took me a long time to justify 2x the price though.
