Hello, everyone.

I'm thinking of upgrade to a Sabrent Rocket 1Tb. My question is with the adapter, do you know the difference between these two adapters?

A1708 NVMe M.2 NGFF SSD 2016 a 2017 Macbook

NFHK N-1708
I'm not sure what the difference is between them but i had problems with the NGFF adapter. When i installed it, my ssd was not showing up in disk utility. When i ordered and installed the NFHK adapter i did NOT have any problems with it. I would recommend the NFHK adapter.

Received this morning this NGFF adapter and had problems too.
Finally I have returned this adapter

Thank you very much, Ivanavila, for your answer. I will investigate what the difference is but it is clear that the NGFF adapter does not work properly. It's strange because the NGFF adapter is more expensive.

I have the NGFF from Sintech and it's working perfectly

Hey guys, just finished successfully installing the Sabrent 1TB SSD and the NFHK N-1708 adaptor. Installation was pretty easy and everything seems to be running smoothly. Posted my before and after results with Black Magic, unfortunately I cropped the before a bit so you can't see the whole thing but still should give you a good idea.

Update to my previous post, I am having the same hibernation and battery drain issues reported by some of the other users, and also the missing disk icon if I try to cold boot with the powercable plugged in.

I've tried enabling trim by using the command:
sudo trimforce enable

And also tried using:
sudo pmset -b sleep 10 disksleep 5 hibernatemode 25 autopoweroff 0 standbydelaylow 300 standbydelayhigh 300

and also still not fixing the hibernation issues. When I close my screen and open it again it just loads right to my desktop. Any help would be appreciated. Right now, I'm not sure it's worth the extra 1TB to have the battery drain issue since it won't hibernate.

Did you restart your laptop after my command regarding the hibernation?
For me running the Sintech adapter and 1tb SSD everything is fine.

Yup restarted, same issue. Decided to return the hard drive and adaptor. Not worth all the headaches.

Hey guys, reporting back again. I have put my original SSD back in as I mentioned I was having hibernation and battery issues. Since then my macbook seems to be running very hot, and fans on a lot more then I remember. Anybody have any ideas? I reset the SMC and NVRAM already.

Hello all,

After reading a lot about this adaptor, I decided to buy it, now waiting for it.

I have read about the hibernation problem and the waste of battery while sleeping but I will run the risk.
If it doesnt work properly enough, I will get an external enclouser and I will use it as an external storage.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Is it necessary to tape these adapters down similar to OEM drive? Does anyone know what tape Apple uses?

Yesterday received and installed my sabrent 2tb 2242 with NGFF adapter, so far so good, everything seems to run fast and smooth, no hibernation issues or increased power consumption, the only difference is for some reason it can't find ssd by pressing the button if charging cable plugged in, but it's not even an issue.

Write: 1200, read: 2000. Power consumption during hibernation increased significantly, MacBook looses around 20% per night. After changing to hibernatemode 25 computer unable to wake up at all. Any suggestions?

To find out why some users have hibernation problems, it might be interesting to know the year of each model tested. If it's 2016 or 2017

I am using WD SN520 512GB 2242. Everything works great except for a minor battery drain in sleep mode (8% overnight). I believe the battery drain or hibernation issues are associated with the NVME SSD, not the adaptor.

Has anyone found an enclosure/adapter to connect an original 22 + 34 PIN 128 GB SSD from a A1708 model MacBook Pro as an external disk via USB? I have a 2017 A1708 that is completely bricked, no indication what so ever of being able to power it on. I am going to remove the SSD and hopefully do some data recovery via USB but need an enclosure/adapter to be able to connect it?

Received this new one adapter. This one accepts double sided Sabrent 2242 512gb and fits fine.
All is working nice except power on pressing the button with cable plugged.
In Black Magic results are Read 1350 and Write 1500. Its ok for me.

hi everyone after reading the entire thread here's my concern. with type of adaptor to go for NGFF of NFHK? And what are the problems I might bump into? I've read that for some it works flawlessly and some experiencing hibernation issues or startup issues with the power cord plugged in. I'm situated in India so it'll be a one time delivery for me as there are no return options. please guide
