For those who ordered the ATI 4850....

4850 orders, why haven't they shipped in order received?
Now, I'm not some angry guy who needs to vent. I ordered my 4850 fully expecting a 4-6 week wait. And so far, I'm still within that timeframe.
My problem/concern is why are the newer orders being filled before mine and a few others? I ordered march 7, estimated delivery is April 21. I would be alright with waiting until then if everyone had to wait too.
But I read people placing orders in mid, late, even an April 1st order has "shipped" as a status. I've never received an email saying anything about my order and my status is still "not yet shipped". Can someone explain this to me? It's not a credit card holdup, I've called apple and my card and both say no charge is pending.
Some insight would be appreciated if someone can explain this. I just don't get it.

Not sure. It seems that overseas and Canada can get theirs faster than USA. So if you are in the States then this could be one reason. It should be like in order of the orders that was placed. And it is a bit off. Only Apple knows for sure and they are not cooperating with releasing any information on this. Maybe all orders that are overdue will be released next week. It is just a waiting game.

I ordered on March 5th, and still nothing yet. No email, no change in order status. And I am in Canada.
It should make you feel better. As far as I know, only a handful of people in States or Canada get their iMacs, most of us are still waiting.
Those who ordered in late March or early April and have already got their shipping notice are most likely in Europe.
Don't forget the fact that, as gasport reported, our iMacs should be shipped from States.
Then I am lost at who is getting their iMacs first. It seems like a lottery now. Who will be lucky next ?

Apple is not the concern here. It is usually Federal Express that does the delivering for Apple. Yes they run on weekends but, even if you chose overnite they will not deliver on Saturdays unless you request Saturday Delivery and that is super expensive. They usually do run and deliver on Holidays at least in the USA.

Thats ok, thanks for your input. The only thing is that its not actually in the hands of a courier yet. My order hasn't even been prepared for shipment, so I was just wondering if they still prepare orders for shipment in the warehouse over the weekends, ready for shipping out on mondays?
Mine shipped Friday, I think it will be here Tuesday since they have sent it by an express courier service. If it wasn't for the public holiday on Monday I would probably have it then.
Ordered mine March 12th in the Netherlands. Received a message yesterday that is was shipped on the 10th, but would be delivered on the 21st. Today this changed to the 27th!?! Why does it take 17 days to ship an iMac?? Are they taking it by foot? Can't wait any longer!
Btw: it will be my first Mac after 20 years of msdos and windows... ;-)

I spent some time last evening installing software on the 3.06 iMac and still overwhelmed by the available real estate vs my 13 " Macbook and 19" Dell Monitor... In any event, the reason for this post is to mention that the iMac I received in the US was assembled in the US not China. I also registered the applecare I purchased on eBay and that went smoothly. I tried the benchmarks, but they limit you to the 32 bit version, and as mentioned I did not see anything about the processor.

I have always owned PCs and its amazing I havent thrown my 7 year old desktop PC out the window lately. I think it knows its being replaced. Since researching/dreaming about Macs for over a year I am excited about getting fully immersed in the Mac experience. I have an iPod touch and love it but it left me wanting more. I received my Macbook about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it too. And now I am patiently ??? waiting for my desktop iMac to be shipped so I can get off the PC bandwagon once and for all. Also, looking forward to a new iPhone this summer. OK enough babbling I will go and check to see if its shipped yet.

You guys in UK are lucky
The downside to living in the UK is we get shafted with the price. To buy the same machine in america is just under $500 cheaper. But thats the UK for you, hence the reason i want out!
Swapping of Keyboard Didn't Hurt my Delivery Time
The only thing odd with my order, possibly attributed to my switch of keyboard, is that I ended up with the Spanish version! (And Spanish user guide also.) I can't use it because of a few key-cap relocations which drive me nuts. For now I'm using a spare older keyboard.
I ordered mine (from the eastern USA) also on March 3, and called Apple to change the keyboard to the full-size option a couple of days later (when I realized that the default keyboard was short). This had no negative impact on my shipping/delivery estimates (which were April 14/15, but turned out to be April 9/10).

Anyone get their ATiMacs yet? 2 of my wow guild mates said they got theirs yesterday and only ordered them about 10 days ago from the USA. Could it be?

Seriously though, 2-3 USA located people have recieved the machines, as noted in the "For those who ordered a 4850" thread. The people who've gotten them all ordered on day 1. So I'd be hard pressed to believe you're friends ordered last week and got them yesterday.
So no real information is known? I see a lot more "My iMac is shipping today" than "I don't have shipment" forums responses in the large 4850 forum. Now, it could be that the people who aren't getting theirs aren't talking--but I would think we'd want to pipe up so we know we're not alone. I've only seen like 2-3 people who ordered in mid march or earlier that haven't gotten shipment. I feel like the minority right now.

I kind of agree with you on what to think RBM. Well one guy I don't so much believe anything said - but the other guy is a stand up proper family man who seems like he wouldn't lie - not about such a trivial thing as a new computer anyway. When building an order online at the store now though does only show a 7-10 lead time so I suppose some people just got lucky? It does happen. Either way glad to hear they are in fact getting out there. Looking forward to seeing some bmarks and hearing about how hot - or not - they get.

Most shipping dates will be updated this week for people who have previously ordered. I asked why it took so long and she said there was two things drivers and sourcing the chips from ATI. There have been a huge demand of these Imacs.
I then asked one orders have been updated and some hadn't and she mentioned different factories and shipping territories are factors.
The next week will be interesting.

Don't get so uptight -- you'll get your iMac soon. And besides, and as you've already pointed out, there's another thread already dedicated to this topic. There's no reason to make another duplicate thread.

i predict that most of us will have our computers by the end of next week... reading about all of u who have received yours makes me really impatient, and patient is something i have tried to be for the last 6 weeks and was conquering till early last week!!!
