Is anyone else experiencing a crackling static noise from the earpiece during facetime or cellular calls? Strange thing is this noise happens randomly, roughly 1 in 3 calls. This is happening on iphone 8 plus.

UPDATE: Issue has since been confirmed to be fixed in 11.1 developer beta. Wait for official release.
He He. One plus of the geezer life, I can't hear minor stuff such as "crackling" - only my wife cackling.

But if in the beta the problem goes alone, i think that in the stable it's the same...
I am not sure I understand the question. When 11.1 is a stable version it will be gone in my opinion. 11.1 is version for iPhone X release.

so you think that the 11.1 will come out in a month? so who has the problem Need to wait until it?

Who knows. Code fix could be merged into an interim release. I suspect this one is costing Apple money with returns so I’d be surprised if an 11.0.x release didn’t address it.

I have a feeling next week Apple will release 11.0.2 having the crackle being fixed. Don't think they will wait a month to release it in 11.1 when its already fixed now.

It could be a matter of tolerances in how the earpieces are built or installed. Or it could be different preamp manufacturers. A lot of variables in there. And maybe the software fix just compensates for different behaviors of different component manufacturing batches.

Or maybe, just maybe, it truly was simply a software problem.

then Saturday / Sunday?
Just read on a famous German Tech website that Apple actually is going to fix this issue finally in iOS 11.1 and this will be end of next month. There is no notification about something between. So in worse case scenario we have all to wait one more month. To be able to use our 1000 Dollar device for phone calls as well. It's really a joke :) Welcome to 2017

Never mind, we're just part of this "small number of cases"

It will definitely be fixed in 11.1 (as many beta testers have attested), but I'd be shocked if Apple didn't move the fix down to 11.0.2 and release that next week. Historically, iOS x.0.2 usually comes out about 1 week after iOS x.0.1 in the past few years. Take a look at this chart: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history

What should I say? Hopefully this will come true. It's sad enough that so much people are discussing about this issue and hoping for solution. Actually we all bought a car that is not driving 200 but 150 and that's annoying. I used to have so much different devices in my live, but I was never facing an issue like this. My 10 year old Nokia is still working with a crystal clear sound. The more I think about that the more I hate myself for jumping on a that expensive beta device. Shame on me.

I purchased a iphone 8 plus from Hong Kong AOS last week, found this unacceptable issue since the first call..I reported this to apple and they sent me another iphone to try. As expected, same issue existed in the new one. I trust that all or almost all iphone 8 have this issue. Apple should admit the responsibility earlier, to prevent wasting our time...I talked to the staff from Apple management team this morning, she still had no idea of this may caused by software bug...I kept waiting for DHL delivery all the day...

I agree with this.

I think you will be fine with 11.0.2 (today or next week) or 11.1 in a month. I think exchanging phones is a waste. Again, I am on the public beta for 11.1 and it is resolved as far as I can tell. Did another call this morning and no crackle.

thanks for your info, it’s definitely a good news for us. As a fan of Apple, I really feel disappointed this time. If the problem found in iphone x, I think it’s still reluctantly reasonable, since it’s a all new product, but iphone 8 is just a facelift version of iphone 7, it should not have this kind of low level bug...

Glad to help. I understand your frustration. We all hold Apple to a higher standard that most companies and it is justified IMO. They know they charge more and, for the most part, make high-quality products.

Things happen. Light bleed with the iPad 3 (and the battery on it is still horrible), butterfly keyboards.. etc.. but Apple usually makes it right. No person or company is perfect.. and trust me.. I don’t take it easy on them.. I had to go full-bore on the keyboard thing.

For those that are really frustrated.. and if 11.0.2 doesn’t come out or resolve.. keep up with this thread and I will let you know how 11.1 is going. So far, it is better than 11.0 IMO. Blazing fast.. and I have seen some people even get little glimpses of X menu items (yes... a bug.. but kind of funny and fun).
