Was this hissing sound resolved? I am currently without phone (after returning iPhone 8) and am considering just getting a 7 which will be plenty good enough, but won’t if it has its own issues.

Yes but 11.1 fix this problem or no one are sure? Cancella you conferm that update stop the problem?
Updated to 11.1; still happening, heard it will be fixed on the following iOS update
I have 11.1 beta 1 too, and the static clicking noise seems to be gone. Although do you happen to experience muffled sound coming out of the receiver, intermittently?
So, if i buy iPhone 8 and update on 11.1 Whit developer account i don't have this problem?
Still crackling after 11.1 update; no muffling sounds just crackling but it’s not constant, intermittent and not all all calls
So to be clear.. are you saying that iOS 11.1 (which is Developer beta, not released yet) still has the issue ..

11.0.1, which has been publicly released still has the issue. I agree that I have 11.0.1 and still have the issue.. We were hoping for more news that 11.1 (Developer beta) had resolved it.
iOS updates usually hit at 1PM Eastern.. we will see ..

1. The issue happens both on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus.
2. It happens during mobile calls, landline calls, facetime.
3. People that went to the stores and got replacement units have the same issue on the replacement units.
4. The public iOS 11.0.1 does NOT fix the problem.
5. Users that have intalled the iOS 11.1 developer beta report that THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED.

Yes, you're right but I think you mean the earpiece, not the mic.
