I used to think that way, but given that we have paying a high price, and apple markets their products as a premium experience/quality, I do expect them to be defect free.Nothing is perfect, technology included. Even if you spend money for it. It will always be that way.
The iPad Pro cost me a lot of money, and apple is making a nice profit on my purchase, the least I can expect is to be sure I truly get a premium product and experience (and in my case I have - vary happy with the IPP).
On the eye fatigue front, I spent last night reading on my iPad instead of my Kindle Paper White, and found no issues with prolonged reading. On one hand reading on such a large display was wonderful, but on the other hand, the hand fatique increased more then it had with the tiny little kindle paper white tablet.
