Still wondering if I have to wait 3 more weeks from tomorrows date (Tuesday April 14th) until May 5th before I get my New iMac? It seems that shipping is going way too slow. People who ordered just March 4th , 6th, etc are just now getting theirs. Anyone got theirs that ordered between the dates of March 7th and March 21st and that are in the USA. I already know that overseas outlets are getting their faster for some reason.

Would like to hear from anyone that fits the above.

It looks that way. I have been looking at one and the wait time is what's killing me. I'm just going to wait until production equals demand.

So you are saying that you might not get your Mac on the April 20th scheduled date for shipping? That they contacted you to tell you that there is another 4-6 week delay? If that is so, i would be very angry if I were you.

Wizardhunt, well I don't think there's another 4-6 week delay--for some reason they are calling people to let them know there WAS a delay and they are just now getting to me? Either way, makes no sense since now when you order it's 3-5 days...

...This is my 2nd Mac and everytime I order, something goes screwy like this and I'm left without answers. First G5 I bought had 2.5 month delay.

I'm just waiting in agony here for this thing--my buddy ordered the same imac model and 4850 on April 1st here in the US and already has his shipment tracking info...

Read above post--buddy ordered April 1st and got his tracking already!

Fyi

Ordered Mar.3 at 6:18 pm PDT
Still "not shipped yet"
Vancouver, Canada
Ship date has always said Apr.14, so I'll give it another day before I start getting annoyed. So I'll settle for wistful until then

Is this true? I ordered mine March 26 and my order status hasn't changed. Granted, I still expect it to ship Apr 30 and arrive May 6 like they originally said, but if someone ordered after me and gets it before me, then there's a bit of a problem.

4850 imac HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!

I ordered on April 1st and it just got delivered (live in Sydney). Looks amazing, cant wait to start her up.

It seems that is what is happening all over the place if you read the thread. People are ordering and getting their iMacs in less time than others who have been waiting . . . like forever it seems. And that is so unfair.

Is Apple stalling for some reason? Or do they know why certain areas of the country is getting theirs shipped whiles others are not?

How many of those getting their iMacs are coming out of CA?(California)

Did you order a 3.06 Model or 2.93? Maybe it is the 2.93 models that are coming in quick? What do you think?

Back on April 1st, I called Apple and asked them about why some are getting deliveries and others are not, and that the web site is now showing 7-10 days instead of the 3-5 weeks when some of us ordered earlier. Their reply was give it 7-10 business days and your status should update by then. Well tomorrow (Tues April 14) will be the 10th business day since my talk with Apple, and if I don't see any change by tomorrow, then On Wed (April 15) I will contact Apple again and see what excuse they have now. :p

There is absolutely nothing in common between PCI and PCI-E. Do not confuse people by saying that one is found in the other.

While PCI-E can appear to software as a PCI device in reality the two buses are as similar as humans and rocks on the beach.

The fact that system profiler shows PCI-E cards under a PCI category only means that system profiler is seeing them all as PCI expansion devices in software only.

They are not the same buses.

where did i say they were the same thing? i said you'll find that system profiler puts them under the same category. bring the issue up with apple if you're so concerned.

I wonder where did you get buy? Offical site or....?

You said:

actually the PCI section includes PCI-E. It makes sense.

Now why would it make sense to put PCI-E under PCI when the two aren't even remotely the same?

Did you order a 3.06 Model or 2.93? Maybe it is the 2.93 models that are coming in quick? What do you think?

I ordered 2.93ghz. My sig has all the info on the BTO.

Yeah makes no sense here--it would appear the March 3-6 orders are getting filled with some regularity. I'm told to wait until April 20th before I get angry, though I have every reason to when I order something 1 month earlier than someone else and he gets it 1 week earlier than moi.

Oh apple--your employees have no idea what's going on. On the plus side--I did complain about this and they tried to give me free overnight but since I ordered through an employee discount they can't credit it to me.

I've got a busy week and weekend ahead to hopefully distract me until I see shipment. Wizardhunt, I would be very confident the machine will ship today or tomorrow.

YAY! My system is shipping.... Just a question though... the package is currently listed with the following status:

Apr 11,2009 1:10PM - In transit - CALGARY, AB - Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker

No updates since then. Any idea what the "Paperwork available for non-FedEx broker" bit means? I've never ordered from the apple store before, so have never seen the above before.

Ordered mine March 12th in the Netherlands. Received a message yesterday that is was shipped on the 10th, but would be delivered on the 21st. Today this changed to the 27th!?! Why does it take 17 days to ship an iMac?? Are they taking it by foot? Can't wait any longer!

Just phoned the Apple desk. They said it was shipped from the factory in China to the Netherlands on the 10th. Usually this takes a week or less. They were able to give me priority so that UPS can deliver it the next day when it arrives at the dist center. So with a little luck it will be here this Friday the 17th! The website still says delivery by the 27th...

PS: First game to be installed: Team Fortress 2! (with Crossover Games)

X-Plane benchmark results for Radeon HD 4850

Thanks to Tom Dahl, a member of this forum, I have some 4850 X-Plane benchmark results (vs other GPUs) to share....

Running X-Plane Demo 9.22 benchmark using a recorded 1 min flight of the X-15 dropped from a bomber, it produces results for three phases. Averaging these, we get....
iMac with GeForce 8800 GS = 70 fps
iMac with GeForce 130 GT = 71 fps
iMac with Radeon HD 4850 = 101 fps

Here's how the 2009 Mac Pro with various GPUs compares:
GeForce 120 GT = 43 fps
GeForce 8800 GT = 42 fps
Radeon HD 3870 = 154 fps
Radeon HD 4870 = 154 fps

It appears from the Mac Pro numbers that X-Plane "favors" ATI GPUs so don't draw too much from this. Hopefully we'll have results for a whole spectrum of graphics apps to share soon.
