Still crackling after 11.1 update; no muffling sounds just crackling but it’s not constant, intermittent and not all all calls

Just to confirm, you are using the 11.1 developer beta, correct? Not 11.0.1?

EDIT: Nevermind. I see that you already clarified that you were running 11.0.1 in another post.

Sounds like 11.1 public beta just dropped. even public not recommended for everyone.. if you do it, make sure you understand how to exit..especially if you want to go back down to iOS 10.x
[doublepost=1506618470][/doublepost]Hoping 11.0.2 hits today.. historically, Apple doesn’t do iOS updates on a Friday.. assuming no one wants to work weekends if there is an issue.

OK it's 10 minutes past the time and still no trace of the update. I'm afraid we won't get it today guys...

iPhone 8 -- I'm on iOS 11.1 Developer Beta 1, I haven't yet heard the static clicking that I used to get, but I do sometimes hear the other person with a muffled voice--it's almost like something is constantly vibrating as the other person speak. Let me know if you hear this too! It could be just me, my device, or the numbers I've been calling (T-Mobile 611 and another test number)

If no 11.0.2 this week I will likely go 11.1 Public Beta (just dropped) to test for the issue. I have heard many say that 11.1 Dev Beta is pretty nice compared to where the masses are.

Interesting.. I am pretty certain I noticed the crackle noise was associated with the other voice on the line talking..wondering if some suppression being done.

Apple just released 11.0.1 two days ago. Not sure why anyone thinks 11.0.2 would be released today. Even next week is a stretch, but possible.

Public Beta 11.1 is out and it seems to have cured it like the developer 11.1 Beta. Fantastic!

1. The issue happens both on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus.
2. It happens during mobile calls, landline calls, facetime.
3. People that went to the stores and got replacement units have the same issue on the replacement units.
4. The public iOS 11.0.1 does NOT fix the problem.
5. Users that have intalled the iOS 11.1 developer beta report that THE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED.

Hi, could I get some clarity over whether there are any other developers running the as yet unreleased 11.1 beta 1 update (not the 11.0.1 publicly-available update) experiencing muffling of calls intermittently even though the crackling is resolved in this beta update? (other than jiehanzheng who I believe initially reported this).

I'm on 11.0.1 and just waiting for a software fix.

Dammit. Going to have to go 11.1 PB

In the beta forum a guy (Madscotsman) says 11.0.2 is coming next week.
This guy knows pretty much all the time when a new beta is coming so make sure we'll see this update next week.
Hopefully it will cure that nasty bug...

I belive the muffling of calls is more related to reception, more than likely the reception of the caller on the other end. I think I have experienced something like that on other phones. To easily test whether this muffling is a result of flaky reception you should see if you experience this during facetime audio calls as well.

Hey folks, install the public beta and test it that way. I have and it works fine. A few bugs like half a screen when you’re on a call but apart from that seems OK.

iphone 8+ here crackling too :for me it's a hardware problem
because when a put a small pressure with one finger (very gentle) near eathpiece i hear one "click" , same noise with phone off
someone can test this ?
sorry for my bad english

So back to hardware...
Just unpackaged my 8 which i’d boxed up to take back, signed up to beta, downloaded 11.1 PB, and the crackle has gone. Doesn’t sound muffled to me - I’ve only been calling voicemail and Vodafone customer services number, but sounds fine to me.

I’m thinking this 8 may live to fight another day!

Edit: it was crackling on 90% of calls on 11.0.1.

Hey guys this thread is turning into a little mess. Just to clarify what we know so far:

1. The issue happens both on iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus.
2. It happens during mobile calls, landline calls, facetime.
3. People that went to the stores and got replacement units have the same issue on the replacement units.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thought no cracklings but muffled. Is that considered fixed ? Or a masking ?

I have a doubt, though, if it's a software problem, how do they just have some phones and not everyone? all have the same iOS 11.0 and some have problems and others do not .. why?

Legit concern. I share it.

Are you hearing muffled call quality?

For those with the muffled calls.. try turning off LTE voice and changing it to just data. I think it has something to do with the HD voice .. at least for me anyway. It doesn't sound right to me and now it sounds like my 5S.. I still get crackling but I don't do betas!

The real problem Who that the people Who install iOS 11.1 don't have any problem... But why???
