I'm looking forward to your thoughts.. I'm going to try to enjoy this fold 6 for now haha..
Yea don't make the same mistake I did. My Fold 6 is looking all lonely on my nightstand. Give me OneUI and s-pen on the Open and it's damn near the perfect device. Really like OxygenOS but OneUI is just the most polished OS for a foldable. As far as hardware goes I prefer the Open hands down. But that's only half of the equation. Gonna take a couple weeks to decide which I prefer to use. I don't like the appearance of OxygenOS in many ways like notifications and the notification tray. The UI looks like they tried to go one way Pixel and the other iOS. But it is still really fun to use so far.

I think that's the biggest turn-off for me is oxygen OS.. I'm sure I would get used to it but I just don't think in the long run it would be for me. Otherwise I like a lot of things about it.

It's not bad...just different. I do like the Open canvas multi tasking. Pretty slick. I could change a lot of the looks with a launcher and icon packs but I'm too damn old and busy for all that now 😂

But man, the crease (or lack of), front screen, anti reflective inner screen, fast charging are all huge positives. Got me thinking about the 2025 successor for sure.

The square icons, dynamic island copy, and even the font on the status bar makes me think I'm on an Apple foldable 😆

Sorry to but in; were you on the Pixel Fold or the 15PM before your ZF6?

Just wanting to see how you've found the move and what the benefits have been in comparison?
My 15PM I carry daily as it's work and personal phone. I have the Pixel 8 Pro which is now on the sidelines while I break in the ZF6 ..biggest difference ZF6 vs Pixel Fold is weight and screen brightness along with crease ..also easier to use apps and pairs without having to see app in bad ratio ..enjoyed the PF and it's solid device for my past year .. Samsung just has the best software for foldable IMO ..I would just request a wider front screen while folded .

Cheers for that

See I talk myself out of the ZF6 due to the front screen; but then I see another review and see how slick it is etc and it pulls me right back into being interested in it 😂

I love the Pixel Fold; have no issues with apps as I'm not a heavy user, so the apps I use are limited really..

The only thing really keeping me to Apple is the AWU2 I have; think it's a superb watch. But the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra looks just as good

Think I'll see what comes of the Google release next week and make a decision from there

I know I can use the Samsung watch with my Pixel Fold; already done it with the Watch 6 Classic

But thinking if I'm going to down that route; may as well go whole hog and get the ZF6 too

One thing I'm interested in; how do you find the ZF6 camera compared to the Pixel Fold camera?

I think the camera gets the job done enough for me to not miss the Pixel too much. I also have Google One so I'm always adjusting all my photos regardless of which phone took it. I've never entertained the thought of leaving my AWU ..it's paired with iPhone and I don't use anything else for the Android side .. I'm also using my phone in open mode more than the Pixel..

Yeah; that's the pull I have with the AWU... I really like it; it's the perfect size for my hands/wrists but also I do use it every day for training and tracking my movement (all part of maintaining a bodyweight drop since I was unwell this time last year - down 30kg now)!

I know the watches are much the same; but it's their style differs a lot and the AWU suits what I want out of a watch really... Plus theres the Apple comfort zone 😂 Gad dammit; I canni get oot Captain 😂

I decided last night to try the OneUI stock launcher although it's been forever lol.. any way to make the app drawer go vertical? Transition seem to be a little bit smoother on Nova.. is everyone running separate screens outside inside or are they using the same screen set up inside to outside?

Unfortunately, no way to have the app drawer go vertical. Supposedly it's coming in OneUI 7.

I actually thought about doing this... having Lawnchair launcher on the outer display and OneUI on the inner, there's tutorials out there using Tasker + Routines. But when I looked at the results... it's a slight delay when transitioning to each launcher, so decided against it.

Oh yes I've done it before with different launchers and tasker.. I do agree a slight delay at times. Are you running your one UI stock launcher separately outside and inside? That's the one thing I was debating right now I have it separately since it's narrow on the outside.

I use slightly different home screens on outer vs inner screen mainly because the inner screen has more space for widgets, whereas I have to stack some widgets on the outer screen. If it's an app I predominantly use on the big screen then I only have it on the inner homescreen. For apps that I want shared access to, whether outer or inner screen, then I stick them either in the Taskbar or Edge Panel.

Having the taskbar plus the edges makes a difference. I didn't go too crazy and usually use the second screen with more stuff on it including stackable.

With the Open canvas, is there any way to see all three apps concurrently? Or is one tile always off the edge of the screen, effectively limited to two viewable apps at a time?
Not that I have seen but admittedly I really haven't had time to play with it much.

Based off the videos I've seen... Open Canvas doesn't fit all 3 apps onto the screen. That's why I think it's kind of limited compared to Samsung multitasking approach.

I think it's neat OnePlus is trying something different, so I applaud them for adding it. If Samsung copies it... I'd give it a go myself. But it wouldn't be something I use on a regular basis. But that document picker feature from the dock, I wish Samsung would adopt that from OnePlus Open.

I mostly multitask with just two apps at a time in split screen but I have found a few instances where Open Canvas has seemed pretty nifty. I'm not sure I like one implementation better than the other but they are both solid. One thing I have really enjoyed about the Open other than the bigger outer screen is the battery life and charging speeds. Overall both phones operate very similar though and it would be hard to go wrong with either one. I'm going to keep both but if I had to choose I'd lean ever so slightly to the OnePlus Open. The ZF6 is going to stay on my business line while I run the Open on my personal. Will probably get a Pixel 9 Pro XL and send off the 8 Pro and 15 PM. Struggling with that one as it has been forever since I haven't had an iPhone, but with cross platform RCS messaging it really makes it less necessary for me to have one. We use life 360 to stay connected so FindMy isn't really a necessity anymore.

I don't know about placing the iPhone to the side... unless you looking to get the 16PM when that comes out. And I thought you liked having an Apple Watch?

I don't carry an iPhone... but I do take my iPad on-the-go. So, for me... I like being in the Apple ecosystem (sharing iCloud photo albums, iMessage... using AirDrop) and not looking to remove myself from it.

I haven't touched my AW ultra since I got the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra.

I won't be fully removed from the Apple ecosystem. Not even close in fact. Still have my M2 MBA (basically just a BlueBubbles server 😂), several Apple TVs, 12.9" iPad Pro. All those things I can freely do without an iPhone.

Not looking at the 16PM, I'm looking more towards the 17. But as you have probably gathered from my posting history, I have a hard time turning down new and shiny 🤦‍♂️

Wait min... so, you actually prefer the Galaxy Watch Ultra over the AW Ultra? How's the speed performance between the two when navigating around the operating system.

I have the Watch 4 Classic... thought about upgrading to the Watch 6 Classic, but I was told the difference in speed was negligible. And now comes the Watch Ultra... but I'd had to get more bands smh.

I really, really like it. Much better looking imo. More comfortable on the wrist for me. Apple watchOS is definitely more eye candy/aesthetically pleasing but the Galaxy Ultra does everything I do on the Apple Watch Ultra just as well. It is more accurate on activity tracking than past Galaxy watches (nearly identical to AWU on my morning runs) and handles notifications, spotify, sleep tracking just as well as my AWU does. Both are great devices and I won't get rid of my AWU because I know I'll use an iPhone again at some point.
